Hello. This is about us removing Pussy Trauma's IF intro post from our blog due to the author's usage of GenAi in her character profiles.

Even after repeated clarifications, we have been receiving asks sent in bad faith, filled with name-calling and no intention of understanding our point. Pure vitriol.

This is unacceptable.

Please understand that our team isn't a group of people finding joy in all this hate and harrasment that has been spread around. We never asked for this. We only wish to stand by our values.

We are human beings, capable of mistakes but also capable of good change. People change over time and so do we.

In the future, any hateful asks sent to us (about this or any other topic) will not be entertained in the slightest, deleted and the user who sent them will be blocked without warning.

We also ask the community to refrain from sending hate to LG, the author of Pussy Trauma. We do not condone it and never wished for it to happen. We apologize for taking so long to address this.

Every person has their own opinion about this matter, and it's your personal choice to support something or not. The answer is not to send hate to the side that disagrees with you, just don't interact with it.

Our blog is not forcing people to pick our side, so please don't believe that we are actively targeting certain people and trying to push them out of the community.

Hi here because of the infamous ask game

Band name, Albums and Quitting.

My first ever ask!

Well for starters my MC's name is Lou Rose, a Mexican-American woman from Boston. I still can't decide if they were born in Mexico and originally named Guadalupe (Guadalupe->Lupe->Lou) Rosas (Rose) Labastida, or if she was born in Boston and her parents decided to anglicize her name.

Brand-name: The name of the band is The Leatherettes, they were originally a punk band before Seven's departure. Other names that were floated around were Tusk and Crashing Noise, but in the end they went for Leatherettes because it sounded way more "classy" while it still had a certain edge to it. It also helped that most of the members (Lou, Seven, Jazzy, Iris and Devyn) were in the female spectrum, and I'm sure that Rowan didn't care much about it. After Seven left I'm almost sure that the suggestion came from some of the bandmates to change the name, but Lou certainly refused because it felt that it would be throwing out the last remains of the time she had with Seven (albums and music not withstanding).

Albums: The band has never released a full length LP, mainly EPs and stand-alone singles. They have in total 6 EPs, 4 before Seven left and 2 after; the first 4 were mainly in the punk pop/rock genre, with a heavy mix of fun, love and personal songs. At that time Lou mostly followed Seven's lead and wrote more personal stuff about her parents and overall loneliness, but also her fair share of fun songs. However, after Seven left the band it had a heavy shift, with them abandoning punk and going into new wave, post punk and indie rock/pop; she stopped publishing the personal songs (never stopped writing them and in fact has a huge catalogue of them, but is afraid of opening that whole can of worms; nonetheless BOTB is bringing the worms out and it's pushing her artistic boundaries in that sense), and focused more on experimenting with themes and lyrics. She is very influenced by Talking Heads, the Smiths, Paramore, David Bowie, New Order, The 1975, Japanese Breakfast and the early and more experimental albums by Misfit Alley.

Quitting: Before the competition, never. Lou had never thought of quitting either the band or the music; when her parents brought it up, she started to dig in the trench deeper and cling desperately to it (even though she still longs for their approval); and when Seven left, she reworked most of their duet songs into solo ones, but she never thought of actually leaving, just remaking them. I think the competition, or more accurately the prospect of fame, has left her wondering if she wants it. But the suggestion of Roxy (if she wins the second challenge) of going into songwriting and not being in the spotlight is growing very quickly on her. Again, I don't think she will ever quit music, but she certainly wants the more modest and calm stuff.

Actually, I'm lying. Lou thought of quitting the band at the very beginning, as she was very insecure about the whole thing. If it wasn't for Seven being there, she probably wouldn't have gone through with it and instead would have been a historian. She loves writing with historical figures/events as metaphors or allegories, and she finished her college degree in history.

Another IF author whom I'm friends with and I have now decided to support each other and try and get updates for our respective projects out before the end of June. It's a lofty goal, but also somewhat realistic, so I want to try. This is my aspiration, but I can't make any promises, given how much writing Press Play seems to have taken out of me lately. But yeah, just something to maybe give you guys a little hope :)

I think a bit more distance between readers and IF authors should be a tiny bit more normalized

Like, I understand why it happens. IF is a very niche platform, and the type that is prevalent in Tumblr is even more niche, so constant interaction is important to keep people interest in the story, and many times motivate the writer in a process that is frequently lonely and draining of concentrating for hours of writing and coding to release a single chapter

(Like for gods sake the average if chapter at this point is the size of a small book counting every variable! There is so much IFS that are threatening the 1 million word threshold! Writing so much is exhausting mentally!)

And many times the asks are used to either harass authors or make very ???? Affirmations. Like, I am sure we only see a small percentage of batshit rude asks that authors recieve.

Also I think many of the asks would be more fun as discussions amongst the fandom of that if. A bit of "Death of the Author" were we dont constantly turn to the author seeking validation for our interpretation. Let's have fun discussing analogies, allegory and references that wanst in the intent of the author.

Seeking Translation Help

In preparation for the next demo update, I’m looking for someone who speaks Hungarian or another Eastern European language to help me with some translations for Starfellan, which is inspired by a mix of Eastern European cultures. Right now, I’ve done research on Hungarian interjections etc for L’s dialogue, but I’m flexible on switching them to another language based on who can hopefully help! :) As thanks, I’ll offer early access for the demo update!
