I feel like not enough people realize that people under enormous strain act really really fucking Weird
things humans are known to do when stressed:
-hallucinate
-cry over what seems to be small things
-become furiously angry over what seems to be small things
-hit a self destruct button over and over again
-lose all sense of reality
-becoming straight up unable to communicate
-view every situation as life or death
-experience delusions/become vulnerable to irrational worldviews
-perceive hostility where none exists
-become extremely nauseous and/or throw up
-stop engaging in sleeping/eating/basic hygiene
-stop processing sensory input
-process way too much sensory input all at once
-lash out at others/themselves
-and more!
being able to recognize when a human (ie. you or another person) is so stressed out they cannot think clearly is VERY important for conflict resolution and diffusing emotional crisis. highly recommend trying to train yourself at being able to recognize that state of panic- there is a point in which logic and rationality is useless and you have to address the underlying emotional issue first. knowing that saves everyone a lot of pain and struggle.
do you procrastinate/avoid doing your hobbies, even though you enjoy them when you're actively doing them?
To use reading as an example: a book from a series that you've been reading and enjoying sits untouched on your desk for two weeks, even though you have absolutely had time and energy to read it, and you DO want to read it, and then when you do finally read it, you love it. And then even though you love it, you do the same exact thing with the next volume.

Stellt Kinder her!

Noodle! Nagashi somen—a classic summer activity. The cold somen noodles get let loose in flowing water (usually through a bamboo flume), and you get to snatch them up for dipping in a cold sauce, with extra condiments like wasabi, perilla leaf, green onion, and ginger.
Besides being tasty, it makes the hot weather feel more bearable, and I also like the competitive skill aspect I wish there were more foods I could fish/hunt for, without having to get into all the hassle of actual fishing or hunting.
I think some of y'all would really benefit from learning the scope of power of various political offices.
Are you trying to tell me my local schoolboard doesn't have the ability to declare a unilateral ceasefire with iran?
If they try hard enough and are pure of heart... still no.
Paradoxically I think people often dismiss local elections as useless, which is also absolutely not true. Your local schoolboard might be aggressively banning books, or they might be fighting a trans sport ban. Paying attention to who gets elected to that board is important. It's just also important to know what you're electing someone to do, and what they can do.
while that's true, I'm pretty sure the original point is that people overestimate what presidents (and other officer) can actually do or affect
It's both! People get mad at local positions for not tackling federal issues and get mad at national positions for not doing things governed by local offices.
Sometimes it's easier to just harass your park board into doing something rather than to harass your senator into creating a cascading set of legislation that would allow them to do it. And also don't be mad that your park board didn't vote for a ceasefire with Iran.
