I just spent the last week making a Halloween costume for my sister. She needed to go as her favorite detective, who happens to be Brother Cadfael.
Before that I was working on a fall wreath that was a gift for a new friend.
So I’ve been too busy to make any videos. :(
Last fall I did a review of natural shampoos, after which I switched to using shampoo bars. Well recently I tried J. R. Liggett’s original shampoo bar. I had been avoiding it because it’s scented and if you know me you know I don’t care for scented products. But it came in a packaged order with my usual bar which is unscented and I figured I should at least give it a chance… and now I have a new favorite.
Firstly, the scent is rose essential oil. It is also extremely lightly scented. They say “Just smells clean!” And they’re not kidding. It has just enough scent to replace the “oil” smell and no more. Second, they say it’s good for people with sensitivities and allergies and I can back that up 100%, it was incredibly gentle. Thirdly, I had been using one of their moisturizing bars because with long hair I have to be concerned about my ends drying out. This bar actually left my hair softer than the moisturizing bar. And lastly, come to find out the recipe for the original bar is actually really old. As in J. R. Liggett found it “loosely placed in an old New England Cookbook”. I mean, how cool is that!
So if you’re looking for a new shampoo and want to try something natural give it a try!
I have a friend from Greece and she just made me aware it’s Easter there today. So I wanted to pass on a recipe she shared with me that is traditional for Easter Sunday there.
This Greek Easter lamb soup with avgolemono sauce, dill, and romaine lettuce is a comforting and flavorful celebration of spring.
It also has links to several side dishes traditionally served with it.

Blackberry/Mulberry Float
Ingredients:
Frozen Mulberries or Blackberries
2 oz Pomegranate Juice
1/4 Lime
Cherry-Lime Soda
Vanilla Ice Cream
Directions:
Fill glass 1/3rd with berries. Mash slightly. Add juice and a squeeze of lime and top with soda. Finish with a scoop of ice cream.
Tried to buy a new computer and had to return it due to false advertising. The box said it had space for two hard drives but once we opened it there was no bay for my data drive AND when we looked it up online someone who tried installing a second hard drive reported that the machine won’t even recognize it. Soooo, returned.
Time to try ordering a part and repairing the one I have. That is, as soon as I get over this cold.
Vampire’s Kiss
Mocktail Recipe
Ingredients: (per glass)
(Palm) Sugar
2-3 Blackberries
1 oz Pomegranate Juice
1 oz Tart Cherry Juice
1 oz Ginger Beer
1 oz Tonic Water
Fresh Lemon & Lime
Instructions:
Rim glass with Palm Sugar a half hour before mixing and store glasses in the refrigerator to dry. Muddle 2-3 Blackberries in the bottom of glass. Add Pomegranate juice, Tart/Black Cherry juice, Ginger Beer, & Tonic Water. Add a squeeze of fresh Lemon & Lime (1/8th). Pour drink and garnish with a slice of Lime.

Valentines Mocktail
Ingredients:
1 Frozen strawberry
4-6 Frozen blackberries
1 tsp Aged Balsamic vinegar
1 oz Pomegranate juice
Cherry-lime soda
Sugar (opt)
Directions:
Defrost the berries. Add balsamic vinegar and mash thoroughly. Press through a sieve to make 1oz of balsamic berry juice.
To glass add balsamic berry juice and pomegranate juice and top with cherry-lime soda.
If using an 8oz glass add two ice cubes before topping.
For a more fancy version rim glass with sugar a half hour before mixing and store glasses in the refrigerator to dry.
Bonus: add 1 tsp honey to remaining fruit mash and use it to top vanilla ice cream.
