Toonami is finished for the evening! The week’s goodie was a video game review for “West of Dead” which got a 7.5 out of 10. In other related news, it was announced at Virtual Crunchyroll Expo 2020 this weekend that Adult Swim and Crunchyroll are co-producing an anime adaptation of the Sega Dreamcast game Shenmue that will air on Toonami. With that out of the way, time for the recap:

Dragon Ball Super starts off the night with Goku and his team starts to choose the roster for the upcoming Tournament of Power. Meanwhile. Vegeta and Bulma await the birth of their baby but Whis did speed up the process a bit. We are introduced to their daughter Bulla. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind shows us a fierce battle between Bucciarati and Secco to get to the Colosseum first. While Secco’s Sanctuary gives him a run for his money, Bucciarati holds out long enough to defeat him. Assassination Classroom shows us, once again, an attempt and a failing of killing Koro-Sensei by the students. However, during this time, he helps a student whose baseball dreams was cut short and tells him to use what he learns to adapt to his style in assassinations. Meanwhile, another staff member is about to join the school and so is a new transfer student. Black Clover brings us to a conference with the Magic Knights Captain. When Asta and his group report their findings from what they learn about in the Heart Kingdom, Julius explains to everyone what they must do to beat Megicula. Fire Force continues the battle at Vulcan’s workshop. Shinra and Co. are still fighting against Dr. Giovanni, but they get help from Hibana later. Shinra also finally meets his brother Sho for the first time; however, it is not the happy reunion it is supposed to be. After the battle, Vulcan finally decides to join Company 8. Naruto Shippuden has Naruto arrive to help another team of shinobi who are having trouble with a reanimated samurai. Naruto recognizes the samurai from a previous mission in the past. We spend the rest of the episode following Naruto, Shikamaru, Ino and Chouji on their mission, which involves a rescuing a prince and Naruto and Chouji entering an eating competition. Samurai Jack ends the night with Ashi searching for Jack when he disappeared. Through her travels, she finds out how Jack has changed the world and the people around him.

Another Toonami night is finished! As stated last week, this weekend and next weekend are the Batman movies due to the DC Fandome event, so there is no regularly scheduled programming. Our goodies for tonight was a video game review for The Last of Us Part II, which got a 10 out of 10 score and a rerun of the two Rick and Morty anime shorts. There is not much to recap at all, so here is a short summary of this week’s two movies:

In Batman: Year One, we follow a young Detective Gordon, who’s new to the police force and dealing with the corruption from both inside the police and outside in the streets of Gotham City; while Bruce Wayne starts his vigilantism as the Batman through trial and error. Meanwhile in The Dark Knight Returns Part 1, an older Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement to become Batman and protects Gotham City, as well as face both his old and new foes one last time. However, some Gotham citizens wonder if Batman’s return is more of a help or a hindrance.

Another week down, another Toonami is finished! After last week’s Adult Swim Con edition, we go back to our regularly scheduled programing. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind finally makes its return to the block after its hiatus! Meanwhile, Mob Psycho 100 finishes its rerun with the Season 1 finale. Next week, Season 1 of Fire Force returns to the block at 1:00 am, replacing Mob Psycho 100. The show will be starting from Episode 15. Tonight’s goodie was a music video for “Top Down” by EarthGang. Now, time to recap!

Dragon Ball Super starts the night with Gohan and Lavender against each other in the second exhibition match! Despite Gohan not knowing anything about his opponent, he learns along the way as Lavender has some tricks up his sleeve. Though he does get poisoned and eventually his match is a draw, Gohan can still hold his own in battle. We also learn a bit more about the rules of the tournament and the consequences if the teams do not win. Final exhibition match: Goku vs. Bergamo! JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind has its episode focuses on the group getting in contact with a person who knows about their mission and how to stop the boss; his name now known as Diavolo. But to do so, they must meet him in Rome. All the while, two new assassins plan to impede their progress: Cioccolata and Secco. Mob Psycho 100 has Reigen facing against the remaining higher-level Claw members. It turns out that Mob had transferred his powers into Reigen. After knocking them down a peg or two with a mix of reality, common sense and just talking it out, Claw is disbanded for now. Things eventually go back to normal with Mob continuing to better himself, Ritsu having a better relationship with Mob and going with the student council president to apologize, the academy kids working with Teru to harness their skills to defend themselves and  Reigen now being able to sense spirts himself (and sense Dimple as well). Black Clover goes into learning about Gordon’s backstory and getting to meet his family. He askes for his Dad’s help on learning about curse magic and why his family does it, as well as trying to find a cure for Asta’s curse. Meanwhile, Noelle learns something new about her mother’s death and goes to Dorothy to find out more about the situation. Ballmastrz 9009’s two episodes focused on Flip and Leto. Flip’s episode is focused on him learning to be less of an ass and learn some empathy after meeting a fan through a “Make-A-Wish” type program. While his rudeness ended up turning his fan against him, they were able to stop him, but not in the way they expected. Leto’s episode focused on him being forced to be on a cooking competition show, even though he only really cooks for his friends as a hobby. In the end, he gathers the courage to step up and make his sandwiches and eventually wins the contest. Naruto Shippuden has a Neji and Hinata centric episode. It flashbacked to a time where Neji had watched over Hinata as she damaged her eyesight during training. Despite his cold nature, Neji (along with Naruto and Sakura) goes to find a plant to heal her. Samurai Jack finishes off the night with Jack recuperating after a previous battle. Despite his conscious taunting him, he decides to face off against the Daughters of Aku.

Toonami is finished for the night! We had a great time watching all the upcoming projects, the special Rick and Morty short, the interviews and The Pillows concert footage from the coverage of Adult Swim Con! While the majority is coming out next year, hopefully we might see some shows come to the block for the rest of this year too. The schedule times got moved down a bit due to the R & M short, so Samurai Jack did not appear tonight on the block. Without further ado, let us recap!

Dragon Ball Super starts off the night with Majin Buu facing off against the 9th Universe’s Basil in the first match of the Zeno Exhibition! While both sides are equal in power, Majin Buu wins the round. Next match up: Gohan versus Lavender! Paranoia Agent finishes with its final episode! All of Tokyo is destroyed due to a black mass enveloping the city. With Detective Ikari and Tsukiko still in the fantasy world and Detective Maniwa trying his best to go save him, we finally learn about what happened in Yukiko’s past and she finally faces her fears. While eventually things go back to normal, it is up to interpretation if the cycle will ever truly end. In Mob Psycho 100, Reigen arrives at Seventh Division but is mistakenly thought to be the leader of Claw. He frees Mob, Teru and Ritsu but are stopped by Ishiguro and the other Scars from progressing any further. Despite Reigan and Teru battling them, Mob hesitates on whether to fight or run, but Reigan tells Mob it is okay to save himself. But before Mob’s decision is made, Reigan gets attacked by Sakurai. And thus, Mob goes 100%. Black Clover has Yami, Asta and Nero going to visit Captain Charlotte to talk about her experience with forbidden and cursed magic. But Charlotte, still reeling from memories of having her body possessed by Charla and thinking she might have exposed her true feelings to Yami, leaves in a hurry. While she eventually tells her team about her feelings, they support her decision with open arms (except for Sol, who is upset about it). However, Yami is totally oblivious to the situation at hand. While Charlotte cannot help them with cursed magic, someone on the Black Bulls probably can. Enter Gordon! Ballmastrz 9009’s first episode includes Babyball suddenly gaining a body after a wish from Crayzar and his attitude changing to being nicer. But it also weakens his ability to play on the field, which causes Ace to be upset at Babyball.  While Ace and Babyball eventually get back together to play normally, Babyball reverts to his original attitude. The second episode deals with Dee Dee going to save Gaz from Bergdorf Sanguine, a man she picked up at a dive bar. He turns out to be a vampire and Dee Dee reveals that she used to be a vampire hunter (or in her case, a pest exterminator). Dee Dee, Ace and Babyball head over to Bergdorf’s to face off against him and his army of monsters. Naruto Shippuden finishes the night with Shikamaru, Neji, Chouji and Kiba, still trapped by the Sound Ninja Four with their souls in the barrier. The Sound Ninja Four explains that they were reanimated so they could seek their revenge and that they were working for Orochimaru. As time starts running out to save them, Ino, Shino and Naruto come to their aid to save their comrades.

Another night of Toonami is done! After the Dragon Ball Super marathon last weekend, we are back to our regular schedule with a few changes! Dragon Ball Super comes back to the block to replace My Hero Academia’s slot! Meanwhile, unexpectedly, Samurai Jack returned at the end of the block as well! Our special goodie for tonight was a video game review of “Maneater”, which got a 7 out of 10 score! Let us do a quick recap!

Dragon Ball Super starts off the night with the beginning of the Universal Survival arc! While everyone is resuming their daily lives, Goku want to start training again. Despite both Beerus and Whis telling him not to do it, Goku visits the two Zenos anyway to convince them to hold a universe wide martial arts tournament, to which they agree! Paranoia Agent has Lil’ Slugger in a confrontation with Misae Ikari, the wife of Detective Ikari. Despite Lil’ Slugger’s efforts to intimidate and attack her, she not only calls him out on his behavior but explains that humans are capable of facing reality by not running away into a fantasy. Meanwhile, Mr. Ikari, now working in several jobs, suddenly disappears and does not return home, causing his wife and Detective Maniwa to worry. Mob Psycho 100 has Mob, Teru and Dimple start heading towards the Claw hideout, Seventh Division, to find Ritsu and Mob faces off against Koyama again. At the same time, Ritsu and the children from the Awakening Lab are still under surveillance and when one of the kids are taken away, they plan to save him and escape the Seventh Division without getting caught. Black Clover continue its short recap episode with Nero retelling of how she turned into a bird, meeting Asta for the first time, learning about his grimoire and the lead up to the resurrection of the elves and their battle with the devil from the past. With all that behind her, Nero, now as Secré, has a new family in the Black Bulls. Ballmastrz 9009’s two episodes deal with Gaz getting into shape and losing her beer belly while also making a bet with Babyball with either of them doing something embarrassing if one of them loses; the other episode has The Leptons facing off against Gaz’s former team the Boom Boom Boys and the Leptons finally winning their first game by one point. With this, Crayzar tells Gaz that she can go to a new team, but she decides to drink instead. Naruto Shippuden has the return of the Sound Ninja Four due to the reanimation jutsu. It is up to Shikamaru, Choji, Neji and Kiba to face off against their rivals again in a long-awaited rematch. Samurai Jack finishes off the night with Jack having now spent 50 years in the future and still trying to find his way back home. But now without his sword, new enemies and constant hallucinations, the task is even harder than before.

Another night of Toonami is in the books! Tonight, we had the final episode of Season 4 of My Hero Academia! We also had an announcement of a Fourth of July Dragon Ball Super marathon for next weekend, so our line-up will return in two weeks. Until then, here is the recap.

My Hero Academia has conclusion of the battle between Endeavor and Hawks against High-End. It is a fierce battle against a tough enemy, with some drama, close calls, and some very explosive attacks. The battle shows everyone what the new number one hero brings to the next era. Paranoia Agent shows us behind the scenes of the anime production of “Mellow Maromi”, as the crew tries to reach their deadline. We follow staff member Naoyuki Saruta as he delivers the finished first episode to the broadcast station. However, with his constant dosing off, remembering how the production went with the constant problems he makes towards the other staff and eventually the deaths of them one-by-one, Lil’ Slugger is not too far behind him. Mob Psycho 100 has Mob confront Ritsu after the battle between the gang leaders from the other schools. While Mob learns that Ritsu has gained psychic powers and congratulates him on finally getting them, Ritsu treats his brother coldly. However, they are targeted by a mysterious esper and a fight ensues. When Ritsu is taken, Mob unleashes his power and fights him, but is knocked out by the man later. With Teru helping him recover, him, Mob and Dimple plan to find out where Ritsu and the other esper children were taken by the group called Claw. Black Clover has the first of two recap episodes. Nero remembers the events of what had led up to the conflict from 500 years before; from meeting Prince Lumiere when she was known as Secré, their friendship with Licht and the elves and the unfortunate undoing of everything when the devil plans the attack on the elves by the humans killing them and the lead up to Lumiere having to destroy his friend Licht as a demon. Ballmastrz 9009’s first episode starts with The Leptons dealing with a biker gang, as Dee Dee gets into a fight and instantly gets noticed by the leader. But when Leto says that she is not his girlfriend, she “dumps” him decides to join the biker gang. To win her back, Leto is challenged to a bike race and he defeats the leader. In the second episode, Ace gains a B.E.H.O addiction when he brings some into the animal shelter he volunteers at and accidentally eat them. Things quickly spiral out of control as he later takes out his stress of both his own team and other ones, turns into a blob monster after consuming so many of them and eats his teammates. It is up to Gaz to bring him back down and she promises him that the team will go the animal shelter to help. Naruto Shippuden ends the night with Gaara and Ohnoki still fighting against the Second Mizukage and his mirage attacks. This time, he sends out a clone of the steam imp to fight while the Mizukage continues to test Gaara’s skills.
