Sure, Taeyun was tall but it meant little when it came to fighting someone like Yongjoon. She hadn’t witnessed any of the fights the other had gotten into, at least not yet anyway. From the looks of it, someone was sure to get into a fight with Taeyun. Meanwhile, Yongjoon had better self-control ever since he started dating the jock leader which she supposed wasn’t too bad.

“I don’t think I want to see you guys fight.” She winced at the mental image that popped up in her head. Seeing Taeyun and Yongjoon fight would be a gruesome sight especially due to the fact both knew how to fight. “Yeah, that would be quite the sight. I just hope I don’t get stuck with someone I hate or that would be a bloody mess.” She didn’t to disappoint her younger sister by getting into a fight with someone she wouldn’t see after she graduated. It would be pointless to do so. She shrugged her shoulders at him. “I guess, but everyone would’ve heard about it by now. You know how it is at Keisung, how fast gossip and rumors spread and all that.”

if he and yongjoon did up throwing punched he would hope that it would be a good fight. he almost wanted to punch the rebel leader at this point to see what happened, add some fuel to the fire to piss him off. a fight between the two of them was bound to happen at some point, it was unlikely that they could go the rest of the year without managing to get in each others way and avoiding trouble. maybe it would be better if they just got it out of the way already. he was looking for something interesting to do or someone worth it to punch these days. 

“if you don’t want to see it, then don’t watch,” that was the simple response to that statement, rolling his eyes just a little. it was not like anyone was obligated to hang around if they got into a tussle. if anything, it was probably wiser to get out of the way before you managed to get dragged into the middle of things or caught up. “just don’t get your hopes up for that not happening, this whole school is just a mess. it only makes sense that the dorm arrangements are going to be just the same.” even if they weren’t trying it was probably going to continue to end badly. “but i suppose you have a point, though i wouldn’t be surprised if it happened anyway off campus and no one was around to witness it.”

Shannon wouldn’t call her older brother ‘stupid’, it was just that her brother had motives for being here. Not that it surprised her, Woosung had always been the scheming one out of the four siblings. Now that he was a staff member after graduating last year, he seemed to be up to something. It seemed that Jinho had motives too. The 'I was worried so I followed you to Keisung’ excuse was bullshit and both of them knew it, but she had never bothered asked him. She was sure he had his reasons and she simply left it at that.

She rolled her eyes. “I’ve seen him get into fights before and he always won.” It made her curious now.  Who would win in a fight? Yongjoon or Taeyun? “Yeah, I just hope they don’t fuck it up next year. I’m not going to be too surprised if that ever happened.” The way her roommate was acting whenever he saw his ex-boyfriend was starting to get on her nerves. Her roommate had a boyfriend too, so Shannon felt sorry for her roommate’s boyfriend. “I’m just expecting my roommate to get into a fight with Yongjoon. This is why love is bullshit.”

there was no question that he would beat yongjoon’s ass if they ever personally fought and it was a fair one on one with no one butting in. tae had the height advantage for sure and he was pretty sure he was stronger as well. not to mention he had been in enough fights in his life to know what the hell he was doing. he rarely lost and when he did it was normally because it was a five on one situation and there was no chance that he was coming out of that one the victor. he might be good, but he was not that good. and you would think he would get the idea to stay out of those kind of situations by now, but he still ended up being ganged up on all the same. 

“yeah, well you haven’t seen him fight me,” he just huffed with a shake of his head, “then he’d lose.” and it would be a good fight as well, he knew that the rebel leader did know how to throw down, so at least it wouldn’t just get boring. it was far too boring and not even worth the effort if it was too easy for him. “i’m pretty sure they don’t even know how to not fuck everything up, so knowing the system i’m probably going to landed with head neutral next, or maybe both of them. and throw in the second in commands as well.” that would be hell, quite honestly. “who’s to say they haven’t already fought and you just weren’t there to witness it?”

… and he was an asshole. Jiyeon could already tell he wasn’t exactly excited by the way he unenthusiastically plopped down into the chair, but she hadn’t expected him to be actually rude to her.

But he obviously underestimated her. She had an older brother, she knew how to handle this. And so, after letting out a deep sigh, she snatched Taeyun’s phone from his hand the second he pulled it out.

“First of all, hi, nice to meet you, I’m Seo Jiyeon.“ She set the phone down on her side of the table, a slight pout on her lips. “Second of all, I know you’re not excited about this but let’s at least try, at least for one chapter, yeah?“

Realistically speaking, it probably wouldn’t take long for her to get distracted anyway, so Jiyeon wanted to get in as much work as possible before that inevitably happened. “Right, so your professor told me a few things but not really enough for me to have a plan or anything, so do we can either wing it or you can tell me a few things you want to focus on and we’ll just do those.” She doubted she’d get much of a response, but she opened the textbook anyway. “Your choice.”

one second he was scrolling through instagram, and the next the pipsqueak had taken his phone right out of his hands and put it on her side of the table. “do you fucking mind?” he asked rather angrily, spinning around in his chair to face the kid. and she was just a kid, and just because she had taken his phone he felt like punching her right in the face to teach her a bloody lesson about respect. 

“first of all, i don’t care who the hell you are,” like he gave much of a shit about what her name was. after this he was never going to see her again. “and secondly, we are doing no such thing. you are going to sit there and shut up before if make you shut up.” and yes, that was a threat, he was not against punching a girl and a highschooler. they were no different from everyone else if she deserved it. 

he was not going to be doing any work and she was not going to tutor him. the only reason he was here was because he had to, taeyun simply had no intentions of listening to a damn word she tried to tell him. like she could tutor him anyway, she was just a pipsqueak and it was actually insulting that his professor had tried to get some teenage brat to tutor him instead of some college kid. not that it would have been any better, but at least it wouldn’t be so insulting. 

“now,” he continued, easily using his height to reach across the table and take his phone because before she could do shit about it, “do you get the picture of how this is going to go down yet? or am i going to have to make it clearer so it can get into that pretty little head of yours?”

Even though Shannon wasn’t exactly the most social person, she knew how to hold a proper conversation with most people. Yet upon seeing the other, she couldn’t find herself to say anything. She wasn’t sure what else to say to him without him telling her that he resented her. Hell, the thought stung but she knew she deserved it.

“Both of them are here, actually. My younger sister is the only one who hasn’t fucked up yet.” Upon learning that she was to attend Keisung, Shannon didn’t feel any form of hatred towards her sister. Shannon glanced at him, brow raised. “I mean, my roommate is the ex of the rebel leader’s boyfriend.” Speaking of the rebel leader, she could definitely remember how violent Yongjoon was last year before he had started dating the jock leader. “I’m surprised you haven’t died yet.”

it was somewhat surprising to hear that they were here as well, he almost had to wonder why. it was not like keisung was some star college everyone wanted to go to or anything. it was a dump and the people who chose to come here of their own free will were truly mad. though, in hindsight, tae did decided that he didn’t care enough to question her sibling’s motives for being here. maybe they were just all rally stupid and couldn’t get into anywhere else. 

“why would i die? if anything, yongjoon would be the one dying,” he huffed with a roll of his eyes. he was hardly scared about the rebel leader, tae was quite sure that he could stand up against him and come out on top. though it was surprising that full out war hadn’t erupted in their dorm room. then again, yongjoon didn’t spend a lot of time in the room as he was normally with his boyfriend, which was just fine. it meant he had to put up with his less. “but is do have to say that whoever came up with the dorm arrangements this year has completely lost it. they should probably get their head checked out for brain damage. it’s like they want an all out war in the dorm building.”

tutor

It was one of the proudest moments in Jiyeon’s life - she was told to tutor a college student. When the professor had asked her, she immediately said yes, not bothering to take the time to think about it whatsoever.

Okay, there was a large possibility someone would make fun of her and she’d be called a nerd, but Jiyeon could absolutely deal with that. She just hoped that someone wouldn’t be the guy she was tutoring. The occasional blow to her ego was alright, but Jiyeon wanted to try her hardest at this. Given her fun-loving nature, however, she knew that it would only be a matter of time before the tutoring session ventured off topic, but that fact wouldn’t stop her from doing her best as always.

And so she was sat in the library, closed laptop on the table in front of her as well as a notebook, her pencil case, and a thermos with tea. She tapped a rhythm against the desk with her pen, lips pursed as she waited for Eun Taeyun to show up. Other than his name, the professor hadn’t told her anything about him, so she was very curious to find out what kind of person he was.

She just hoped he wouldn’t be an asshole.

this was a joke, they were expecting him to be tutored by a highschooler. now that was never going to happen, tae simply was not going to let something like that ever happen. it was not like he wanted to be tutored, anyway, but he had been given an ultimatum; either agree to be tutored by a student or he would be failed instantly. so, he basically had no choice in the matter as he didn’t want to fail as he needed to actually graduate at the end of the year to get out of his place. but that certainly didn’t mean he was pleased about it happening. 

and just because he agreed to be tutored didn’t mean he was actually going to take it seriously. all he was planning on doing was showing up and just sitting there on his phone for awhile. besides, he didn’t think some high school aged brat was good enough to tutor him in anything, anyway. 

taeyun more or less just dragged himself to the library when he was supposed to, eyes drifting around the room for his so called tutor. didn’t take him very long to find her, just scoffing a little as he wandered over to the table and pulled out a chair with his foot, quickly falling into it. “just so we’re clear, i’m only here because i have to be. don’t think for a second that i’m going to listen to anything you have to say,” and that was the end of that. the senior simply slouched back in his seat and started rummaging in his pocket for his phone.

Silence gnawed at her insides. There was really nothing to say since she hadn’t expected to run into him. Perhaps one day they would be able to hold a proper conversation, but that’s only if he forgave her. The silence was like a gaping void, needing to be filled with sounds, words anything. Usually, the silence would be comforting for someone like her. But instead, the silence was underscoring how vapid the conversation had gotten.

She shrugged at him in response. “I was, but my brother ditched me yet again. So I’m not sure what I should do now.” Shannon supposed that she could go back to her dorm room, but she doesn’t want to be in the same room with her roommate (who she preferred to avoid). She sighed. “I would go back to my dorm room, but my roommate is a bit…unpleasant, I should say." 

well, this was just incredibly awkward for the both of them and tae was highly considering just making some excuse to leave by now. it was not as though he had anything else to say to her, he’d already told her much he resented her for leaving like that.there was simply nothing else that he felt he could say about the situation. sure, he could probably go on about how much he hated her leaving and how broken up he had been about it because that was just one more friend who had abandoned him, but he’d rather not go into that right now. 

“your brother is here as well?” so he could probably expect to bump into him as well, not that he had ever been close with her brother. “your roommate is unpleasant?” he just have to stifle a laugh at that, shaking his head from side to side. “at least you aren’t in the same room as the head of your rival clique,” he could safely say at this point that whoever had come up with the dorm arrangements was completely off their rocker. head rebel and head inferior in one room. what could possibly go wrong?

joon basically told him that this isn’t a standard college. the rebels are on top, while guys like scott are the ones at the bottom. due to his social status, scott naturally fell in with the inferiors. truthfully, the inferior doesn’t mind the role reversal. after all, he’s not here to make friends. the clique system is stupid, but it seems to keep some of the students in line. in other words, people know their place at this school.     

scott raises his eyebrow at the other male’s question. he looks somewhat familiar, but scott doesn’t care enough to dig through his memory for a name. however, he must be someone who catches on quickly. scott comes off as sarcastic, maybe even a little condescending, “good job on figuring out that much.” since the stranger is here anyway, scott might as well entertain him. taking another puff, he remarks, “if you’re here to avoid all the fucked up people at this school, i don’t blame you.” taking out his pack of cigarettes, scott offers one to the other male.  

scott doesn’t even know where to begin with this mess of a school. the few lectures he did attend pales in comparison to what he’s learned at yale. on top of that, it seems like students could care less about their academics. if they’re not rich, they should at least try to make something of themselves through their education. to top it all off, he’s pretty sure he has seen high school students running around the halls, which is already enough to give him a headache. this place can’t even be a standalone school for college students.

this place was actually a hell on earth sometimes, though he had survived here since freshman year, so he guessed he was just more accustomed to the madness which happened on a daily basis. though he could see how all of this could be a little strange and overwhelming for someone new. thought taeyun wasn’t about to be some saving grace to explain all of this, it was simply better to experience it by yourself. besides, this guy looked as though he was managing just fine on his own. 

“well, i make a point of trying to remember the new people in my clique,” he just responded, leaning himself back against the wall with a shoulder, folding his arms across his chest, “nice to know who the fuck i’m supposed to be looking out for or whatever.” and he did look out for his kids, but he didn’t like to smother them like some leaders. if they got into a fight then it was their own fucking problem, wasn’t his job to clean up every single mess. “i don’t really think there is one place to hide, we’re all fucked up here,” he just added with a small shift of his shoulders, putting up a hand to refuse one of the cigarettes. 

he did move again, resting his back fully against the wall, staring a little up at the sky as a small sigh spilled from his lips. “so, what brings you to think dump, anyway?” he did have to wonder after a moment, “bet you’re currently wishing you were somewhere else or back where you were before.” no one was worse than this place.

“i’m sure,” she said then, hiding the amusement at the memory that yongjoon literally said the same thing to her when she found him taking a nap in her office again. it’s a wonder no one mistook taeyun and yongjoon as twins; they were even more alike than the shameless park twins that sora liked to hang out with. “i can’t believe—it’s either they’re less likely to bother you or they might want you to teach them how to shut people up.” she’s seen it happen with yongjoon after all. he suddenly had a flock of children following him around like he was some sort of idol being stalked. besides, did this kid not know of hidden spots in the academy where he could have the peace and quiet he was craving for? “hmm, that is a point.” but she wasn’t going to continue the thought she had about taeyun and yongjoon. hell, wasn’t yongjoon’s bestfriend an inferior anyway? and that kid that his own boyfriend considered to be his own son was an inferior as well. “i wouldn’t be surprised if you get in a fist fight with him either.”

tae really just wanted this meeting to be other with now. it was not like he was being told off, this was more of a casual conversation and he was starting to get a little bored of it. he had things to be doing and he was in the middle of something before he had been interrupted by that kid and was then sent here. “i’m pretty sure that i can scare anyone off who starts annoying me,” it was not like he was going to stand for people following him around. a couple of punches and he was sure people would get the idea to leave him the hell alone. and he hardly cared if that got him into more trouble, taeyun had never been scared of punching people and getting himself into trouble because of it. “as soon as i was made leader of the inferiors and he took charge of the rebels, we started really hating each other, that’s just how it works. it’s like it’s in the contract for leading,” you kept up the hatred between the two cliques. not that tae found this hard, yongjoon was pretty easy to hate. “i don’t think anyone would be surprised by that.”

after enduring a stressful day, scott ends up wandering into a reclusive area for a smoke break. taking out a cigarette, he lights it and takes a puff. as he breathes out, smoke leaves his lips. he automatically feels more relieved and some of the tension leaves his body. this will keep him going for now, but he’s taking a drink as soon as he gets back to his room. maybe he will ask joon to join him. it’s been awhile since they have had a drink together.  

more or less, scott is shocked by the condition of keisung’s campus. he’s surprised anyone can even call this a college. if he were to tell his friends from yale that he’s now attending a joke of a school in korea, they would have a heart attack. he got an iced coffee from the school cafe earlier and it tasted so watered down that he had to throw it out. he really didn’t want to stay in that cafe any longer, so he didn’t even bother asking for a new one. however, he was relieved to see that joon is alive and doing well. and really, that’s all the comfort he needs. 

even though he doesn’t plan on staying here permanently, he has to attend classes. at least they offer standard college courses here, thank god. he suddenly hears footsteps. he can’t believe someone his interrupting his smoking session already. his eyes narrow as the person makes themselves known. “you know it’s fucking rude to intrude on people.” he takes another puff from his cigarette. he’s not in the mood to deal with anyone to offer a friendly greeting.      

things were starting to kick off again and keisung was getting back into the usual routine of everyone trying to kill each other, but this time with the added ‘fun’ of high schoolers. taeyun still thought that was a bad idea, this place was a mess as it was without a bunch of children running around and causing more problems. but there was very little he could do about that, he was learning to deal with the added annoyance best he could, though sometimes he did have to escape and find somewhere a little quieter to hunker down just to avoid people. 

there was a spot behind the school building he sometimes liked to go, no one really seemed to know it was there, which was strange, but he was thankful for that. he used it to hide from people who might want to start shit or just to avoid anyone he was starting to find too annoying. sure he normally just punched the people who started to get under the skin, but that did normally cause a member of staff to come down hard on his ass, so he still needed some place to hide to avoid any teachers who might want to drag him to a yelling session in their office. 

but when he did arrive at his usual spot, there was someone already there having a smoke. “no need to be an ass,” he just told the guy pretty plainly, lifting a brow as he stared at him for a little longer. “you’re new here, aren’t you?” he did recognise him, vaguely, so he was pretty sure he was an inferior and had seen his face, otherwise he probably wouldn’t know who the hell this guy was. but he did know that he had never seen him before the year started, meaning he must be new.

If there was something Jian didn’t want to do again was to deal with Taeyun and so when the other said that he shouldn’t bother to look for him again, he could agree with the younger.  Then again, there was a part of him that was petty enough to do exactly the opposite just to spite the younger but of course, he was smart enough to know that there was no way he was going to do a favor like this again.  The only reason he accepted to do favors for other staff members was because that meant he would have something to hang over their head if he was ever in need of something and well, it was also kind of his job to help professors whenever they had to deal with troubled students.  “I really pity whoever has to deal with you in the future, especially your teachers but be careful, life has a way of making you pay for what you did to other people.”

He doubted the inferior leader would follow the advice he was giving him but that mattered little to him since he was not the one that was going to deal with the consequences.  As he listened to the other, he couldn’t help but realize that Taeyun was either naive or he really didn’t care about his future.  If his family was not willing to help him, then how was he supposed to impress the interviewers if he wrote trashy articles and had no flashy experience.  “Truthfully, I don’t care if you want to be here. You are here and while some students can manage to get a job even though they graduated from here, you need an edge to be noticed or they will hire the ones with the degrees from good universities. Find an internship and make contacts or you are going to find yourself without a job and homeless if what you said about your parents is true.”

was that advice supposed to be a threat or actually worry him? maybe make him feel guilty for how he might have treated people in the past? well, it didn’t really work and tae just shook his head a little, snorting under his breath. “i haven’t done anything to anyone,” not recently, anyway. he might be a jerk and punched people all of the time, but he really was not worried about it. because from his point of view, once he got out of this place at the end of the year he was not going to be seeing anyone again. especially not any of the staff who jian might be pitying for having to put up with him. they would be stuck here teaching and he would be somewhere else far away from here and simply not thinking about it. “well, thank you for the completely useless advice, but i don’t care,” as if that was a surprise. like he cared about other people’s feelings or how he treated someone. 

as far as he was aware, this meeting was over and jian was just hanging around to annoy him. and if that was the plan, props to him because it was working. he did consider the next words out of his mouth for a moment, but they just amused him more than anything. “i’m perfectly fine not having a job,” jobs were boring and the money was not that important to him. he had every plan of continuing what he was already doing and that was writing shit about people who deserved it. “but what you don’t know is my parents. they might nor care very much about me, but they do care incredibly about their damn reputation. i have my ways to get them to help me out, even if it’s just so i don’t go to the cops and tell them my family’s every dirty little secret.” he was going to be just fine and was really not worried.

“it’s atrocious, is what i think,” ahyoung complained. staring down with disgust at the remains she’d thrown in the bin. “which i know is what everybody thinks, but you know what i also think? maybe everyone here is so batshit crazy because of how bad the food is.” personally, she knew how she could get when she was hangry, both angry and hungry, at the same time. she was sure the other students at keisung who’d seen her in her more irate state knew perfectly well of her public tantrums whenever that happened, too.

upon hearing the inferior leader’s question, ahyoung frowned slightly. she wasn’t sure if she had quite enough on her to treat him for lunch, but she supposed her debit cards still had their uses. at least, she hoped so. her last purchase had eaten into quite a hefty amount of the balance left in her deposit account. “aren’t leaders usually the ones taking care of their underlings, and not the other way round?” she questioned, but dug in her purse to see if she had money anyway. counting the notes, she supposed they could settle for something really, really cheap off-campus.

“i think i have enough,” ahyoung closed her purse with a snap, looking at taeyun. “but let’s just say… we overspend, then you can cover for the rest, right?” she beamed, trying her best to grovel for the favour, “pleaseee. we’ve never had lunch together like this, just the two of us, anyway.” ahyoung took a moment to think. “next time’s totally on me. deal?” she held out a pinky, swearing on her promise with what she hoped was a convincing smile.

he wasn’t really listening to what she was talking about, just more interested in scrolling through his phone. besides, she was probably still complaining about the state of the food, which was pretty pointless because complaining about it was not going to make an difference. maybe she would eventually get the idea to stop going on about it, but, for now, he was just blocking out most of what she was blathering on about, eyes just focused downwards as he slouched back in his seat. if she knew she was going to complain about the food so much he wouldn’t have bothered ‘eating’ with her in the first place. 

“you’re the one who wants to go and get something,” he pointed out, still not looking up from his phone as he crossed his legs under the table, “i’m not even hungry.” it was why he didn’t have anything in front of him and wasn’t more eager to leave and go and find something more edible to put in his mouth. if he was desperate for food he had a bunch stuffed back in his dorm room to save him the bother of having to leave campus. it was cheaper just to buy a bunch of stuff from the convenience store than to go out for meals, anyway. 

eventually, the senior did look up from his phone as he slipped it back into his jacket pocket, lips twisting into a slight frown. “i still don’t know where this we is coming from,” he told her rather simply, raising and brow and slipping his arms across his chest, “thought i just said i wasn’t hungry.” he didn’t really plan on buying anything, so if she wanted food for herself, she was just going to have to buy it herself. “and i don’t really do lunch dates like this, anyway.”

She sighed, rubbing her temples a bit before she started fidgeting with her hands. Shannon was reminded of the memories from when they were younger, but she pushed them away from her mind. She didn’t want to be reminded of the past, not at this moment anyway. Not when someone of her past stood in front of her. She merely nods in acknowledgment, there’s nothing more to say about this (at least from what she thinks anyway).

“I suppose.” She agreed, her hands wringing each other mercilessly. She wasn’t the type to be nervous, at least that’s what she had told herself. But seeing the other again years later, it made her feel awkward. “I see…” She forces a small smile. “That’s good..?”

tae really didn’t know what he should say. not that he was thinking about what was next to come out of his mouth because he cared if he might hurt her with his words. no, he just didn’t really know what he could say which might make any of this better. not that he expecting for one conversation to just fix all the issues they might have, because there were a lot of those, but he didn’t really want this to continue being awkward. maybe it would just get better by itself and they were only being a bit awkward because it was surprising that they had even seen each other again. not because of what had happened. yeah, that must be it. 

“good? i suppose you could say that,” he wouldn’t really say that constantly getting into trouble was good. it was starting to piss off all the members of staff who had to constantly break up his fights, but tae didn’t see himself stopping. he’d only stop when everyone else decided to stop being so annoying. “so... were you heading anywhere in particular before we bumped into each other?”

“there’s nothing wrong with looking out for people, whether that’s considered mothering or not,” hoetaek rolls their eyes. this is the difference between them, obviously, that taeyun is willing to accept the violence that goes on around here, while hoetaek just wants to keep themself, and those around them, out of it. they know how this school works, they’re not an idiot, fights happen all the time and they’re not about to try and start a revolution to try and get everyone to get a long. they just want those like them, who just want to get on with their goddamn lives, not to be dragged into something they don’t need to be. all it takes is one kid getting picked on cause they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, and hoetaek doesn’t want their kids to be seen as easy targets.

hoetaek snorts at the irony of taeyun telling them, a stoner, to chill out. if they weren’t here they’d be chill. if they weren’t here having to deal with taeyun’s infuriating ass they’d probably be off somewhere with a nice fat blunt being as chill as can be and… honestly why the fuck are they even bothering? they’re getting nowhere, going around in circles, since taeyun clearly doesn’t even want to try looking outside of his narrow fucking world view to even consider hoetaek’s point of view. just because something’s not a big deal to one person doesn’t mean it isn’t to someone else, but that thought’s clearly never crossed taeyun’s mind, and hoetaek’s dealt with enough assholes in their lifetime to know that’s not going to change with a single conversation.

“fuck this, honestly,” hoetaek runs a hand through their hair, fed up. they don’t want to give up, it feels like losing, and they’re still worried about something like this happening again. but they value their sanity enough to know that they can’t keep going around in circles with this asshole much longer. “this is fucking pointless. let me know if you decide to be a decent fucking person and take responsibility for your clique… actually who am I kidding, that’s never going to fucking happen, never fucking mind.” their scowl’s back, unintentionally, but they’re turning to walk away now anyway, their stressed-out brain automatically moving their hands to dig around in their pockets for a cigarette.

“there is looking out for someone and then there is being annoying about it by bothering other people who had nothing to do with it. i’ll let you guess which category you are currently falling into,” though they were just being annoying by thinking it was a good idea to come to tae to bother him about it. the fight had already happened and he very much doubted that talking to the kid would change anything or make him stop getting into fights with people. if the confrontation was still in process when this conversation was happening then that might be another story. he might have been bothered to go and break it up, but it was simply a little late for that now. and he just wasn’t in the mood to try and talk to someone who was not going to listen to him. this whole conversation was just a huge waste of time and hoetaek shouldn’t have even bothered. maybe they wouldn’t next time. 

this just simply wasn’t his problem, he had nothing to do with the fight and it didn’t mean it was his problem just because he was the leader of the clique. maybe hoetaek should go and actually talk to the inferior in question, though he doubted that would go down any better than this currently conversation. it was simply better to ignore the problem, brush it off, and just get on with your life instead of making such a damn big deal out of it. maybe this would actually serve as a lesson on the subject and he wouldn’t be bothered if something like this happened again because they would know that he simply didn’t care.

“so good that you are finally getting the idea,” he responded with a smile on his face, nodding his head. there was simply no point to this conversation and nothing they could say was going to change his mind. it was one fight and getting to the bottom of it was just going to be a pain and game of ‘he said, she said’ which he was really not in the mood for. “and you let me know when you decide to be a decent leading figure and decide that every little fight is not the end of the world and stop wasting everyone’s time.” because this could have all been avoided as they had been as nonchalant about it as tae was when it came to fights. maybe it was just a stoner thing and they had to take every little thing personally.
