One time I came home from uni very upset and my younger siblings asked what's wrong. I said that mutated flies in our lab escaped because someone broke their jar. I didn't even realise how scary it sounded to them until I saw their faces lmao. I was upset because we were short on said flies (they don't reproduce very well) and my siblings thought that some crazy radioactive fly monsters escaped and we are all fucked now. I know I already made a post to this effect but it's so baffling to me when someone defends the fact that headphone jacks are slowly but surely getting phased out by smartphone manufacturers with some variations of "wireless headphones are more convenient anyway" bc like. If we're talking about convenience what I like about wired headphones is that they conveniently have a single plug that makes the same damn pair of headphones universally compatible with every single audio-output-capable device I own, from my phone and my computer to my fucking gameboy and my casette player, it doesn't get any more convenient than that.

your point still stands. it's fucked up that headphone jacks are being phased out of phones. i am angry about this. i think that being forced to use technology in a way that companies perceive as superior is the worst.

however.

i would like to let everyone know they can get some really nice wired headphones/iems with a usb c for $25 that work WAY better than a pair of wired headphones with a usb c dongle and have exceptional sound, better than your average air pod or whatever the kids are using (i don't know, i hate wireless headphones).

if you hate wearing wireless headphones like me you can fucking free yourself for a relatively small amount of money compared to what you get.

these headphones have replaceable parts as well, you can get usb-c iem cables for very cheap on aliexpress if your wire breaks. if the actual headphone part breaks, you can just unplug them from the wire and put on new ones.

they want us to be caught in the cycle of wireless headphone samsara (purchasing new ones when we inevitably lose one or both of them) but we don't have to play that shit. get some iems with a usb-c cable!!! amazing sound quality for a great price with replaceable parts!!! we can keep the convenience!!

i can’t stop thinking about the time my roommate and i asked our insanely ripped neighbor brian who wore flip flops year round and sunglasses on the back of his head for help with carrying a solid wood dresser up to our apartment. he wanted to get his son who was home from college to come help too so he takes out his phone and goes, “siri, call christian christianson” and turns speaker phone on while we stand there sort of stunned by the name and after a few rings cc answers, “what the hell do you want” and brian just hangs up without responding and is all, “kids, am i right” then carries the dresser up four flights of stairs pretty much by himself. we offered him a six pack of rainier as thanks which he immediately opened in our kitchen and downed 2/6 beers in 10 mins while telling us about his 1989 dodge ram 1500 he was trying to get his son to restore with him to no avail. really nice guy. we never saw his son before he went back to school but any time i ask my roommate for help with lifting stuff or reaching something he says, “siri, call christian christianson” and we reminisce about brian and his truck.

Ngl I'm getting kinda sick of looking for disability related pins and stickers and stuff and ONLY finding things like "not all disabilities are visible!" and "invisible disability squad!" and maybe a disability pride flag or two. Like yes visibility can be important for invisibly disabled people, but you're not the only people here. Abled people don't really acknowledge visibly disabled people either btw, they just pretend they don't see us unless they can do something ableist
