windows XP came out in 2001 (2001 was twenty two years ago) and its last update was put out in 2008 (2008 was fifteen years ago), since XP windowls has released Vista, 7, 8, 10, and finally the most curent windows version windows 11. so no XP wasnt one or two generations ago…. it was five generations ago…. and that is…. wow

A bit late posting as I was hoping to finish this Saturday at the end of last week’s play through, but here’s my contribution to Clue Crew Play Thru 2023!!

Inspired by Alan’s 13 Ghosts game in Curse of Blackmoor Manor, I wanted this to feel whimsical and airy like the ghosts themselves. The blue fabric was inspired by Brigitte’s room, which has remained my Dream Home inspiration for literally like 15 years now. Overall this was fun to think about and design as I played through the game, can’t wait for the rest of this year to come!!

Jellyfish Specimen Sandwich

Realized I hadn't seen enough art of the god-tier sandwich you can make in Danger on Deception Island and decided to be the change I wanted to see in the world.

I'm making a spread of inventory items from DDI and decided to start with the sandwich you can make at the start of the game. More items to follow, and possibly more spreads. I'm thinking at least SHA and CAR. What would be your favorite inventory spread to see?

Lessons learned from DDI

1. Wear a life jacket while kayaking. If you don’t, you will immediately drown and die.

2. Wear a helmet while biking. If you don’t, you will immediately flip your bike three times, be thrown 100 feet, and fucking die.

3. Don’t eat expired mayonnaise. If you do, you will immediately contract food poisoning, and then later probably fucking die.

4. Don’t paddle one inch past the channel markers in your kayak. If you do, you will immediately be forever lost to the void, never to be seen or heard from ever again. And most likely fucking die.

5. And finally, do NOT call the police when you suspect someone is involved in some extremely shady and dangerous business. Instead, ask a curly-haired virtual stranger to take you out to a giant ship in the middle of the night, climb aboard, and save the day like the perfect golden girl you are.

subtle but incredibly underrated mhm 'haunting' - the chair in the entrance hall

the moving swan table in the parlour gets a lot of love - and deservedly so! it's creepy and memorable and the blink-and-you'll miss-it speed leaves you doing a double take, unsure if you really saw it move or if the creepy atmosphere is getting the better of you

but I've always had a fondness for the way the chair 'haunting' works in almost the opposite way; rather than something quick that moves in a way it's decidedly not supposed to, at first you don't necessarily notice there's anything strange about what you're seeing. and then, slowly, you catch the seat shifting back to normal and you realize that something invisible must have been there, right in front of you, and you didn't even notice.

such a delightful way to build up the mansion's atmosphere and leave you, the viewer, second-guessing every frame. spooky and elegant. chef's kiss.

Day 7 of Drewtober was the Bone Yard's Birch Beer (if memory serves, kept on tap particularly for Vivian Whitmore). I don't have any birch syrup or birch saplings so no real world version today :-P

My first kick at the can for day one of Drewtober as instigated by @knock-off-krolmeister here. For the menu item from Maxime's, I went with the Daryl, which I assumed that Jake designed to represent Daryl a.k.a. basic as white bread (at least in the remaster)

Recipe #119 - Cranachan 

I hand whipped the cream because I don’t own a mixer…my arm is still on fire. 

I’m really pleased with how this one came out! Also pleased with the fact that I was able to reuse some things from past recipes. I used the cups and spoons from my chocolate mayhem recipe to help with assembly, the oats from my scotch pies and the brandy from my black bun recipe. Always nice when that works out. 

This recipe called for “folding” the toasted oats into the cream and I couldn’t stop thinking about that scene from Schitt’s Creek where they argue about what folding means. You wouldn’t know it from looking at it but every layer of this thing has booze. Both the raspberry layers and the cream layers have brandy in them. I don’t drink because I don’t like the taste of alcohol, but I feel it was subtle enough here to work for me. I’m sure you could make this alcohol free as well, but it would be pretty plain if you did. The toasted oats were probably the most “traditional” part of this dish and I feel like they were the surprise MVP. They helped hold the layers together and gave a nice little crunch to each bite.

-1/3 cup whisky (I used brandy instead)

-2 cups of fresh raspberries

-3 Tbsp whisky

-3 Tbsp honey

-2 tsp sugar

-2 cups of heavy whipping cream
