talking to someone on discord and like-

it doesn’t seem out of the question anymore to me for ricky and lily to end the season together…

they would still break up probably episode 3 like in my previous projections, and since chances are due to how they’re seeming to want to drag portwell’s arc out based on tim saying it’s not set that they’re a couple yet based on just the kiss, whether you like them or not i’m getting a feeling that ship lasts all season if not most of it. i personally think that ricky and gina isn’t necessarily realistic for season 3 even if they are done entirely with ricky and nini. unless they get ej a really excellent new love interest- i think it’s going to be him and gina. i’m rather impartial as to ricky and gina or ej and gina, but this seems like where things are headed. if they do put rina together, it would have to be in the last episode… because it really looks like structurally the portwell arc is a long one. i don’t see it as out of the question, just probably less likely…

if they are unsure of a renewal, i think this could go one of two ways. 1) they decide they need to get ricky with a solid love interest so everyone or pretty much everyone is happily coupled up in the end. or 2) they decide ricky needs to end the season/the show single.

i think they’re gonna go with option b. i mean season 1 finale said okay time for getting everyone either coupled up or on their way to it. season 2 finale had ricky calling lily, and while we know that’s dumb as tim said in an interview, he doesn’t know that yet. we also got the first kiss for redlyn in s1 finale mirrored by the portwell first kiss in s2 finale, and redlyn got a solid moment in the s2 finale as well. the only character that doesn’t have even a potential coupling solidified in the s2 finale is nini, but what she has going for her is bigger than a love interest. ricky just isn’t the kind of character i see them giving a “big opportunity” to. i’d be less shocked if they gave nini a third one than if they gave ricky one. imo if anyone’s going to be single in the finale it’s either going to be nini or the both of them with implications of them having a possible future but no confirmation.

if they want ricky with someone in s3 finale, unless they bring in a new guy character for him (which i don’t see as out of the question tbh and could be good), i’m starting to realize it’s either going to be nini or it’s going to be lily. and as much as i love ricky with nini, i don’t see that happening so much anymore, nor do i like them so much in canon as in fic these days. lily’s not actually the worst idea for ricky in the individual character sense, but that’s another post for another day.

ricky and lily, if broken up in episode 3 like i think they’re going to be, could reasonably find their way back to each other after some time working on themselves, by the end of season 3. people seem to forget that this is disney and these are teenagers, they’re not grown adults set in their ways. she’s a teenage girl not a monster. she makes bad choices but if you look at both gina and ej and how different they are in season 2 from season 1, can you genuinely tell me she doesn’t have a chance of going through the same sort of thing? disney loves a good redemption arc, so so many disney characters have had them. i know a lot of hsmtmts fans liked andi mack and tyrus. tj is another example of this redemption thing if we look outside of hsmtmts. and yet people say lily can’t be redeemed. she was the mean girl of season 2, and i hope she doesn’t lose all of her edge, but i think she will by the end of s3 have softened considerably.

i think lily will get a chance to grow as a person and ricky will also get a chance to figure out who he is by himself before they can put them back together or hint that there’s a possibility of it.

these aren’t fully formed thoughts by any means, but it is food for thought all the same. ngl before today i wasn’t of the mind these two would be anything besides perhaps friends at the end of the season, but my opinion has largely shifted.

i live in california and six the musical is doing an open call in la on tuesday… except that i have ONE singular class still meeting in person on tuesday … and i can’t miss it

i saw this fun screenshot on twitter today and while frankly i think we should always be in doubt of ANYONE “leaking” anything… it’s still a very interesting thing to discuss because there are so many different outlooks on the situation

i’d absolutely LOVE to see people’s takes on this potential character’s role in season 3 whether they be opinions or theories on what this could mean! stick them in the replies, reblogs or heck even my ask box.

“some people don’t deserve redemption” redemption isn’t something that’s deserved, it’s something someone does. it’s making the choice to change the way you live your life, to be better, to do good things instead of bad things and try to make up for the bad things. and everyone can and should do that, at any time, no matter what they’ve done. we can’t change the past, but we can choose what kind of person to be now and in the future. we have the responsibility to do so. it is so completely not about “deserving.”

i saw a post earlier about hsmtmts characters paralleling glee which is fun bc- the vibes are absolutely there.

that said- i had this thought a while ago because to be fair the parallels on hsmtmts aren’t totally one to one with glee characters like they definitely have mixed traits in a lot of ways… but i think other people will think this concept is as amusing as i do so- please enjoy.

in some ways ej caswell is rachel berry to ricky bowen’s quinn fabray.

i know what you’re thinking but hear me out for a second…

ej’s the classically trained theatre guy (though he does also do water polo, rachel is canonically involved in basically every possible extracurricular which actually gives ej rolling up av club and instantly becoming president vibes). he’s THE leading man, the complete talent, and he wants someone who can shine next to him, that’s where nini comes into play. she’s his potential leading lady. (just the way rachel tapped finn to be her leading man once mr. schue brought him into glee.) ej encourages nini in her talents the same way rachel does for finn. while ej doesn’t actually get the leading role and rachel almost always does, he fumes the same way rachel does when for example quinn gets the solo after the whole pep rally ordeal. ej also is the guy who always did get the leads in the past, so i still say it works. additionally, he’s willing to play a bit dirty, just the way rachel is, in the name of ambition.

ricky’s the one who only is doing this show because of his love interest, nini in this case, wanting to do it. no, ricky’s not super popular like quinn, and he’s not exactly a jock to quinn’s cheerleader, but what he IS, is someone with a greater commitment to his actual passion, who decides to take on a new activity he’s not particularly interested in, for the sake of winning his love interest back. (while quinn hasn’t lost finn in the same sense ricky lost nini, she canonically joins glee club because she’s afraid he’s slipping away). he also, much like quinn, finds a love for this new performing arts activity, and a new family of people who truly support him despite the issues he has going on at home.

so, overall i want to reiterate that this isn’t a perfect one to one parallel with the hsmtmts characters and the glee ones, nor do i believe any of them are besides miss jenn being mr. schuester, but it is quite amusing if you think about it enough. i hope you find this as halfway funny as i do, because it’s something i’ve thought about on multiple occasions. the funniest part is that i’m pretty sure i’m not wrong.

my irl’s thoughts on frozen cast ideas:

she very much supports kourtney!elsa and gina!anna

howie for kristoff has so many rights. he’s charming and goofy and would be able to sell ice. also howie bursts out into song for kourtney when he feels he’s losing her, tell me he wouldn’t sing to a reindeer friend

if seb is gonna be a lead it should be hans bc if we’re looking to showcase his vocals, hans is the better way to do that than kristoff

by the same token, she thinks ej would be a better hans than a kristoff bc a) aesthetically it’s perfect, and b) hans is actually objectively a better part like he sings more. like yeah ej just played gaston and it’s a bit typecast, but lbr that’s how it goes

she’d want ricky as hans rather than kristoff if he’s gonna be a bigger part, this being for more singing reasons as well, but she’d support ricky as kristoff if that was done bc he’s a dork and it would fit

she’d also be supportive of big red and ashlyn as kristoff and anna in the sense she thinks it’d be cute, and also kristoff isn’t a huge singing role which works well for big red who’s still anxious about performing

the smallness of the main cast in frozen almost makes me think since this is summer camp… perhaps it’s gonna be a double casted show

and that could create some very interesting chances for some foiling and other parallels

like- this way you can get the absolute SERVE of kourtney as elsa, but also the almost necessary for plot reasons choice of lily as elsa.

from the way these things go lily’s almost decidedly gonna open up and have her little redemption arc by the end of the season and her playing elsa would allow for that quite well.

but i also NEED to see kourtney as elsa and miss jenn basically said she had big things in mind for kourtney at the end of season 1 so i need to have that come to fruition for our girl

tbh you’re 100% valid and i support you. i just- i KNOW there’s maybe a ten percent chance she doesn’t get redeemed. that’s how these things tend to go, i mean look at gina and ej…

if lily stays a “villain” the whole of season 3 i will personally be shocked. my prediction is she gets called on the harness thing in around episode 3 ish? (or for something else bc this show loves to drop plots), she faces some minimal consequences for it (bc that’s how this show has been in that regard thus far), and by the end of the very last episode she and either ashlyn or gina have some sort of mutual respect. (gina would make sense bc they have parallels, but also ashlyn could be a good choice a well bc of last season’s battle of the belles)
