Anamika and Vera were shy about their preferences in the bedroom and in their day-to-day life. But the longer they were together, the more they slowly unravelled the layers of their wants and desires. Although they were still discovering new things, they took it a step further this time. Anamika leaned across the small table in their living room, eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Vera, I've been thinking... what if we step way outside of our usual comfort zone tonight? Let's pretend we're complete strangers who just met in a bar. No history, no expectations. Just raw attraction and whatever happens next."
Vera grinned, already feeling the thrill. "Strangers, huh?"
Anamika leaned toward Vera across their kitchen table, her eyes glinting with that familiar spark.
"Let's take this out for real tonight. Actual bar, strangers meeting for the first time."
Vera's grin widened. "I'm in."
They arrived separately at the dimly lit downtown bar, the low thrum of music and chatter filling the space. Anamika wore the short black dress that clung to her hips and chest, while Vera chose a low-cut top and tight jeans. She slid onto a stool two seats away from Vera, ordered a drink, then shifted closer after a few minutes.
"Mind if I sit here? The place is packed," Anamika said, flashing a confident smile.
Vera turned, playing it cool. "Not at all. First time here?"
"Yeah. I'm Anamika. You?"
"Vera. Nice to meet you."
They clinked glasses and the conversation turned flirty fast. Comments on how good the other looked, knees brushing, Anamika's hand resting on Vera's thigh. The tension built quickly. Vera leaned in.
"I don't usually do this with strangers, but..."
"My place is close," Vera whispered, staying in character.
They left together, barely making it inside Vera's apartment before clothes hit the floor. Anamika pushed Vera onto the bed, spreading her legs and devouring her slowly to stretch out the moment. Vera moaned, gripping Anamika's hair as her tongue worked its way in. They switched positions, Anamika, on all fours as Vera thrust fingers deep inside her from behind, curling against her sensitive spot. Anamika trembled with pleasure, her body responding intensely. The night dissolved into sweat, moans, and repeated pleasure as they explored each other's bodies thoroughly.
Later, tangled together, Vera pulled Anamika close. "That was incredible."
Anamika kissed her. "Blissful. We should do this more often."
for the record im not technially 100% anti-AI, in the sense that its a broad category of tech being lumped under one umbrella term so it feels over-zealous to say i hate all of it all the time forever. but i also think trying to discuss what it actually IS good for is difficult right now when i cant take one step without something trying to convince me to use chatgpt to summarize my life and speed up my hobbies and turn my friends into chatbots and optimize my life into oblivion. i am certain there is nuance to the topic but can we stop cramming the square peg into the round hole before you start trying to sell me on the legitimate benefits of the square peg. please.
Neural Nets have existed for decades and are genuinely useful. It's a form of AI that recognizes patterns, and can do stuff like identify cancer cells, tell whether an egg is fertilized or not, detect fraud, and optimize routes.
Those are Expert Systems, tuned to do exactly one thing. If you (say) ask a medical expert system a question about financial law, it's useless. The autopilot that flies a 787 has no idea how to drive a truck on the freeway. A Coulter Counter is excellent at identifying lymphocytes in a blood sample but can't predict the next card in a blackjack game.
And so on.
The problem with so-called generalized AI (AGI) is that we don't have that yet. It doesn't exist. It MIGHT some day, but AGI has been "10 years away" since the 1980s. The goals keep moving as we learn more about how people and machines process data.
But the current crop of AI techbros have been selling generative Large Language Model AI (LLM) as AGI because generative systems do a good job of faking it. There's no actual thought going on, merely the illusion of thought via predicting the next word in a sentence accurately.
If you let a human toddler listen to 800 hours of YouTube car influencer videos, that toddler might end up sounding like a car influencer. They'd parrot horsepower numbers and 0 to 60 times, mention EV range and MSRP numbers.
But they wouldn't understand any of it.
That's ChatGPT.
And yeah, it's worse than useless because it doesn't even know when it's lying or hallucinating. It just babbles convincingly until you stop it.
But for techbros to make money selling that as "AI"? It's the perfect scam, especially if you don't understand how it works.
Seeing people I know and like using AI is making me understand the protagonists of those old time sci fi dystopia's.
"Oh I don't normally use AI, I just wanted it to plan my trip"
You lived on this planet for decades, you know what you like, there are hundreds of websites where you can type into any search engine " things to do in [area]" and have at least a hundred different options.
"Oh I only use it so I can figure out what to make during the week with what I have"
The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.
"I had a writing idea, so I typed a few sentences into Chat GPT and I was able to write 20 pages with it."
I'm remembering a Tumblr post from years ago about Adderall restrictions, and there was a very young person who said that her father abused Adderall for over a decade and destroyed his family, therefore Adderall should have some restrictions, because people who don't need it would abuse it.
Except that you could say that about many many many things.
Restricting patients' access to medication based on the potential for abuse and misuse has never worked, nobody likes it, it causes more and new problems, and addicts need to be treated safely and with compassion.
i hate when rich people condescend with the whole 'money can't buy happiness' argument like listen. just because buying your fourth car didn't fill the void in your deluded disconnected-from-reality life doesn't mean not having to worry about food/ bills/medicine wouldn't greatly improve the mental health of literally everyone else on the planet
Fun fact: they've done studies and money DOES buy happiness, but it tops out after a certain amount (nowadays around $500,000)
So yeah, having food / bills / medicine & a fair amount of leisure covered by income DOES buy happiness, but excess wealth depletes the effect exponentially.
i love to upset myself so easily by thinking of kamilah "i loved him and he loved me" "i fell in love with him there" "he didn't i chose to do them" talking about gaius like im so sorry but thats heartbreaking. she needs it so bad to be a love story and its complicated and its just very real. points at kamilah vampirism as metaphor for sexual abuse and grooming
me every single day: even the people you love most will disappoint you and anger you and upset you because it is the nature of all humans to be flawed and your love is not the thing that will make them flawless it’s okay
me the second my best friend and i disappoint or hurt each other: I Want To Fall On A Sword And Die So I Do Not Have To Carry On In Agony
