I hate the clingy incestous little sister Archetype so much in anime because nothings ever done with it outside of it being a male gaze fetish. Like wow ok the 50th little sister competing and hating with the other female cast while the older brother is uncomfortable and plays dumb and just HAPPENS to accidently be in situations where he sexualizes her. Im sure it'll do something the next 50 times I see it.
But one of my favorite characters of all time is Nanami Kiryuu. The concept of a girl who idolizes her brother and does the whole clingy incestous little sister song and dance, not nessicarily because shes incestously attracted to him but because she feels like if it wasnt for her connection to him no one would love her the way that they love him.
And them being blood related siblings is the only reason that not only everyone loves her, but her own brother loves her too. Like she genuinely feels she is so worthless and unlovable on her own merit that she needs to cling to touga for people to care about her. Like you would think in a situation where its revealed two characters like this are adoptive siblings nanami would be overjoyed so she can be with toga. But she isnt. Shes angry and distraught and in denial that that is her blood relative.
And then she is presented the opportunity to have sex with (and i say this loosely RGU clearly plays what happens as implied assault) touga she backs away in disguist because. Shes not attracted to him. She just wants someone who is guaranteed to love her no matter what. And your family is supposed to. Because thats your blood. They are the only people who are guaranteed to love no matter what. They should anyway. And she sees those lines blurred in real time by touga and thats not what she wants. She just wants him to care about her.
It breaks my heart to think about it.

Well if weāre doing CRA standard analysis then
PPLA: Nanami Kiryuu and/or Juri Arisugawa
For those newer to this blog and my ways, #perpetual perpetual ladies night aka PPLN is my initiative to make more posts about women and maintag them due to my frustration with fandom tags being male-dominated in most cases, and my reluctance to maintag my own posts. I have been slacking on this duty due to the horrors.
I like that Juri's presence in the student council tells us that being a lesbian does not automatically mean you escape patriarchy. That would be the lazy option in a story where Utena and Anthy discover their gay love and immediately waltz out of Ohtori hand in hand. The system is more resilient than that, and we're also not going to pretend that lesbian relationships are inherently positive--Juri and Shiroi's dynamic is toxic, to say the least, and contributes to what keeps Juri stuck in the dueling cycle.
I feel like I need to rewatch Juri's outburst towards Utena with full context, but it's interesting to me that Juri sees the trap Utena is in, but her reaction is to lash out at Utena for being foolish enough to walk into it. All women are rose brides absorbing the anger directed at the patriarchy...
another day another Tena
The answer to "How did these Ancient People do this????" is basically always
1. A lot of dudes. Just a ton of fucking people from beginning to end of the process.
2. Ancient people weren't stupid, they just figured shit out the same way we do: fuck around until you find out.
3. We're gonna plan this out and it's gonna take ten fucking years, and you will cope.
4. Sticks and string are surprisingly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, like moving stuff and making sure things are even and go in the spot you wanted to put them in!
5. I want to make this easier and more efficient to move. If I put this on the round thing and push, it will move. If I put this in water, it will move. If I get some animals and rope and have a whole bunch of them drag it, it will move. All of these things are a better option than one guy trying to pick the whole fucking thing up.
"I'm not calling the people who believe in this conspiracy theory racist" I am. They're racist. Maybe not out of malice, but the fact that they believe in this is in itself racist. These conspiracies are always about brown people. Machu Pichu, the Pyramids, Gƶbekli Tepe, Easter Island, it is ALWAYS POC. It's never the Parthenon, it's never the Colliseum, despite the fact that these were built around the same time as some of the other sites these conspiracy chucklefucks like to throw around, it's never something fucking European. It's always "primitive people" with "stone tools" and "no understanding of modern engineering" so "clearly someone must have taught them this or given them the technology because CLEARLY they were just too Primitive and Savage to figure it out themselves." Fuck off with that shit.

in order to unlearn racism u have to be willing to accept that u are racist. itās not a bad thing to want to change for the better. itās not a bad thing to say hey, the way iāve been acting is racist and i donāt want to be racist anymore. when people of color are telling u ways in which u have been racist, itās actually not cool to brush it off and say, well i didnāt mean it that way.. u actually have to make an effort to stop doing those things if u want to be able to actually say ur anti-racist. u canāt just say ur not racist because u donāt wanna be seen as racist. thatās not how unlearning racism works.
āum iām actually a good person so calling me racist couldnāt possibly be true. ur just attacking me!ā see how the racism is literally right there? see how ur just seconds away from calling me an angry black girl?
One more Lucina for the road. Itās her birthday afterall
