(Okay, so this like low key might be the best piece of art Iāve ever made and Iām just likeā¦ ackā¦ feeling proud of myself esp. when I look at the art I posted at the beginning of this blog)

the ONLY time I'm fine with this is when the character is STILL unusual after whatever event changed them, just in a different way. bonus points if they're upset about the change. EVEN THEN YOU (pointing my fingers around at no one) ARE ON THHHIIINNNNN ICE

this includes characters who say things that don't make sense, have memory issues, behave irrationally, and more. I'm talking about characters who represent a wide range of neurological differences. not just autism or adhd!

Late night post, I HAD to make some fanart for In the Name of Hope. If youāre interested in somewhat OOC serial killer Komaeda (OOC bc. serial killer) then you should definitely check it out! I love it, it definitely satisfies some weird itch of mine. Anyways, I made him. I havenāt made a more realistic Komaeda in a long time and the improvement is crazy honestly. Also heās āhealthyā in this au so I got away with making him look healthy šš¼

Not at all! I just have been struggling lately with some medication complications thatās been messing with my health. The next chapter is likeā¦ 20% written. But I try to get a paragraph or so in when I can. I canāt say when itāll be posted but probably within a month or two for sure. Been thinking about it a lot. Plus I got doodles for it I wanna postā¦. and there's something about how, yeah, they fell into despair, but that doesn't mean they can't become symbols of hope again
like...nagito doesn't believe in redemption
or they've already reached the end of their hope so whatever they get back will never be as much hope as it could have been so they're no good anymore

Nagito's hope is a destructive hope.
This is one of my personal soapbox topics: That morality is not defined by what a person is against, but rather by what they're for. As mirror images of one another, Makoto and Nagito reflect this distinction.
Makoto and Nagito both believe in hope. But Makoto's is a positive belief. He likes it when people are happy and allowed to live their best lives. That's what he's for. It's not a complicated for but it is one - and one he believes in so devoutly that he even tries to offer it to Junko, of all people.
Makoto can believe in redemption because forgiveness, atonement, and rehabilitation are values that can exist within the framework of people being happy and living their best lives.
If Monokuma never happened, Makoto would be very happy. All he wants is "good things for people". If everyone gets to be happy and live their best life then that's a win in his book.
Nagito's hope, on the other hand, isn't for anything. It's against despair. He defines hope combatively, as triumphing over and vanquishing despair. His idea of success is simply winning against his enemy, who themselves must exist in order to give him an enemy to win against.
If Monokuma never happened, Nagito would be miserable. He needs despair to thrive, or else hope has no value as an opposing force against it. He isn't even trying to win. He doesn't want to annihilate despair; He just wants to fight it, to be consumed as a resource in an eternal conflict between forces.
Nagito can't believe in redemption because his values demand the perpetual existence of an enemy. There is nothing that he's for; Only a hyperbolic force that he's against.
if u genderbend komaeda and u make her conventionally attractive uve missed the point in its entirety. she needs to be sweaty and spindly and weird and crawl around on all fours. just like she does as a man. its equality and feminism
