YEAH im not even that big of a gabv1el fan but I hate how insistent people are on normative sex like. In general people only think that penetrative sex (and by that extension, PiV) is the only “real” kind of sex and anything else is just a build up and can never be an enjoyable act on its own. People are so obsessed with penetrative sex and characters having completely recognizable perfect genitalia with no distinction from that of a human’s, and furthermore don’t bother to consider erogenous zones; they just go straight for genital stimulation, and also ignore the fact that a large part of arousal and pleasure is the mental aspect of it: there are more ways for Gabriel and V1 to have sex than just having the latter fuck the former in his perfectly-human-conforming vulva with its perfectly-human-conforming-dick.
People are so obsessed with “normal” sex and pigeonholing others into having it (ex: getting mad at transgender people who have bottom dysphoria, religious institutions saying anything other than PiV is sodomy/perverted, the insistence that PiV is the only “real” way for straight people to have sex); it’s sad to see it reflected in a series that has so much potential for being so much freakier like Ultrakill. You mean to tell me you’re going to have the war machine and archangel who had two enby-erotic battles have perfectly normal, human-resembling sex? No wireplay? No wingplay? No exploration of reward systems in robots? No consideration of the fact angels would likely have no experience in intimacy and experience it differently than a human did regardless because of their cosmic/divine forms?
This probably does not make much sense. But I hope you can understand that my main message here is that everyone needs to get freakier with it and be less conforming.
Anon you're a godsent, thank you for sending this 🙏 it always makes my day to see I'm not alone. Do not worry, it makes perfect sense to me :]
You're completely right! It didn't even occur to me that it's related to actual irl pigeonholing as you said. Interesting how we cannot escape these things even in such seemingly unrelated topics....I suppose it must be hard to unlearn, but still. It's just another reason why I'm so fed up with the portrayals in the fandom - I do not fit neatly into a box and I do not like when people do it to me, or characters.
In general I noticed that despite Ultrakill being a game with no humans present, or at least only in the form of a footnote in history, the fandom is very anthropocentric. Realistically, I know it's unavoidable. We cannot help it, we need to relate to things and make them familiar to be able to better understand/empathize with them. But it gets to a point where I look at what is written/drawn and I wonder if people are just so scared to experiment, that uncreative, or just...refusing to consider the possibility that maybe the divine angel and a blood-fuelled machine do not view things the same way as us?
There are nuances to these things and it just makes me a little sad to see them ignored, that's all. I won't pretend I'm a saint of course. If it's for fun, then I also disregard some of the problems present. But I make it clear that it's an au or something, or that it's not how it'd be actually. Maybe it's just my autism, but I feel like if more people made such things clear, it'd be a whole lot better lol.
All in all, we only do what makes us happy. So I'm going to write my Gabv1el smut without genitals and/or with genitals, but painfully explain how they both acquired them haha :]
