does it bother anyone else when people post tiktoks but alter the captions to not match what they are actually saying? i could understand switching out curse words or high activity words that activists know are being censored (ex. watermelon/Palestine, unalived), but recently i’m seeing people SUMMARIZE what they verbally say in the closed captioning and it makes me genuinely angry.

there was an entire wave (“trend”) where everyone dove into learning ASL and were hyper focused on cc accuracy not even a YEAR ago and now it’s dropped off again…
