How I think I’m writing: Using eye contact, or lack thereof, to display emotions such as intimacy, shock, denial, or nervousness.
How I’m actually writing: She looked at me, and I looked away. I tried to look back, but she was already looking at the sky. “Look,” she sighs, looking back at me for a split second. “I don’t know how to say this.” We looked at each other and time stopped, but then she looked her lookers at something else to look at, looking tired.
(On her way back to the bar, Elia spots Makoa waiting near the bathroom)
(Her heart stumbles at the sight of him. He’s tense. Eyes sharp. Watching her)
Elia: .. Hey.
Makoa: You were gone awhile. I came looking for you.
Elia: Yeah.. I’m sorry. Uh.. I..
Elia: (Elia trails off, searching for the right words)
Makoa: Don’t. You’ve never been one to lie. Don’t start now.
Elia: Makoa. Whatever you saw—
Makoa: (voice tight) I saw you, Elia. With him. The way he held you.. The way you let him. I saw everything.
Elia: Please. Just let me explain.
Makoa: (abruptly) When did he get here?
Elia: ..A couple days ago.
Makoa: Right. Around the time you started pulling away. Of course. Suddenly it all makes sense. (mumbles) That piece of shit..
(He turns to walk off. Elia follows, panicked)
Elia: Where are you going?
Makoa: Somewhere I won’t do something I’ll regret.
Elia: Ko, please. Talk to me.
Makoa: (Anger rises in Makoa’s chest. Elia reaches for his hand, soft and pleading) No. I can’t. Not right now. I need space.
Elia: (frantic) I didn’t mean—
Makoa: (Makoa turns, his voice rising as the emotion inside him begins to break) Do you want me to cause a scene? Because I swear to god, Elia.. I’ll fucking kill him if you don’t let me walk away.
It's Harvestfest & usually Zara's parents host all the big events but this year the girls have decided to take on some hosting duties (with mum's blessing) so she'll be hosting this years' Harvestfest in her new home. However, with a chef for a husband it's easy for her to host since she actually doesn't do most of the work (she did prepare the drinks though).
She grew up with both her parents in her life, but they were extremely strict and catholic. They controlled every aspect of her life even to what she wore, she wasn’t allowed to wear skirts or dresses. She was only allowed to wear pants or shirts that were “modest”. She still talks to her parents regularly and they call multiple times a day to check up on her, especially since she’s moved out now.
She’s a closeted lesbian but absolutely no one knows that in her life besides Avery
One of the first thing she did when she moved out was buy a crop top it was her first act of “rebellion”
She considers herself agnostic but still pretends around her family and goes to church with her parents every Sunday
She’s trying to convince Avery to be roommates in her apartment together
Her parents are very wealthy and insisted on trying to pay her rent for her, but she refused because she knows it’s just another way, they can control her and her life
She loves to bake her own bread and will make extra loaves to give to her coworkers
She loves baking in general but still hasn’t perfected macarons yet
She dealt with acne A LOT as a teenager but now has her skincare routine perfected. She is constantly trying to introduce Avery to serums but Avery tells her it’s a scam
When she moved out is when he she got her very first job at the bar, she’s currently working at. It absolutely terrified her but she is constantly trying to push herself out of her comfort zone since she’s no longer living under her parent's thumb (as much anyways) and has the ability to actually do things she never could before
She lied and told her parents she’s working as a receptionist somewhere (the vaguer the better)
She smells like honey and soap
Her favorite color is burnt orange and pastel pink
She absolutely loves horror movies the first one she ever saw was when she moved out which was the original Friday The 13th
She’s 5’7
She has 2 younger sisters named Dani and Florence
She broke her nose playing volleyball in highschool and it’s permanently crooked now
