RATING: MATURE โ
Description: Cannibalstatic AU Comic, based on my Pre Purchase Agreement fanfic: Ao3, Tumblr
Vox has spent seven years searching for the missing Radio Demon when, at last, he hears a voice he recognizes. Following the signal leads him somewhere impossible: the mortal world of the 1930s.
But thereโs no Radio Demon waiting for him there. Only a human. A familiar man clutching a glowing, otherworldly tablet, trying to contact Hell with a voice, a name, Vox knows all too well.
And Vox realizes this is a once in eternity opportunity.
Before Alastor becomes the feared Radio Demon. Before he slips beyond Voxโs reach. Before fate can take him away again...Vox offers him a deal. Thereโs just one problem. Alastor is dragged back to Hell with him. And Hell is far from ideal when youโre still alive.
But for Vox? Itโs perfect. Because now the human carrying the soul of the demon Vox has always been hopelessly obsessed with belongs to him.
Relationships: Alastor/Vox
Minor or Background Relationships: Valentino/Vox, Alastor/Valentino/Vox (mostly jokes, not given much focus)
Tags: obsessive behavior, emotional manipulation, Vox not caring about personal space, non-consensual touching (non sexual), non-consensual kissing, fluff/angst, time travel shit, general spicy content, non-sex repulsed Alastor, hypnotism, mild blood, mild depictions of violence, one sided relationship dynamics, sexual comments/flirting (view keep reading for further descriptions/comments โ)
This comic is based on a completed fanfiction. I wanted to take a break from writing and focus more on drawing for a while, so I decided to adapt parts of it into comic form.
Like Hazbin hotel this work is for mature audiences. Material is NOT explicit but does have spicy content, like general depictions of sexual content, sexual comments and suggestive scenes. I donโt like drawing gore/blood so that will be mostly censored (in the original fanfic it's mostly just described after the event/cut away from). I'll add CW's on the appropriate pages.
I'm only posting on Tumblr right now, might change that eventually.
Iโm unfortunately not planning to illustrate the entire fanfiction, and this comic will take a few creative liberties here and there. Most likely, this will be a condensed version of the original story.
I'm also not planning on fully coloring these pages, maybe just a few special ones. I spent to much time on the cover. Sorry if I set expectations too high ๐ฅฒ
The end of chapter one is all drafted out ๐ฅณ roughly two more posts. (Then onto chapter 2) In the original fic I think it's written fine, but I didn't set up this deal as clearly as i could have in hindsight. Fixing that just a bit here.
Okay, so this is just for fun because I think these two having a million and one ship names is hilarious, so I decided to put them all in one post to 1) have a collective list to refer back to 2) have an actual number of ship names dedicated to these two psychos. Without further ado, here's all the ship names and their dynamics!
Voxal - Everything under the sun, EARLY days shipping, standard ship name
Radiostatic - Official flag ship name, also everything under the sun for them, but also leans more on mutual obsession; whatever their weird rivalry is.
Staticradio - It's just radiostatic but flipped around; still general vibe of whatever the fuck they've got going on.
Radiosilence - One sided pining from Vox, Alastor does not reciprocate.
Onewaybroadcast - Technically just radiosilence, there was once a pull on twitter where fans apparently did vote for this to be the ship name? But oddly, it didn't catch on. Then the Radio Silence book community got really upset we were flooding their tag, so there was a resurgence of trying to push out this ship name as an attempt to detach from their tag... it didn't really work (sorry guys, but that's why we don't put a space in radiosilence!)
Staticsilence - Alastor is the one with the unrequited feelings/obsession and Vox doesn't care for Alastor.
Staticlovetune - Mutual romantic dynamic, fluff, reciprocated feelings, both of them are in love; wholesome couple vibes.
Murdermedia - Human Alastor and Human Vox specifically. Basically radiostatic but human AU!
Lostmedia - Past radiostatic specifically, before their falling out! So vintage Box Vox! (We'll probably want to put Hazbin in front of it for tagging purposes)
Sparks Duo: This another name for Past radiostatic, in commemoration for the legendary "Sparks" print drop by the amazing @silentzound!
Lostsignal - This one is a little unclear to me if it's the OG-OG designs (little brown munchkin Vox and Zoophobia Alastor) or if it's Pilot versions of radiostatic? I've seen this tag be used for either or.
Cannibalstatic - Human Alastor and Demon Vox AU!
Radiocult - Human Vox aka Vincent Whittman and Demon Alastor AU!
Honorable mention, because I still think its funny:
Radiohead - SPECIFICALLY TV Head Vox x Alastor (though there is a pretty popular musician named Radio Head, so we gotta put Hazbin Radiohead if we want to tag it)
And that's all I've managed to see! Let me know if I've missed any of their ship names, or if new ones have popped up! Love these chuckle fucks so much; having almost 15 official ship names is WILD! ๐คฃ
something something, AU where vox somehow ends up in his human body again with patchy memories of his afterlife, and Alastor see's an opportunity to make him fall back in love.
Idk the idea was vague but the scene was clear, ya know?
A Cannibalstatic AU that's been haunting my brain, here's the run down, the drama, the scenes in my head.
TLDR:
Emily saves Alastor from being erased by the angelic superweapon.
Unfortunately, she saves him a little too well.
Now the Radio Demon is human, powerless, and hiding in Hell while everyone, including the Hotel, thinks he's dead.
The Vees don't win the war outright, but they win enough. Still, Vox is having the worst time of his life. (Despite him even getting to keep his body)
He's finally killed Alastor.
So why is he grieving?
And why does a certain human hiding in the lower districts sound exactly like his supposedly dead rival?
Full AU below โ
Part 1:
At the end of Season 2, Vox takes aim at the one person he's obsessed over more than anyone else.
Alastor.
The blast hits its mark.
Or at least, that's what everyone believes.
Because at the last second, Emily throws herself between them.
For a moment, all anyone sees is blinding light.
Emily falls.
Alastor disappears.
Everyone assumes the same thing, the Radio Demon is dead.
Vox won.
Except he didn't.
What nobody realizes is that Emily's sacrifice did exactly what she intended and far more than she expected.
Instead of being erased, Alastor is saved.
Saved so completely that his demonic form is stripped away entirely.
The angelic magic wrapped around him, protecting him from destruction, forces him beyond death, and back into something he hasn't been in nearly a century.
Human.
Alive.
And still in Hell.
While the rest of Hell mourns or celebrates the death of the Radio Demon, Alastor wakes up powerless, vulnerable, and completely alone.
Meanwhile, everything falls apart.
Without Alastor, the Hotel loses ground. The Vees don't win the war outright, but they win enough. The Hotel crew is scattered, forced underground, reduced to a secret resistance struggling to survive.
Then Heaven becomes the next target.
The conflict explodes into a full-scale war between realms.
And Vox?
Vox is having the worst time of his existence.
Because he got exactly what he wanted.
Alastor is dead.
Alastor is gone.
Alastor isn't coming back.
So why does it feel so awful?
The rivalry that defined him is over. There's no smug grin to wipe away. No broadcasts to interrupt. No monster lurking around the dark corner waiting to ruin his day.
Just silence where radio static should be.
And the horrifying certainty that it's his fault.
The grief hits him like a truck and he handles it with all the grace of a collapsing star.
Anger. Denial. Obsession. Bargaining. More anger.
Anything except moving on.
While Vox spirals, Alastor spends months in hiding.
He can't use his powers.
He can't defend himself.
Emily's magic still shields him from harm, preventing him from reclaiming his demonic form. Every attempt to regain his powers fails. Every plan ends in frustration.
He's stuck.
Human.
Weak.
Then rumors begin spreading through Hell.
A human is hiding somewhere in the lower districts.
One who speaks in a familiar way.
One who smiles every time someone catches a glimpse.
One whose voice sounds eerily familiar.
Eventually those rumors reach Vox. He monitors the area, catching a recording...
And for the first time in months, the television demon stops dead.
Because the voice crackling through the speakers sounds impossible.
Sounds exactly like Alastor.
Part 2:
The recordings should have been impossible.
Vox listened to them anyway.
Again.
Again.
Again.
The static ridden audio was terrible. Half the words were lost. The quality was garbage.
But the laugh?
The drawl?
Vox knew that voice.
He'd know it after a thousand years.
"Al," he whispered.
Then, louder:
"Alastor."
By the end of the day, every camera, drone, employee, and desperate sinner on his payroll is searching Hell for the rumored human.
Not because it made sense.
Because it didn't.
But because the alternative that Alastor wasn't dead and was somehow alive, was enough.
It becomes a hunt.
Then it became an obsession. (Again)
Entire districts are locked down. Broadcasts are interrupted. Rewards were offered. Rumors exploded across Hell.
Find the human.
Meanwhile, Alastor is having an absolutely terrible time.
Being human in Hell was bad enough.
Being a human who is being hunted by every sinner and Voxtek employee in Hell is worse.
Alastor finally gets discovered by Charlie and the others.
The reunion lasted all of twenty minutes.
Charlie cries.
Vaggie thinks its a trick.
Niffty climbed him like a tree. /affectionately
And Alastor barely manages to explain that yes, he is alive, no, he isn't a demon anymore, and yes, Emily had somehow broken reality saving him...
Before Hell breaks loose.
Vox's forces have found them.
The attack is immediate.
The Vees arrive.
And suddenly everyone is running.
Charlie tries to organize an evacuation.
But the attack wasn't aimed at the Hotel.
It wasn't aimed at the resistance.
It was aimed at one person.
Alastor.
For the first time in decades, he can't simply tear through his enemies.
Can't teleport.
Can't summon shadows.
Can't do anything.
The net closed fast.
By the time Charlie realizes what is happening and Vaggie reaches them, Alastor is gone.
Again.
Part 3:
The first thing Alastor saw when he wakes up was a television screen.
The second thing he saw was Vox.
The television demon was sitting in a chair across from him.
Watching.
Just watching.
For a very uncomfortable amount of time.
Nothing.
No greeting.
No threats.
No smug remarks.
Just that unblinking stare.
Like if he looked away for even a second, Alastor might disappear.
Alastor shifted slightly.
Vox continued staring.
Still nothing.
Then Vox suddenly stood.
And starts walking toward him.
Until he was standing directly in front of him.
Still silent.
Still staring.
Before Alastor could comment, a hand reaches out.
Alastor instinctively leansback.
Claws wrapped around his jaw before he could pull away entirely.
Vox ignored it.
The grip wasn't painful.
Just firm.
Keeping him there.
Keeping him still.
Alastor's eyes narrowed.
The demon's thumb brushed against his jaw.
Like he was checking something.
Like he was trying to convince himself that what he was seeing was real.
Vox's gaze searched his face with unsettling intensity.
Not looking at him.
Studying him.
Every freckle.
Every expression.
Every tiny movement.
Waiting.
For what, Alastor wasn't entirely sure.
Then he realized.
Vox hadn't said a single word since he'd awoken.
Not one.
The idiot was waiting for proof.
As if seeing him wasn't enough.
As if touching him wasn't enough.
As if some part of him was still terrified this would disappear if he blinked.
The realization was almost embarrassing.
For both of them.
Alastor sighed.
"Hello, Vox."
The words barely left his mouth before everything changed.
Vox froze.
The hand on his jaw tightened ever so slightly.
Not enough to hurt.
Enough to confirm.
The desperate hope Vox was clearly trying not to feel cracked open.
Leaving behind something dangerously close to relief.
Then laughter.
Not normal laughter.
The laughter of someone who had been dangling over a cliff for months and had suddenly been thrown back on solid ground.
"You are alive."
"Yes. It would seem the rumors are true."
"You are ALIVE."
"Is there an echo."
Vox made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a giggle.
Then he grabbed Alastor by the shoulders.
Alastor blinked.
Vox stared directly into his eyes.
"I spent MONTHS grieving you."
That made Alastor pause.
"...You what?"
Vox immediately looked offended.
"You think I wanted you dead-dead?!"
"Hm." Alastor tilted his head. "That's rather odd considering you were the one who shot me."
"That was different!"
"How was that different?"
"Because it never worked before!"
Alastor stared.
Vox stared back.
Neither spoke.
Finally Alastor said, "That's the most pathetic thing I've ever heard."
"Oh, I know it is." Vox made a gesture toward the very obvious lack of antlers above Alastor's head." Almost as pathetic as being the only living thing in Hell."
Alastor's eyes narrowed.
And somehow, impossibly, Vox looked happier than he had in years.
Not because he'd won.
Not because he'd captured Alastor.
Not because he'd beaten the Hotel.
But because the impossible had happened.
The rival he'd spent years hating and obsessing.
The man he'd spent months mourning.
The ghost he'd convinced himself he'd never see again.
Was here in the flesh, right in front of him.
More alive than ever.
And Vox had absolutely no intention of letting him out of his sight ever again.
Which was unfortunate for Alastor.
Because Vox was treating this entire situation like a man who had somehow won the grief lottery.
And Alastor was beginning to suspect that being captured might end up being far more exhausting than being dead.
END (for now???)
You have completed my Human and Hating It AU, will I get to writing it?? No idea, but if I do, now I have it out of my head in an outline. If anyone wants it, please steal.
