haii no komahina art today but here's a hiyoko redesign from a while ago:3

the kimono changes are based on maikos which from my understanding are like an apprentice geisha!!!! references for kimonos & my thoughts on her design under the cut

differences between geisha and maiko :) I wanted to use a geisha for reference for hiyoko but geishas are typically adults so I thought it would be more fitting for Hiyoko to be a maiko because she's younger

I also like to think that Hiyoko's outfit/apperance is more casual on the island vs splash art similar to how it is now, so she would probably have a more typical white face and traditional makeup in her splash art--- I didn't care to draw it very well in the art I did LOL. I like her original design minus the oddness about her being portrayed as a loli character but I also don't think that she should be "aged up" necessarily

based on what my best friend told me (I haven't seen the anime) she gets an odd age up midway through and that's highkey one if my icks???? I hate it when media does something similar to that to justify relationships in the show (idk why they age her up in danganronpa I just mean in general) so I would probably rather her to look in between the ages that she's shown in the show (so like not as young as she is in the game but not as mature as in the anime) since I just feel that's right. ALSO I HATE ALL OF THE WEIRD SEXUALIZATION IN CHAPTER 2 WE ARENT TALKING ABOUT IT WE ARENT WE ARENT when I finish some of my other sdr2 redesigns maybe I'll talk more about it but we're just pretending it's not there for now
