That’s right. No one likes a group of immature people who believe that they’re better than everyone else. Do you really think that stanning multiple groups “hurts” BTS in any way? It’s called loving and supporting. Now, there’s even a Twitter thread that says for any awards ceremonies, whether in the USA or in South Korea, that they’re going to make sure that “no other groups” win because they aren’t BTS. Do you think spreading around on Twitter that all groups that aren’t BTS should go and die is okay? Attacking and mocking fandoms isn’t going to get you anywhere. BTS has a huge fandom. And immature ARMY’s are showing to the world that those people are the fans representing the group. Grow up. Show some respect. You don’t have to stan every group you see, but you also don’t have to “dislike” videos and comment things like “you guys aren’t BTS haha” on literally everything. Literally just shut up, clap your hands for BTS, and move on. BTS isn’t the only thing in the world. The world doesn’t revolve around BTS. Do you think Namjoon likes knowing that you guys are always attacking groups for everything? BTS and Exo are FRIENDS. They want their fans to be friends. Being a fan is being happy and spreading love and showing that they care about their band, not spreading some stupid stuff about everything. “They copied _____’s hair color!”

To ARMYs: Please, educate your fandom on what is okay and what is not. Please. Keep spreading love and respect. Please teach them that respect is real. Thank you for being the TRUE fans. 

To everyone else: Do not attack BTS for anything. Don’t make up mean names or mock them. Don’t fight fire to fire. It only creates a bigger fire. If someone’s being rude or disrespectful, report them. Don’t go and start bigger, unneccessary drama. Of course theres going to be a few disputes here and there, but please. Be respectful and kind. Don’t call ARMYs “armpits” regardless to what they called us. Show the world that even though we face a lot, we’re still strong. We’re still here. Be kind.

And BigBang doesn’t need youtube veiws or a high follow count to feel validated about their fame, or to boost their ego… just look at the actual statistics of album sales, concert attendees, how long flower road has been in the charts with no promotions or anything.

Armys, you talk a lot of shit about other groups but do not disvaule all of the groups that paved the way for bts. Super Junior, Shinee, BigBang, Wonder Girls, G.O.D, 2PM, B.A.P, etc… were the ones making their path, they were the ones with the machete, bts is just waking on the open path that was already created with the years and years of hard work from everyone else.

I find it disturbing how Kpop groups go though years of training and preparation, spend months at a time without their families, miss out on sleeping to improve themselves, only to be criticized or torn down by either their own fans or others because they don’t fit into their category of perfection.

A Wake Up Call to Kpop Fans

It’s time to wake up and stop being so entitled. We aren’t owed anything.

Being a Kpop fan is a choice--no one forced you into it.

Learning Korean or not is a choice--no one can stop the language barrier but you.

Always complaining about never having money to spend on your bias is a choice--either support them to the best of your abilities for free, or drop the negativity.

Stop believing that your bias owes you something. They’re artists selling a product: their music.

I hate the whole boyfriend attitude towards fans. I love watching the mv’s with boyfriend concepts, but I just can’t help but cringe when they jokingly call fans their boyfriends or girlfriends in real life. I wish idols would treat their fan base as friends instead. I love seeing the more humorous and friendly attitudes rather than empty flirting. I understand that this is how the kpop market works and it sells, but I cant help but grow tired of it as I’ve gotten older.

It’s really sad that baritones have almost no place in kpop other than as a rapper. This isn’t just a kpop issue, but it’s still extremely relevant in kpop. I wish more audiences appreciated deeper voices and not just high notes so baritones could shine in kpop for what they’re good at: low notes. More men are baritones than tenors yet tenors dominate vocal lines. Also, the determining factor in being a rapper shouldn’t be “can’t hit high notes,” it should be “wants to/can rap.”

I can’t take you seriously if you disregard the fact that vocal analyses are a real thing, that they’re objective, and that the people who do vocal analyses are either music students or have a degree in music, especially in vocal pedagogy. Saying that Sohyang is the best singer in Korea technique-wise and that no current idol can even come close to her is fact. Saying that IU is average technique-wise (as much as she is my bias) and that Bom’s voice has deteriorated due to poor techniques from poor vocal training are also facts.

Girl groups have no meaning other than “oppa I really like you”? LOL get out. The reason you think that is because you don’t understand Korean and wouldn’t get any of the hidden wordplay/references in their songs even if it was glaring you in your face. I mean Red Velvet’s One of These Nights is LITERALLY about the Sewol Ferry disaster and Happiness , f(x)’s Shadow is about a stalker and Red Light is also about the Sewol tragedy, The Ark’s The Light is ALSO about Sewol (wow 3 girl group songs about the Sewol tragedy so far!), SNSD’s Paparazzi is about the dark side of being a celebrity, Orange Caramel’s Bubble Bath is said to have hidden references about sexual assault…need I go on? Quit your BS that only boy group songs have deep meaningful lyrics when there are meaningful girl group songs, too.

I genuinely feel sad for idols. they have to bottle up so much stress and sadness and to then get ridiculed by the public when they share their feelings. Taeyeon can be used as an example; when she opened up about her depression on Happy Together she was insulted by fans and antis alike for not appreciating her fame; when she tried to talk to other celebrities they all said “But your in SNSD” and ignored her. fans claim they want their faves to open up but when they do they get insulted more.

Double standards in kpop are so absurd. When a guy is performing with a blank face people go crazy saying he has such a cool image, but when girls do basically the same while performing, they aren’t enjoying it or they don’t want to be there or the concept don’t fit them. This discrepancy is so easily seen when people start judging red velvet for their Bad Boy and Peek-a-Boo comebacks
