☀️Our last summer🍃
Zuko calls her name again. Katara smiles.
She wants to tell him he doesn't need to worry—she'll never hide her scars from him. The very idea is ridiculous. He's always let her see all of him. Why wouldn't she return the favor?
Zuko is smart. Zuko is protective. Zuko knows the pain of a burn. He'll help her heal. She knows this as surely as she knows her own name.
The burns settle in The Block's first chapter: Love is Wild (read here!). Healing comes in many ways.
Love her
✨️WIP✨️I watched Avartar for the first time in my life about a month ago and I can't stop thinking about it and Zutara since then! 💔
Sketching them being in love and adorable 💞🔥🌊
Elderly Zutara sketch with steamgrandbaby 💕
oh, boy.
all i said to you was "please no Al 🤢” on a post where you used Gemini to justify Zutara. all anyone has said to you is to please stop using AI.
first of all, you should have tagged your posts as containing Al-generated content if you didn't want anti-Al people engaging with your posts.
second, AS A ZK MYSELF, it is abhorrent to use something like Al—which consumes our precious resources and is supported by placing data centers in minority communities so those communities suffer constant noise pollution, air pollution, and water pollution instead of the rich white people—to feel validated in your ship.
third, everything you have said here and in your other post can be found and justified and validated by engaging with the real people in your community. you don't need a chatbot scraping your friends' fanfics and posts for information to tell you what your friends fanfics and posts are saying!
fourth and finally, widespread Al usage is contributing to a decline in media literacy, and by encouraging and displaying this in our fandom, you are spreading that harm.
Al is, quite literally, designed to keep you hooked to its use by telling you what it "thinks" (recognizes as a pattern of) you want to hear. if you say, "i'm having a hard day," it will refer to scraped internet forums where people respond, "i'm so sorry <3 we're here for you" and respond likewise. if you then reply, "don't comfort me, i just want to be mad," it will say, “understandable. sitting with your feelings can be a good thing too" because it scraped that out of a psychologist's published article on sitting with anger as a means of beginning to cope. if you then say, “why would you say that? comfort me!” it will say, “you’re absolutely right”—not because it understands you or believes you to be right or wants to help you, but because its programming requires it to move so as to most effectively keep you engaged with it.
you have proven this yourself by stating that everything the AI is telling you is made up of “Facts [sic] not opinions.” no matter how much i agree with certain “facts” it has presented during your discourse, they are not “facts” in the traditional sense, as they are not confirmed beyond any and all doubt. you want to believe they are facts, and the AI is an authority to you because it seems to, a) know all, and b) tell you what you want to hear. you are allowing its programming to program yourself.
AI CANNOT FEEL. AI CANNOT THINK. AI CANNOT REASON.
it is so frustrating that you do not get why this fandom is (rightfully so) anti-Al, which is evident by your response to someone criticizing your use of it by relying, essentially, “I get that it's bad, but it tells me what I want to hear, so I like it." don't you hear yourself?
how can you treat this so casually?
how can you not read back your copy-pasted chat logs and see exactly how the Al is just regurgitating your sentiments? you were not at all neutral in this or the other chats, and it can read that better than you, and it’s using that against you.
while some of its interpretations sound like what people in our fandom have been saying for years, that is precisely because it stole those insights, can read between the lines to see the validation you are seeking, and spits them up accordingly.
please understand you can get better validation for your feelings from making and talking to friends!!
also, bit of a sidebar, it is fair to feel embarrassed over receiving criticism for a mistake, but reacting in this dismissive, disrespectful manner—saying “OHH NOOO OKAY GUYS YEAH YOU ALL HATE AI I GET IT” is not a good look in the least.
you appear arrogant and ignorant, more and more, each time you tell someone to "just stop engaging" when you are contributing to a worldwide evil stripping us and our friends of their rights to their own creations and simultaneously polluting our fandom space with ill-fitted regurgitations of what we all have been talking about for years upon years anyway.
ultimately, this is just a short snippet of what i have to offer on these points, but i found your posts to be in extremely ill taste and felt compelled to clear up what you seem to be attempting to paint as an unfair attack on you without getting too into it.
i'm sorry to upset you in any manner, as i detest in-fighting in our fandom. at the same time, this is an issue on which i cannot and will not be silent. i hope you can take something away from this, as this is incredibly disappointing to see in our fandom.
Needed to get adult zuko tying his hair back with a hair tie in his mouth out of my system idk
So, I propose It's long overdue When you go to hell, I'll go there with you too And when we're punished For being so cruel The silver lining's I'll be there with you
Scene from let me know if this is careless
The cool thing about being an artist is I can draw literally whatever I want lol I just wanted to draw him looking absolutely needy .__.
Its been really fun wanting to draw again, thank you AO3 for your endless inspiration!!

Man, I leave my computer for a few hours to eat dinner and watch old Scooby-Doo episodes and come back see my feed blowing up with stuff about a Zutara anti comparing Zuko to the KKK.
I mean, I'm not entirely surprised an anti took it this far, especially considering this particular anti's history and how antis, in general, have been spamming the tag with stuff about how Zutara is colonizer apologism. Still, not how I expected my Friday to end.
But as someone whose family actively took a stance against the hate-group mentioned, as the daughter of a former civil rights lawyer, the granddaughter of a man who got death threats for hiring black people at his business, the great-granddaughter of a man who threw his younger brother out of his house and completely cut off contact with him for joining that hate group, and the several-greats-granddaughter of an outspokenly abolitionist Union soldier, I feel it is my duty to say that this anti can go fuck themself.
The KKK (or, as my dad calls them, "the Kluckers") is not some little prop for your virtue-signaling jokes about how much you hate a fictional ship. They were and are a very real danger. A terrorist group that was propped up by institutional and systemic racism, founded by men who were so bitter over the loss of their legal ability to own other human beings that they channeled their hatred into intimidating and killing black Americans and any progressive white Americans who tried to support black Americans' rights or push for reforms.
The Fire Nation is fictional. Their crimes and atrocities are part of a show for children. Zuko isn't real. He's simply a character who is meant to show that good can be found in unexpected places and that it is possible to break free of prejudices, extreme nationalism, and the cycle of abuse.
There is no excuse in my mind, not a single one, that could ever justify bringing real-world evil like the KKK, the Holocaust, or the disgusting crimes being committed against Iran and Palestine into a disagreement about fictional ships from a kids' show.
Those topics might be appropriate for a discussion on how the show handles things like genocide, racism, or colonialism, and then only if they are treated with the seriousness that they deserve, but it is beyond being in poor taste to use them as fodder in a shipping war.
I'm not normally one to jump into situations like this. I try not to meddle or let my anger get the best of me, but there are some things I simply cannot stay silent about. And this...this really got under my skin. I don't know if it's the recent surge of hate in the Zutara tag that's been building up my frustration and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back, or just that this particular "bad joke" hit an especially sore spot for me.
With how I was raised, the KKK were always the real-life boogeyman. Even being white, I grew up terrified of them. I was afraid that they might come out of the woodwork and kill my classmates or neighbors just because of their skin color. At school, when learning about the Civil Rights Movement, I saw old photos of them marching around in those stupid white hoods and felt sick when I saw one picture of a baby whose shithead parents had dressed him in that hateful outfit.
I have tried to avoid being an angry person. I believe anger is a dangerous thing, especially because of how addictive it is. So, I do my best to stay calm and civil and respectful, even when things make me upset. But there is something about the KKK and other white supremacists that triggers a gut reaction of rage and revulsion in me.
So, again, I say to the anti who so casually injected this genuinely horrific example of real-world hate, violence, and bigotry into a "joke" about a fictional character: FUCK YOU!
On a more positive note, I want everyone to be aware that January 18th is a special day of commemoration for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. It honors the Battle of Hayes Pond, an event in which several hundred members of the Lumbee Tribe whooped ass on a gathering of KKK and got the entire hate group expelled from Robeson County and their leader, James "Catfish" Cole, arrested for inciting a riot.
