Skylla Charmay scries on Warduke and Zarak the half-orc assassin (Earl Norem cover art for the AD&D coloring book The Crown of Rulership, 1983).  The only Skylla toy figure had black and red robes and platinum hair with a golden skull crown, but it’s your book and your crayons and no one can tell you what to do.

*Edited because Charmay is clearly identified by name in this book.  Charmay was a lesser-known character because she was designed for the LJN D&D toy line but never produced as an action figure.  She appeared in several comic books as Charmay, but for some reason her illustration was used to represent Skylla the evil magic-user in two D&D modules, AC1: The Shady Dragon Inn and XL1: Quest for the Heartstone, despite Skylla having her own distinct design.  In a deep callback to these apparent editing errors, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight (2021) merged the 2 characters into one.

I honestly think Gen-Z and younger simply does not understand how recent widespread smartphone adoption is.

I am not that old, and I didn't have a smartphone until probably late high school. For most of my life, many if not most people were not walking around with a magic internet machine in their pocket that they pulled out and used constantly for everything.
