Leave it to s children’s book to remind me to write old fashioned letters to my Nana and say hello to all the neighbors on my street. My kids LOVE this book- in fact - they love LOVE to read any book that involves an elderly person in the book. Think #tomiedepaola Nana Upstairs Nana Downstairs or Now one foot, Now the Other... but #cynthiarylant books are (maybe my favorite). They remind me of Home, Mama Kowns, the mountains, the country life, the lonely. - - And maybe I love them because I secretly hope, secretly wish - that One day.... when I’m old I will have grandchildren who will love me, visit me, ignore the inconvenience and the the mundane of my life, will see the beauty and dismiss the aged. I listened to this book while riding my bike a zillion miles ( or feels like it), while mopping the floors and folding that forth load of laundry... and I cried buckets and triumphed when darkness was Beaten. I was surprised at how many biblical scripture was quoted and Could not believe it’s taken me 35 years to read this book. I took her to ballet under the stars last night for a #motherdaughter date.. we watched 1 dance, and then announced “I’m ready to go swing now.” - I was secretly laughing at how life works out.... I was mesmerized by all things dance as a child. I rode my bike with training wheels until about 8 and refused to cooperate with my “out-doorsy” family. And here I have a daughter who LOVES to run, bike, swing and be in nature all the time... and is bored by the ballet. 😂 #momlife #girlmom
