Would never have dreamed there would be any overlap between Godzilla and figure skating, but here we are.

Incredible stuff happening. I want push notifications for every update. I hate push notifications.
okay i need to break this apart in context with the other translations because this is an incredibly deft and incisive translation. i've adjusted a few of the the line breaks of the earlier translations a bit to line up with this one.
Queen! Belt out a banger of a turnmaxing moid
Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns
Tell me about a complicated man. Muse, [...]
who highkey through savage sidequests toughed it
driven time and again off course, [...]
tell me how he wandered and was lost
after chopping Troy-town to dogfood deadass
once he had plundered the hallowed heights of Troy.
when he had wrecked the holy town of Troy,
Sailed through sick storms and dealt with dramas
Many cities of men he saw and learned their minds many pains he suffered, heartsick on the open sea,
and where he went, and who he met, the pain he suffered in the storms at sea, and how
Locked in to lead his fam to a homey safe space
fighting to save his life and bring his comrades home.
he worked to save his life and bring his men back home.
Talk of the trips and trenches, the sus opps he faced how the GOAT cooked and vibed with the randos though he lowkey took the L on that mission when his bros
But he could not save them from disaster, hard as he strove – the recklessness of their own ways destroyed them all,
He failed to keep them safe; poor fools,
Like NPCS blundered badly to beef with the big G
the blind fools, they devoured the cattle of the Sun
they ate the Sun God’s cattle, and the god
and got ghosted, permablocked, cooked completely.
and the Sungod blotted out the day of their return. . . .
kept them from home. . . .

Submitter comment: I'd like to submit this '[s]tudy of defensive behavior of a venomous snake as a new approach to understand snakebite' not for it's topic (worth studying!) but for it's insane methodology, which... well, I'll just let the researcher speak for himself:
[Q: Why did you decide to do this experiment?
A: Snake behavior has been generally neglected as a field of research, especially in Brazil. And most studies don’t examine what factors make them want to bite. If you study malaria, you can research the parasite that causes the disease—but if you don’t study the mosquito that carries it, you will never solve the problem. Up until now, the popular wisdom was that the jararaca would only attack if you touched it or stepped on it. But that was not what we found.
Q: Why did you need to be the victim?
A: The best way to do this research is to put snakes and a human together. In this case, the human was me. We put the snakes inside a ring on the floor of our lab until they got used to it, then I stepped in wearing special protective boots. I stepped close to the snake and also lightly on top of it. I didn’t put my whole weight on my foot, so I did not hurt the snakes. I tested 116 animals and stepped 30 times on every animal, totaling 40,480 steps.]
From the recent (aptly named) interview: Researcher steps on deadly vipers 40,000 times to better predict snakebites
washing dishes is evil because you go "oh fuck there's so many dishes this is gonna take foreverrr" and then you enter the dish abyss and emerge with your abdomen somehow covered in water and your hands all wrinky and then you look at the clock and what felt like half an hour was actually 10 minutes

I didn't share with tumblr about their LONG ASS SLOW BURN because it was also driving me insane on twitter. So basically its:
controversial opinion but unfortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are mean to people, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have secret kind thoughts. fortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are kind in your actions and your words, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have mean thoughts. the power is in working against inner negative thoughts and being a better person despite it. you have the ability to cultivate the person you want to be.

I don't know how to articulate this well, but I really fucking hate the way a lot of thin writers write fat characters. Like how men write women "breasting boobily" there is something so dehumanizing about how fat characters are often written. "He waddled", "he lumbered", the writer of the book I'm reading always mentions this characters "fleshy hand" when he does something with his hand. Like, we already know that he's fat. There is no need to describe everything he does as "doing it fatly".

It's worth noting that "the woman was a city" is Sam Vimes' perspective. And like it or not, he's a man of cities. He can navigate all of Ankh-Morpork by the feel of the cobblestones under his boots. "The woman was a city" is another way of saying, "This woman is everything I desire." We are looking through Sam's eyes as he looks at Sybil and falls more in love with her every second, not because of her size or in spite of it but because LOOK AT HER, SHE'S PERFECT.
Fucking Pterry. Man knew what he was doing.
