The story behind this piece is pretty simple. I’ve been working with the concept of cleansing the self in my practice this semester because of past trauma. Having to deal with all of the consequences of pressing charges and making a police report and trying to get my bills paid for by the state has only been a consistent reminder. The underwear used in this piece was what I was wearing the night of the assault but could not be used for evidence because I had thrown it in the laundry without thinking.

So this is my own way of providing evidence for my case; evidence that I am working on healing myself and moving past this time in my life.
