ā iām not sure i know who iām supposed to be anymore. ā // for nora
āruby, what are you...ā
the admission of shock comes first-- and all of the sudden, noraās on the beach they never got to go to --Ā horror lapping at her feet instead of water as the city crumbles behind her.Ā
even if noraād experienced it once too many times -- with jaune and ren and pyrrha --Ā the end of the world doesnāt come like sheād expected it to. thereās no time for teary goodbyes or even an opportunity to talk things out, only the coldness of regret and could have beens. just a slow steady crumbling, everything chipping away at her friends and team and --Ā
too late.
in the end, no matter how loud sheād yelled, how loud sheād shouted for everything to get away-- sheād just never been enough.
the end of the world never comes as sheād expected it to.
this time, itās a flame that flickers, so close to being out, burning a candle thatās far too low, trying to grasp at anything to keep it going. nora sees this, immediately. and even if she doesnāt know whatād going on in rubyās mind, concern flickers first and foremost.Ā
this time, she refuses to be late.
noraās hands fall to rest on rubyās shoulders, a blanket of warmth -- then pulling her in for a hug.Ā
what are you talking about! youāre everything. youāre bright and cheerful and--Ā
( who is she saying this to? )
āyou donāt have to know. we can figure things out. together.ā
