Boyfriend? -H.JS
Pairing: Established relationship. Han Jisung x reader
Genre: Fluff (A tiny bit of angst) Suggestive at the end
Warnings: Curse words. Also known as those kinds of fics "x's times this and the one time that"
Summary: You got a new title but you still aren't used to it. What will your guy say about it?
You still remember that moment when your boyfriend, Han Jisung, proposed to you.
So unique. So him.
“Han Jisung, get that animal away from my face!” You hid behind the cabinet.
"It's not just an animal, jagi. Her name is Richard. She’s so cute!”
“Forget that she’s cute! She’s a crested gecko, Ji.”
“Gorgeous.”
“A lizard!”
“Hey, don’t call your daughter that.”
“Daughter? She’s not my daughter.”
“She’ll be your daughter if you’re my wife.” He said it calmly, playing with the lizard.
“Sorry... What did you say?” You poked your head out from behind your hiding spot. “If I'm your what?”
“What did I say?” You looked at him. “Oh? Oh!”
It wasn't how he had planned it, but it was perfect for you. Ever since that day, an engagement ring has been on your finger
However, you’re still not a hundred percent used to the title. And that’s something that’s starting to bother your fiancé.
①
You heard the front door open. You checked the time on your phone: 4:50 p.m.
Jisung came home early from work.
“Has it been twenty minutes already?” your friend, Janne, asked. You looked at her, unable to believe her question.
“You just put everything in the oven!” you exclaimed. “Find something else to do while you wait.”
“What should I do?”
“Wash your kitchen—it’s really dirty.”
“I asked for help with a berry cake, not for you to make me clean up like my mom.”
“Do as I say, sweetie.” They laughed.
“Since when do you have another daughter?” Jisung’s voice reached your ears first, and then you saw him walk in.
He looked really handsome in his glasses.
“Ever since Janne asked me for help with a cake.”
“What happened?”
“Oh, nothing,” you told your friend, laughing. “It’s just that my boyfriend just got home.”
“Fiancé, jagi.” Jisung said quietly, reminding you as he leaned in to plant a kiss on your forehead.
“Right, sorry,” you kissed his chin. “My fiancé.”
“Fiancé?” your friend asked. “When did all this happen?”
“It was recent,” Jisung said. “A week ago.” You pulled your left hand up, your shiny ring flashing against the camera
“You bitch,” you laughed. “YOU DIDN’T TELL ME?!”
“Surprise,” you sang.
“Jisung had the guts to propose to you, huh?”
“Hey! Hey! Hey!”
②
“Jisungieee” You called him looking at him over the top of your glasses. “We’re going to be late.”
“We’ll make it just in time.”
“It’s not ideal, honey.”
Jisung came back with two ice creams—one yogurt and one chocolate.
“Here.” He handed you the chocolate ice cream. “I asked them to add extra chocolate chunks on the side.”
“You’re the best.” You kissed his cheek.
“I know.” He looked at you with his big eyes. “But could you say that again in a voice message?” You laughed.
“What for?”
“I need to show Changbin-hyung that I’m better than him,” he said matter-of-factly.
You laughed as you ate your ice cream. “What’s in it for me?”
“Dinner with your fiancé at this new Indian restaurant?” You nodded.
“Get your phone out.” Jisung smiled, and when he took out his phone, someone was standing right in front of the two of you. It was a couple in their 40s or 45s.
“Hello,” you said politely.
“Hello, excuse us,” the woman said. “We’re a little lost—could you help us with this address?”
The man turned his phone toward you. You looked at Jisung, who was scanning the streets.
“You’re very close,” he said, nodding. “Turn right at this corner, go straight for three blocks, and at the next intersection, turn right again.”
You watched as the couple tried to take in the directions they’d just been given, and you smiled.
The man repeated under his breath, then after a few seconds nodded with a smile. “Thank you so much.” Jisung and you bowed your heads slightly.
The woman watched you, smiling. “Stay here a moment, sweetheart,” the man said. “I’m going to buy you an ice cream.”
It was so sweet.
“You know? You remind me of my husband and me when we were young,” she said with a smile. “You two are a couple, right?” You nodded.
“Yes, we’re dating”
“Actually, we’re engaged.” You noticed Jisung’s slightly forced smile.
“Yes, I’m sorry,” You three laughed
“I used to be the same way. Ever since we got married, I haven’t stopped calling him ‘hubby,’” you said, leaning back a little against Jisung’s arm. “How long have you been engaged, if I may ask?”
“Well, I hope everything goes very well for you… The preparations are definitely the most tedious part," the lady laughed, and you both joined in.
“But it’s worth it,” Jisung said as the lady nodded.
“Oh, it sure is.”
Her husband arrived with a bottle of water and a small strawberry ice cream cone.
“You’ve been wanting one for a while,” her husband said.
You wanted to end up like this with Jisung—even with white hair and all wrinkled up.
“Thank you so much, young people. We have to go now. Have a great day.”
“You too,” you said, and once they were out of sight, you asked Jisung, “Will we end up like this?”
“And even more than that. I don’t plan on ever leaving you”
③
It was your promotion at work. You were moving up from senior analyst to manager; you’d been working hard for three and a half years to make it happen. Both you and Han were very happy about your achievement.
The day before, he’d stayed at work until 3 a.m., just to get a head start on the 3RACHA project so he could have the day off. Anyone could see that he was more excited than you were.
“The special guest is here!” they said as soon as they saw you step out of the elevator. You smiled and bowed to each of them in greeting and gratitude.
That was the calmest moment you had at the party.
You were running back and forth; your boss was introducing you to everyone, and your coworkers were acting like they were your closest friends, laughing a little too loudly and making it seem like they knew you inside and out.
Han was your anchor in the midst of all that chaos; you were grateful that with just a single glance, he understood you completely, and even though it wasn’t his place to do so, he would step in during the small talk to give you a little breathing room.
“And who is this handsome young man?” asked the wife of one of the directors.
“Oh!” you laughed. “He’s my boyfriend.”
“Fiancé,” Jisung corrected gently.
“Fiancé,” you corrected. “My fiancé, Han Jisung.”
“How long have you two been engaged?” the lady asked, raising her glass of champagne to her lips.
“Four months,” you said.
“How are the preparations going?”
“They’re going well,” you replied. “There are quite a few things to consider, but we’re handling it just fine.” The lady nodded.
“Are you helping her?” Han laughed.
“As much as I can. It’s my wedding, too,” you nodded once more with a satisfied smile.
“Y/N!” someone called out to you again.
“Excuse me, sorry.”
You were running back and forth; everyone wanted to talk to you. Jisung eventually left you to go to the restroom and get some bottles of water for the two of you.
He was on his way to the lobby when he stopped upon hearing your name.
“Is her relationship with this guy for real?”
“Why do you say that?”
“She’s been introducing him as her boyfriend all night… Aren’t they engaged?”
“They are.”
“Then why doesn’t she call him what he is?”
“She’s so conservative” They laughed.
“It’s a shame for him. He seems like such a sweet guy, and she just puts him down.” She heard another woman’s voice speak up.
“If you could see the face he makes every time he has to correct her—it’s terrible.”
“I’d call him my husband even if he weren’t.” People laughed.
Jisung took a step forward to make himself heard and put a stop to those comments, but he stopped short when he realized that what they were saying was true.
He couldn’t defend something that was indefensible.
He was—he is—your fiancé, and you weren’t acting like it. A hollow feeling settled in his stomach, and his mind raced with a thousand thoughts.
He gripped the water bottles tightly; one of them bent in half. Shocked, Jisung set it down near a table and, with his heart, mind, and stomach in turmoil, made his way over to where you were.
“You took a long time, jagi,” you said as soon as you saw him. One of your hands grabbed his arm while the other took his hand. “Everything okay?” Jisung nodded, humming.
“Everything’s fine, don’t worry,” he gave you a tight smile. You noticed the change in his mood immediately.
“Ji—”
“Y/N! Jisung! Come on over—an old friend is thrilled to meet you both. Come on!”
“Jisung”
“Let’s go, jagi. They’re waiting for you.”
Even though he was feeling sick, he decided to put it aside because it was your night, and he didn't want to ruin it for you.
He swallowed hard and cleared his mind as best he could. He would do this for you.
④
Your hands smoothed out every wrinkle in the dress you were wearing.
Long, slightly loose-fitting, and floral. Just the kind you loved most.
"Jagi, are you ready?" Jisung knocked on the door, his glasses framing his face. "You look beautiful." You felt your cheeks flush. You laughed.
"You look really handsome, too," you said softly. Ji automatically started striking silly poses, making you laugh even more. "Are you ready?"
"Yes, mera jeevan. Are you ready?” You nodded, smiling “C’mon. Let’s go”
Jisung took your hand and led you to the car. The drive to the restaurant was peaceful; you talked about everything and sang along to the songs on his playlist.
When you arrived, Jisung spoke to the waiter, who led you to your reserved table.
“Everything looks so delicious,” you said once the waiter had left, your eyes scanning the menu. “Mushroom risotto.” Jisung savored your words.
“Are you going to order that?” he asked. After a few seconds, you nodded. “I might order some meatballs,” you both hummed softly. “Do you want some wine?” You nodded slightly. “Do you want me to order it right away?”
“Sure.”
Jisung called the waiter and confirmed what they wanted to eat. While they waited, Jisung and you talked about the final decision on his cake. He thought four tiers was fine. You were happy with three. You didn’t have many guests; you preferred something more intimate—just family and very close friends.
And finally, you’d managed to agree on the flavor.
“Four tiers—we’re going to waste a lot of cake; you’re not going to eat it all!”
“We’ll eat it on our honeymoon.”
“We’re going to get diabetes if you keep this up.”
“We’ll end up in the hospital for the first time as husband and wife.”
“First and last, Jisung.” He laughed.
“Here you go,” said the waiter.
“Thank you very much,” you both said as you began to eat.
The conversation shifted to a new project you had assigned to a colleague; she didn't want to do it and simply wanted to pass the work on to a girl who had been with the company for about seven months.
“The thing is, no one agreed to take it over, honey. And that girl is already swamped with her own work—she can’t possibly handle a project this big on top of that!”
“Have you taken this up with HR?” you nodded.
“She thinks I’m holding her back because I won’t let her off the hook for that project.”
“Isn’t she a senior?” You nodded. “And she wants a junior who’s swamped with her own work to do her job?” You nodded. “And she still wants to collect the commission for the project as if she’d done it herself?” You nodded. “She’s evil.”
You laughed, she was more than evil
“Jagi, I forgot something in the car. I'm going to quickly go get it. Could you ask for the check in the meantime?” You nodded.
“Sure, go ahead.” You took a bite of the red velvet cake you were sharing.
As you watched Jisung walk out, you called over the waiter, and while you waited for him to finish serving another table, you ate the rest of the cake.
“Excuse me, could you bring us the check?”
“Sure. In the gentleman’s name, right?” You looked at him, confused.
“Gentleman?” You didn’t let him finish. “Oh, my boyfriend?” you asked.
“Fiancé,” someone said behind you. You turned around and saw Jisung holding a bouquet of flowers; his eyes weren’t looking at you. “But yes, in my name.” His smile didn’t quite reach his eyes, and he didn’t show his teeth.
As soon as the waiter left, Jisung sat down across from you and set the flowers down, looking at you.
“Ji—”
“Forget it.”
“Come on.”
“No,” he said, taking off his glasses. “I don’t want to, Y/N.”
Silence reigned for a moment until the waiter arrived with the check.
“Thank you very much,” said Jisung. You did nothing but stay silent and hold his hand; your other hand was clutching the flowers he’d brought you.
You arrived at the parking lot. Han opened the door for you and then got in himself.
“Thanks for the flowers. They're pretty,” you said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Mhm.”
You sighed. “Could you tell me what happened?”
“It's the same old thing, Y/N.” Jisung ran a hand through his hair. “You keep calling me your boyfriend.”
“Are you serious?”
"Yes, very serious. I’m not your boyfriend anymore—I’m your fiancé. In less than four months, I’ll be your husband. I’d like you to treat me as such.”
“Did it bother you that much?”
“A lot,” he said. “No one knows we’re engaged because you don’t act like it. I’ve let you know many times how this makes me feel. I’m the one who has to hear things about our relationship because you don’t act like we’re engaged.”
“Hear comments?”
“Everyone asks me why you don’t call me ‘fiancé’—do you think I have a solid answer for that? We’ve been engaged for over six months now; that ‘I’m not used to the title’ excuse is starting to feel a bit out of place.”
“That 's no excuse, Jisung. Seriously, I still don’t get it. You’ve been my boyfriend for three and a half years!”
“But I’m not anymore! I’m something more. I’ll be your partner for life.”
“Hannie.”
“I don’t want to talk about it anymore, Y/N,” he said, looking down at the road. “Forget it, please. I don’t want to fight.”
① THE TIME YOU DID
“So this would go here, and it would look something like this,” the designer said once again.
"I see... Honestly, we don’t have any problems with the new team,” you said, looking at the young people who were working. “But I’d like to confirm that everything will be just as we asked. I don’t know what happened with your previous team, but we spoke with them at the beginning and they had a clear vision. Again, please don’t get me wrong—”
“But it’s our day,” Jisung finished for you. “We want it to be perfect.”
“And I understand that perfectly, and I’d like to clarify that it will be exactly as you requested.”
You smiled when you heard that.
“That's amazing, thank you!”
Jisung and you bowed to the man and went on your way, checking everything. They were getting married in three days, and both of you wanted to make sure everything was ready.
“Honey, do you want—?” Jisung's question was cut short when a truck pulled up.
The flower truck.
“Miss,” said the young man as he stepped out of the truck, “here are the bouquets you ordered.”
“Perfect. Can we unload them and start setting them up?"
“Sure, why not.”
“Do you need any help?” Jisung asked.
“Excuse me, who are you?”
You beat Jisung to it. “He’s the groom,” you said, smiling. “My fiancé, Han Jisung,” you said. “The three of us have spoken on the phone, but unfortunately, you haven’t been able to meet in person yet.”
You saw Jisung’s eyes widen. You smiled as you picked up a small bouquet. “They’re beautiful.”
“Come on, guys! Let’s go.”
“You’re beautiful,” you heard a deep voice say. You laughed and turned around. “Did you really just call me that?”
“I’m so sorry for making you feel bad. And yes, you were right. I’m so proud of our relationship, and I love that we’re joining our lives together forever. From the very beginning, I should have called you what you deserved to be called.”
“I wasted a lot of time calling you my boyfriend instead of my fiancé. I'll do my best to say it over these next three days—soon you'll be so much more.” You smiled.
Jisung extended his arms and wrapped them around your waist; he pulled you close and kissed you gently on the lips. You giggled
“I love you so much, you know that?”

You moved the phone away from your mouth and looked at Han, who was finishing up clearing some plates. “What are you going to order?” Han was about to answer, but you beat him to it. “Besides a cheesecake.”
“Oh,” he said. “Samgyeopsal.” You nodded
“My husband would like some samgyeopsal and cheesecake for dessert.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Jisung do a double take. His big eyes were fixed on you, and his cheeks puffed out, forming an inevitable pout.
He looked so cute
“What?” You giggled
“What?”
“What what?”
“Did you just called me your husband?”
“Isn’t that what you are?”
“Tell them to leave the food outside; no one's going to let them in right now”
as my regulars already know, i have some very important exams in the second half of the year (pertaining to my dream job). this was precisely the reason i was so active in these 5 months of starting this account because i knew i would not be able to write much later on in the year. and that time has arrived where i am taking a formal hiatus from writing for a maximum of 3-4 months.
i will be active enough to chat sometimes and see my asks and dms, however i won't be able to write and neither do i want to pressurize myself into doing so at the cost of my future. thankyou so much for being understanding and i thoroughly appreciate your support 🩷
