Her husband was in the military and he always said it was bad luck to get a loved oneās name tattooed on them, so in his memory, she got part of his āif I donāt come homeā letter tattooed on her. It says, āJust remember, no matter what, that I love you more than any other person who has ever been loved. Never doubt that.ā
Iām fucking crying
Love this
Stop it. I canāt even.
Wow. Tears and tears and more tears.
me at restaurants: is there wi-fi
me at the mountains: is there wi-fi
me at the beach: is there wi-fi
me at family parties: is there wi-fi
me at school:is there wi-fi
me in hell: is there wi-fi
This is actually pretty accurate.
I mean, weirdly, mindfuckingly accurate.
(Except we arenāt Jerry Garcia hippies. There are some in our group, and we were all together doing a barn raising workparty in Vermont when he died, so we observed a mourning period out of respect, but really, we just werenāt into the Grateful Dead. We were āsomeone get the guitarā sort of people.)
Wow. My parents are more hippy than I thought. Ahh well, so am I.
OMFG my life
i feel like this right now. i dont want to get married anymore, and i hope i never fall in love. i watch everyone i know fall apart, and i would rather sit over here with my kid & some cats and not have to go through the emotional turmoil i watch my friends go through. i dont even want to chance it.Ā
Whistleblowing Wednesday: Children As Young As Six Harvest 25 Percent of U.S. Crops
Knowing the farmer who grows your food has become an important tenet of the modern food movement, but precious little attention is paid to the people who actually pick the crops or āprocessā the chickens or fillet the fish. U Roberto Romanoās poignant film,Ā The Harvest/La CosechaĀ (2011), being screened across the country forĀ Farmworker Awareness WeekĀ (March 24-29), informs us that nearly 500,000 children as young as six harvest up to 25 percent of all crops in the United States.
Whatās illegal in most countries is permitted here. Child migrant labor has been documented in the 48 contiguous states. Seasonal work originates in the southernmost states in late winter where it is warm and migrates north as the weather changes. Every few weeks as families move, children leave school and friends behind. If youāve had onions (Texas), cucumbers (Ohio or Michigan), peppers (Tennessee), grapes (California), mushrooms (Pennsylvania), beets (Minnesota), or cherries (Washington), youāve probably eaten food harvested by children.
This isnāt a slavery issue, or an immigration issue per se. Whatās remarkable is that most of the migrant child farmworkers are American citizens trying to help their families. This is a poverty issue and it gets to the heart of what we, as consumers, see as the āright priceā to pay for food.
Children earn about $1,000 per year for working an average of 30 hours a week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. When you consider that the average annual pay for a migrant family of four is $12,500-$14,500, itās apparent why some families feel they have no choice but to bring their children into the fields with them. Half of these kids will not graduate from high school because theyāre always moving around, perpetuating the cycle of poverty that caused them to be day laborers in the first place.

Canadian and New York mommies!!!
Curious, which of the moms I follow live in Upstate New York or near the Canadian/New York border. My husband and I live outside of Watertown, NY. Any cool stuff to do up here? Trevor should be getting a passport soon so weāll be heading to Canada as wellā¦any advice about cool things to see or do?
Cities we should check out or stay away from? Weāre really close to Kingston, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
Iāve heard great things about Montreal. I havenāt been, but all Iāve heard are good things.
You could also go to Alexandria Bay! Boldt Castle is gorgeous if you havenāt already been and itās an awesome place to just hang out for the day. Thereās a Renaissance fair close by during the summer, too, and itās actually pretty decent!
Weāve also taken a small road trip to Niagara, which Iād totally recommend going to see, and stay on the Canadian side if you can or spend the majority of your time there. Way better than the American side.
Also, just in the local area, there are a lot of trails to walk/hike along that are just GORGEOUS during the summer.
i used to live in Gouverneur/Harrisville (about 40 minutes from Watertown) area and there are a lot of really pretty lakes to go to in the summer time up around there. i loved going there as a kid! i have got to say NNY is really pretty in the summer & fall. there are a lot of great trails & stuff as danielle said. & in the late summer & fall almost every county has a county fair on a different week which is always fun. I don't know when apple season is (i'm thinking fall) but we used to go apple picking in Mexico, NY which i believe is a little south of Watertown on 81. There is also Enchanted Forest, which is a small amusement park/water park in Old Forge, that is really cute. It very kid themed & most of it is fairy tale themed. Also, there is a place call Old McDonalds Farm, somewhere nearby. You might have to google it!Ā

How this seems to work
9/11: All Muslims are evil!
Oklahoma Bombing: Not all Christians are like that.
Bombing in Oslo: Not all Christians are like that.
Sikh temple shooting: Not all Christians are like that.
Pretty much every other shitty thing a christian had done: Not all Christians are like that.
The internet is so convenient
