This is why we can’t have nice things:
“… Is that the same mouth you use to greet your mother with?”
hey now, this wasn’t very hopeful at all !!!
“I don’t have a mother, you insensitive bastard.”

█░ ( THE QUEEN’S WATCHDOG ) A CHESS BOARD SITS NEAR them and ciel, relaxed for once, decides that this is the first time he’s been mildly productive since he’s been away from home and his butler. above all, it FRUSTRATES him to no end, teases his nerves, cools his breaths, but he’s managed to survive with pointed details like this: playing chess with the likes of haruto.
and the sheer novelty of the acquaintance drags his eyes over haruto, captures his presence in glimpses, small notations, before, with a softened flourish, he declares his findings.
" you’re not the CHEERFUL type, are you? looks like there’s a chance for me to finally find someone of my likes. “
Wary eyes resting on the figure before him, Haruto observed the boy’s every movement, every change in expression, but no matter how hard he looked, nothing was revealed. He couldn’t say he had played much chess in his 18 years alive, being more tied to the laboratory than anything, but it didn’t take a lot to tell that Ciel knew what he was doing. A poker face almost professional, calculated movements that left him with little openings -- it was a peculiar sensation, to feel cornered in such a way, but not an unwelcome one.
In fact the very idea of him simply sitting down and have a game of chess in peace seemed ludicrous when taking a glance at his purpose and the world he originated from, but with the change in scenery what use did the word even have for him and his kind? He would rarely have seen an opportunity like this previously, so in a sense he probably knew to appreciatte it for what it was -- a challenge to the mind he could not easily get in daily life.
“Cheerful or not, it doesn’t matter either way. I simply do not see the appeal in walking around grinning like an idiot over the smallest thing. You don’t really appear to be a ball of sunshine yourself, do you?”

@kuroppelion.
The scar itched.
It still itched, since he last thought about it. He wondered how long it would itch. What was it caused by anyway? Occasionally it would light up, saying something about “D2″, and a small pain would follow, but nothing too bad. He couldn’t figure out what that meant though.
He wasn’t the only one in this city with a scar like that one, though. He was seemingly the only one who had itched it raw because he had poor impulse control. Iwatooshi really needed someone here to help.
As he wandered the park, holding his wrist in his other hand to see if he could stop the itching, or at least prevent himself from itching it, he saw another scar—or, well, another person with the scar.
And, as anyone with poor impulse control would do, he ran over to him, cloak billowing behind him. It was only a short distance, but he sprinted.
“Do you…” he gasped, holding out his wrist. “Do you know why this is like this? Why is it so damn itchy?! Huh?”
Annoyance a determining factor within the young man, a permanent frown seemed to be present upon his face. Honestly he was not too fuzzy about the idea of having been experimented on -- he was a result of human experimentation in the first place, and he of all people should understand the need to satisfy a scientific curiosity. In fact he would be more than thrilled to join the main research team to spice things up a bit.
Perhaps that was also the exact reason he was feeling in quite the mood -- he had no clue on even where to start finding the people behind as the so called Gomorins that littered town seemed to be more interested in confusing matters with their silence and odd behaviour than they did making things easier on him.
Not to mention, when the sound of footsteps suddenly appeared, rapidly approaching him at that, Haruto’s gaze turned only time enough to notice the massive figure practically jumping him. Or so it felt at least to suddenly have the stranger’s face right into his own and being yelled at for no reason whatsoever.
“...” For a moment Haruto was considering the options weighing the results of his intended actions. Should he choose to ignore this man and move onto his own business, the other would probably follow after him, bothering him even more. He seemed like the type of person who would do just that. Instead, a sigh escaping him, the doll decided on granting his conversational partner with an actual reasonable answer, lifting an index finger for emphasis on his words.
“I can only make assumptions on the matter, and it’s dangerous to act on assumptions alone, but from what I understand we have been implemented with some object that causes the connection. Under that scar you have a foreign object in you, so it is only natural that your body is trying to get rid of it. That is most likely where the itching is from -- not everyone handle things like this the same way.”
“I like it when my weapons maim and tear, but if we were to follow your logic, then things such as pepper spray or tasers wouldn’t count! I’m not really into explodey things personally, but I really like it when they try to fight back only to realize it’s hopeless♥.” He smirked at the command. “Ne, ne, nobody works for free! I’m probably the fastest guy in the city and could sweep this place in ten minutes flat, but if you want me to run errands for you, I need something out of it.”
“Heh, you got me there. I can’t deny that such equipment would also qualify as weapons, and I guess I’ll acknowledge the idea of your modified water gun as well.” Honestly Haruto couldn’t say that he was enjoying the other’s seemingly sadistic mindset, but it was relieving for once to be able to discuss the things he took pleasure in without getting the usual ‘you’re crazy...’ looks.
“Assuming they have put you in the same boat as me, I daresay you might find my assistance an asset after all. Admittedly bombs are my forte but I do consider myself quite good with my hands. What do you want? A mixture that can erode a person from the inside out? Neurotoxin? When it comes to chemicals you’ll find no one better.”

“Hey now, a little creativity can go a long way! You see, while not all weapons are created equal, all can be used to at least incapacitate the enemy, and for a fragile contraption such as this, I believe it would be compatible with gifts from Mother Nature herself! A spritz of lemon juice straight to the eyes to give you time to move in and stabstabstab your opponent would work wonders, ne?”
“I guess you do have a point in that. But in that case you would still need the asset of another weapon to make any proper harm, so can you really refer to it with such a term? Beside, if I’d had to go to such lengths then I’d much rather just make a grenade myself in the first place. That’s actually a pretty good idea...! Hey you. I need a good work space and as many aerosol cans as you can find.”

Shion: How many plans are there? Is there a Plan M?
Haruto: Yes, but I die in Plan M.
Kanon: I like Plan M.
Haruto: I have an idea.
Ibara: We’re not blowing anything up.
Haruto: I don’t have any ideas.

“I should have died back there. Why did you let me live?”
Words shot in annoyance at the older male, Haruto was now wrapping bandages around the other’s bleeding shoulder. One thing was being unfortunate enough to run in on a stranger being mugged – this sod had to have incredibly poor luck. But he could have listened to Haruto’s words. he could have turned a blind eye. “Don’t worry about it” he had said. “This idiot can’t hurt me anyway” he had told him. But now Haruto had to deal with someone who had a bullet meant for him deeply implanted in the shoulder instead.
“You humans are so irrational! You get overtaken by sudden rushes of heroics and then get yourself involved in situations you could easily have avoided. Just how much of an idiot are you? I told you: I can’t die.”Tightening the last knot Haruto gave the stranger a pat on the injured shoulder, mildly out of spite for the other’s actions. What had happened to the mugger? That much was better left unsaid. At any rate, Haruto was now two hand grenades short.

“Do you need to have a reason for everything?”
Seriously, first the sudden intrusion (that had technically been on his part), and now she demanded to know how he was still alive? He had tried with some scientific explanation on cell restoration but she didn’t seem satisfied at all. How would he put this in layman’s term? He should be used to explaining things as simple as possible after having to team up with the Ozu sisters, but it was still a pain in the ass.
“Think of it as superior heling magic. Honestly I’m not entirely sure how it works myself, but I suspect my cells need to be destroyed on a molecular level to stop them from regenerating again. It’s like in a game when you die but get another chance at life.” How could he stand here and explain his trump card to his own assailant? Because he was just as interested in the actual workings behind his own immortality as well as its limits. He was a scientist by nature after all.

“Is that a bomb in my pocket or am I just happy to see you?”
“Looks like it was just a bomb after all.”

“What the actual fuck do you think you are doing?” Her usually calm facial expression had been replaced with one that clearly looked annoyed. Ailis raised an eyebrow as she watched the other that had clearly just broken into her apartment and thought he could get away with some of her things that had been laying around the living room.
She was going to take her things back, of course. But he wouldn’t be leaving this apartment tonight, or ever for that matter. “I’m going to show you what happens when you mess with the wrong kind of people…” And so her irises turned red and the sclera black.
“Oh. You’re back already? I didn’t expect you to be this quick.” Nonchalant words left the young man, who obviously saw nothing wrong with his actions. In the academy everything had been at his disposal, and in Tokyo, taking shelter in random houses and apartments were pretty much a matter of life and death. Not that he needed to worry much about that anyway.
“You see, I ran out of test tubes, and the glasses in my own apartment couldn’t handle this new product. But your glasses are just perfect.” As he spoke, he twirled the liquid contents with a glass spatula as he had already started converting this forgeign room to his lab. He had kind of lost track of time. Thinking the woman little more than an ordinary human, Haruto paid her no heed, and his attention was already back on his experiment.

The nightlife of Koi was limited, but it definitely existed. Haruto himself enjoyed a good stroll through the chilly night time city, marvelling in the views of a society before pollution. Before the incident had struck. But alas, the more time he spent in this land of fantasy, the closer the clock ticked towards the inevitable. The year had turned 2016 and few months from now the greatest disaster in Japan’s history would hit Tokyo, making the city uninhabitable even 20 years later in his time.
It was a weird thought -- two years from now he would be created. And yet, here he was, a young man in his best age who had lost his purpose for existing. Although he had contemplated warning humanity, he had figured that the words of one teenage boy would make no difference, no matter how smart a mind he might possess. It was the nature of the foolish to judge by appearance. Beside, should he actually managed to prevent the catastrophe, there would be no need for the Coppelions. His entire race of semi-humans would never have come into existence, and neither would the one person in the world he actually cared for. A world where Ibara Naruse would never exist was not one he desired.
So instead the bomb fanatic was left doing what he did best -- spend all day in his room performing weird experiments and making explosions. A peculiar sense of chemicals was always hanging around the house because of him. But tonight he was out on the streets, not because he wished to adore the scenery, but on the chase. Someone had been in his room while he was gone, and just catching the figure jump out of the window, Haruto had done what he determined the best course of action -- grab the nearest weapon and hunt the son-of-a-bitch down.
