I love the Marik-Yami Bakura dynamic because the entire basis of it is that Marik somehow keeps convincing Yami Bakura to do things and Yami Bakura does them and almost dies in the process and gets mad but two seconds later Marik has made them besties again and is already convincing Yami Bakura that the next part of the plan will totally work while subtly mocking him the entire time. It’s fucking Looney Tunes in here. Marik gets every single thing he wants out of this interaction while Yami Bakura gets, in sequence: stabbed, sent to the hospital, forced to find his own way onto the blimp while stabbed, has to share his host body, has to duel Atem, blasted to bits by Slifer, and totally vaporized. By other Marik. And Marik never even gives him the one thing he promised.

Battle City from Yami Bakura’s point of view is a very deadly game of “if you give a mouse a cookie” where every page contains a new hoop he has to jump through before getting the rod from a stupid mortal he definitely thinks he should be able to outsmart with ease and falling for it every goddamn time.
