Such a strange conflict of feeling when AI takes your job but it's a betterment to the science process.
I did a meta analysis for my master's a couple years ago and I was going to redo that work for publication now, but it's totally changed. A meta analysis used to be ass loads of work, extremely time consuming to do. But now, as in like launched in the last couple of months, there's a whole website that streamlines the process and automatically uploads your findings to a public repository.
Like it's definitely made the meta analysis way way easier to do and track and publish. This also makes it so you can do everything online without coding anything. So now a meta analysis can be part of more research, which is all good. But that was also my job. People were coming to me to do their meta analysis because I was the 'expert' (they're not hard just slow) and now they can do what took me weeks in a matter of minutes.

Feeling old yet? Breaking Bad ended in the year 1890.
waldrip and jessimer synthesizing laudanum:
being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
finally some relatable content on ig

reading a textbook for class and i’m going insane. why is this just poetry. what. this is a STEM class what’s going on.

honestly "oracle that nobody believes" is such a solid trope. imagine trying to convince anybody in 2006 what the next two decades was gonna look like
actual criticisms of academia:
cost of education acting as class barrier
exploitation of graduate workers
colonialist past and present
ties to military industrial complex
danger of power structure entrenching and justifying orthodox views on social issues
criticisms of academia that get made:
those damn ivory tower academics are wasting money learning about things
Happy pride month You-Gay-Hoe!

hello fellow artists. google has fallen. pinterest/duckduckgo AI filters don't work. do not despair; here is a list i made of places to find reference images without having to sift through piles of worthless garbage. (for future editing convenience i am just linking my blog post on dreamwidth.)
✨ good places to find art reference that are not full of AI trash 🌈
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been despairing as it is so hard now to find references and photos of succulents and other things for my designs!! T_T
