My entry for Claire Nunez Appreciation Week, Day 5: Learning Magic

You know that projection magic Claire made back in Wizards where she made butterflies fly in front of Jim and herself?

What if she learned how to do it from someone? Before Douxie started helping her- And of course Merlin never helped her with her magic.

What if Strickler, who knows some magics, taught her that little projection trick?

I drew this picture of Claire happily learning projection magic from Strickler. 🙂

This takes place after the end of Trollhunters but before the Green Knight attacks Jim.

I also drew this due to @shadowmancer1215 bringing up this event to me and suggested for Day 5 with Strickler added in it, so I did it. Enjoy! 😊

Week 1: time loop/Interdimensional

Nothing to say, changeling Barbara in THE angor rot vs Strickler and Jim episode

i dont really like the way this come out, i'm NOT good drawing trolls at all, but I wanted to try

I wanted to make Barbara have four eyes because of how people with glasses are called like that, also, I gave Barbara a whip weapon, no particular reason, I just thought it was cool

Week one: Interdimensional

“CHAPTER I: THE WATER WARS”

Barbara and Strickler had been enjoying a peaceful life in Arcadia. One day, Barbara accidentally touched an ancient magical stone that Jim had stumbled upon—a mysterious relic said to send anyone who touched it into another dimension.

In an instant, Strickler was swept up with her, and the two found themselves stranded on the distant planet Nevarro.

There, they encountered the Mandalorian, a legendary bounty hunter, and his adopted son, Grogu. With the pair’s help, Barbara and Strickler began searching for a way back to their own world.

But even the greatest adventures call for a moment of rest…. So, just for today, they set aside thoughts of returning home and joined Grogu for a lively game of Water Wars!.

Obviously, they’re doing this after the sun goes down.

Just a little headcanon of mine. 😂

Here are some random notes about this AU, including the setting and how Strickler and Barbara first met Mando and Grogu.

Since the Star Wars universe is such a dangerous place, I feel like Strickler and Barbara would first make sure they had weapons and other essentials. And I absolutely need Barb to use a broom as her weapon!

With Strickler by her side, Barb would feel pretty safe most of the time. She’s probably the more optimistic one, while Strickler stays on high alert to keep them both out of danger.

I can totally imagine the two of them gathering information in a cantina when Mando spots them. He takes one look at Strickler and goes, “Wait… green skin… long claws… Are you the same species as this kid?!” while pointing at Grogu. That’s how they end up meeting!

And I just know Barb would adore little creatures and babies, so I can totally picture her happily holding Grogu.

Meanwhile, while Barbara is happily holding Grogu, Strickler absentmindedly brushes a hand against one of Grogu’s ears, thinking, “A distant relative of NotEnrique, perhaps? The size is certainly comparable…” Or perhaps not. 😂

“Relaxing on a day off”🫖☕️💐

I wanted to draw the two of them relaxing together.

Strickler notices Barbara looks a bit cold and puts a blanket over her shoulders…

—or does it kind of look like he’s taking the blanket away instead…? (?)

They’ve each made their favorite drinks, maybe they’re watching a movie —

or maybe they’re just sitting close together in silence.

If this is set after LoTT, I wonder what Jim would think if he came home and saw them like this?

Before the time reset, I can totally imagine Jim going, “Hey!!” in protest —

but post-LoTT, I feel like he’d look a little sad… and yet secretly happy, too.

I’ve been practicing drawing human-version Strickler lately, and—

also… what is going on with his hair, seriously???

It’s way too hard to draw… Is he using hair product to keep it like that??

Is it actually long if he lets it down…??

Strickler seems like he is about to put the blanket on Barbara to keep her warm. I can imagine he would take it off if she were feeling too hot.

I think they could be looking at something peaceful that would make them look relaxed like this, along with what you said. 🙂 I think Jim after Rise of the Titans would just smile and be happy for them if he saw them like this. If Jim saw them like this back during Season 1 of Trollhunters, he would for sure be protesting and getting all mad. XD

About Strickler's hair, he most likely is using pomade for it- a hair product that allows people to style their hair and keep their hair in their preferred style for a while, along with keeping it looking shiny and smooth. 🙂

Some men who like to make themselves look very formal, fancy, clean and to look good around other people, would put pomade in their hair. Strickler is a guy who is like that and would want to make his impression of himself look good in front of others. 🙂

His hair is in a classic pompadour style, which is why the middle of his hair looks raised. If it weren't raised, his hair would fall down to the base of his neck. It would probably be as long as his hair in troll form.

I’m really happy that the cozy, relaxed feeling came through — and yes, I love the idea that Strickler would gently put the blanket on Barbara… or take it off if she got too warm. That feels very him!!!!!!!😍

I also completely agree about Jim! Post–Rise of the Titans Jim smiling and being quietly happy for them feels right to me, while Season 1 Jim would absolutely be protesting and freaking out 😂

Also… thank you for the hair explanation!! 🥹✨　Pomade makes so much sense, and the idea of Strickler being very particular about looking formal, polished, and presentable fits his character perfectly. The classic pompadour explanation helps a lot too — no wonder the middle looks so raised!

Actually, I still have a question… (sorry for asking instead of properly looking it up 😭)

Is the lighter gray part also part of his longer hair? Like, is it all brushed back from the front and smoothed down overall?

I honestly thought the gray part was cut shorter, kind of like an undercut 🤓！！

I drew something from The Nightmare Before Christmas — though my memory of it is a little fuzzy 🤓

Lately I’ve been so busy that, sadly, my motivation to draw has gotten a bit smaller… I haven’t even been able to reblog things 😭💦

“Kobujime” means kelp-cured (kombu-jime) — it’s a traditional cooking method from my country.

You wrap raw fish (like sashimi) in kelp, which draws out the moisture and adds the rich umami flavor from the kelp. It’s so delicious 🤤 (Yes… I’m a foodie, haha!)

I chose it partly because I love that kind of food, but also because back when I was chatting on Twitter (now X) about manga and anime ships, I used to joke with a catchphrase like, “They taste better kobujime’d—munch munch!” 😂 The name stuck, and I’ve been using it ever since 🤓

Strickler and Barbara raising the changeling familiars has so much potential.

Strickler likes to have things around his neck since he doesn't have natural feathers/frill there, that's why he likes turtle necks. why I drew him with a scarf.

Jim also gets to learn how to be a big brother. Also troll Jim, because I love him. Ignore that he got changed back in Wizards.
