Environmental Whump

Take Whumpee and put them in an environment they aren't prepared for.

Whumpee used to high humidity tossed into a desert. They vastly underestimate the amount of fluid they need and have to deal with annoyances like chapped lips and random bloody noses.

Cold weather Whumpee who doesn't know how to cool down

Hot weather Whumpee having trouble keeping themselves warm

Costal Whumpee put in high elevation struggling to breathe after a normal staircase

Plains Whumpee getting lost in a dense forest

Not so reluctant Whumper

Hero gets captured by Villain.

Villain tells them they'll let them go if they are willing to torture some information out of a henchmen that turned traitor.

Hero reluctantly agrees.

As they start to get into it Villain realizes their reluctance is more just for show. Villain can see the sharp joy in their eyes, the grin tugging at the edges of their mouth.

Villain leaves and once they're gone Hero really starts to get into it.

Villain watches the camera feed as hero mocks their victim. Villain watches as they refuse to stop even once the information they wanted is given up.

Villain watches,

And so does the rest of the world.

Halloween Whump?

Restraints or injuries hidden under a costume. Whumpee's odd movements are assumed to be intentional.

Whumpee hands out candy to trick or treaters. Whumper is hiding just out of sight ready to punish them if they even think about stepping outside or asking for help.

Whumper gives Whumpee some candy. Could be tampered with, could be perfectly safe. Whumpee won't know unless they try some.

Unconventional Whump

Itching powder/mosquito bites

More Used as Bait failiures

Whumpee is tied to a post in the middle of an open area while Whumper waits nearby to ambush the rescue they assume is coming. Hours pass, the sun dips low in the sky, and yet there is no sign of anybody coming to help.

Whumper sends out a list of demands for Whumpees return. The response they get isn't the frantic attempts at negotiation they expected. Instead it's a single word. No.

Despite reassurances that their stay will end when Team Lead comes for them Whumpee never stops trying to escape. Whumper finally realizes why after a month has passed.

Using a Whumpee as bait and the angst of their team/Caretaker trying to get them back is fun, however I'm also a huge fan of a team/Caretaker doing the bare minimum or nothing at all in response to their capture.

Caretaker hanging up in the middle of the ransom call or not sending a reply

The team not even flinching when Whumper holds a knife to Whumpee's throat

The betrayal in Whumpee's eyes as they are left behind OR the quiet resignation of someone who knew they were never going to be saved

Does Whumper go through with their threats? Do they use the opportunity to try and sway Whumpee to their side?

Team Whump but one of the members is pulled away/treated better because they're useful and it isn't the medic.

The Cook, who is allowed to eat full servings of the meals they create.

The Mechanic, who gets to go outside to repair things.

The Artist, who is given space and materials to create.

Does the separation put strain on their bonds to the team? Do they use their extra freedom to try and help the others or do they stay compliant out of fear of being treated like the rest?

Mistaken Identity

Whumper strode into the room, their villainous outfit almost melting into the shadows they passed as they approached Whumpee. Whumpee was tied to a chair, blindfolded, and gagged; their skin a mess of bruises and scrapes.

"Ah, hero, so nice to see you. I see my men did quite the number on you while picking you up, yet not a single one needed to see my medic. Are you feeling alright? It'd be so boring if you lost your touch. Those other heroes can't even come close to-"

Whumper cut themselves off as they noticed something odd. A scar they had given the hero a few months back was missing.

"Oh?"

Whumpee stiffened as Whumper let their fingers glide up Whumpee's arm, looking for the divots and slight changes in texture that would indicate their scars.

Nothing.

There was no scar where they'd put a bullet through the heroes arm last year. No line where they'd gotten the hero down to the bone with a hidden dagger. Not even some slight discoloration where there should have been the remains of a harsh chemical burn.

"Henchmen."

"Yes, boss?"

"Send me the file we have on our guest."

Whumper scanned the file, looking for anything that could explain the heroes miraculous recovery. When they got to the part on the hero's secret identity and their family they barely resisted the urge to swear.

The hero had an identical twin.

"So sorry about the mix up."

Villain shifted almost awkwardly on their feet as their henchmen untied Civilian.

"I was aiming for Hero. Targeting someone's family isn't really my thing. I find it to be quite rude."

Civilian still hadn't lifted their head to look at Villain despite the blindfold being one of the first things removed.

"Obviously I'm going to send you over to my medic in a minute but is there anything you want to, eh, put this little mistake behind us? I'm quite rich. Loads of stolen art and artifacts. I don't suppose you have an enemy you want taken care of?"

Civilian's shoulders shook as they muffled a sob behind a trembling hand.

"Hm, well... Give it a thought and if you come up with anything before you leave just let one of my men know."

With that Villain quickly left the room, sending a message to their medic as they went.

Restraints

The kinds of restraints you use and how they're applied can add a lot to your story.

Duct Tape: Is it messily applied or neat? Is Duct Tape the best Whumper can do or is it a temporary measure?

Cuffs: Normal handcuffs vs padded cuffs. Are they tightened correctly or did Whumper tighten them a bit more just to be safe? Do they nullify any powers Whumpee might have?

Chains: Are their limbs chained together? Are they chained to an object or the wall? Are the chains heavy enough to effect Whumpee?

Straightjacket: I don't know where to get one of these, so I'd assume many Whumper's wouldn't either. Why do they have this? Did they get it just for Whumpee?

Chemical: No need for physical restrains if Whumpee is kept asleep or too weak to stand.

Injuries: If Whumpee is too hurt to move then they can't leave.

Threats: Works best with an obvious power imbalance. Whumper makes it clear they see no need to restraining Whumpee since there is no way for Whumpee to escape them.

Look, I love whump.

But. I have my limits.

Saw someone post an actual execution of an IRL person in the kidnapping whump tag. That's not whump. That is a HUMAN FUCKING BEING WITH A LIFE AND ALL BEING ACTUALLY MURDERED.

So yeah. Don't look up the kidnapping whump or whump tag, and if y'all end up seeing it already, block and report.

Caretaker -> Carewhumper -> Whumper

Caretaker was good at their job. They were. It was their patients that were the issue. Most of them were fine, but there were always those few that weren't.

The ones that wouldn't stop complaining or telling Caretaker how to do their job or trying to leave early and undoing all their hard work.

Caretaker is professional and kind and patient; but there's only so much they can take.

Their methods of care slowly start to get colder, doing just what was required when they used to go above and beyond. Extra blankets and a comforting hand becoming things of the past as Caretaker becomes bitter and jaded.

Healing and hurt go hand and hand. Caretaker was no stranger to causing pain while trying to help someone. Yet they found themselves starting to do it on purpose.

Their fingers pressing a little more harshly than needed on inflamed skin as they bandaged a wound. Movements rougher than they used to be as they tested someone's range of motion.

At first Caretaker was disgusted by their own actions but eventually started to make excuses and rationalize it. It was okay as long as it was only the bad patients. It was okay if they didn't cause more damage.

It was okay to tell the guy who wouldn't stop poking at his bandages that they were out of painkillers.

It was okay to let the woman who couldn't walk stay on the floor for half an hour. It was her fault for trying to get up against orders.

It was okay.

It was okay to give the person who'd been in and out of their care a dozen times this year an extra sedative, steal them away and lock them up far away from any help.

Whumper was just going to teach them a little lesson. No harm in that, right?

'Care'whumper

Whumpee is hurt and winds up in the hands of who they think is a well meaning but inexperienced Caretaker.

The bandages are a little tight and 'Caretaker' is a bit too rough when applying them but always apologizes.

Whumpee is pretty sure the wound doesn't need to be disinfected every day but either doesn't know better or doesn't want to sound ungrateful when 'Caretaker' is doing so much for them.

Whumper loves how compliant and trusting their new plaything is.

Whumpee takes the pills Whumper gives them without a second thought, even though the 'pain meds' never work and just make them feel worse.

Whumpee doesn't protest as Whumper runs their hands across their body. Somehow the excuse of 'looking for hidden damage' is enough to quell their worries.

Each time Whumper pushes a boundary they're sure it will be the final straw, that Whumpee will finally struggle and protest, yet that never happens. Whumper has wrapped their prey so thoroughly in their web that they could do just about anything and Whumpee wouldn't say a word.
