the thing about hating doribull is it’s technically canon in a large portion of playthroughs and most people who don’t hate gay people will let it play out and enjoy it. but it’s only an option to become canon because they wanted queer rep brownie points and just shoved the two mlm together (while sera gets shoved with an npc who she literally never speaks to in a way the player can see for exactly the same reasons but she gets less content because she’s a lesbian and josie gets nothing), and they’re paired together despite their lack of chemistry and massive cultural conflict that only gets resolved offscreen so that the devs can insist they’re happy together and completely unproblematic and domestic and in love, and the way they executed the relationship’s initiation comes off as homophobic at best with overtones of sexual harassment and blatant crossing of set boundaries, and the portrayal of the iron bull’s sexuality and dominant preference is so steeped in racism that it is impossible to untangle from this ship, and it falls so clearly into homophobic tropes like seme/uke shit like there’s a big masculine dom top and a smaller “feminine” sub bottom and the bottom is shy and stubborn while the top is domineering and forward and the more masculine one is bisexual while the more feminine one is gay and it’s tropey and boring and out of character for both of them especially if bull sides with the qun. but it’s canon 😁

trying to get across that dragon age has a problem with lesbophobia sucks so much because you'll say "it kinda makes me uncomfortable that the two canon relationships between queer women in dao are explicitly abusive and predatory. also the game was absolutely made with men in mind and despite leliana being bisexual, she has a lot more romantic interactions/reactivity with a male character, and overall it just makes a kind of uncomfortable effect where it feels like the intention was Saving this poor abused women from her evil bitch ex with the power of your manly heroic ways" and people will just respond with "yay toxic yuri i loveeeee toxic yuri!!! also leliana is bisexual just romance her as a woman lmao" and completely ignore that you were talking about. like. the intention of the writers. and then you'll say "It sucks that sera is so mistreated by the game and ends up getting paired off with a side character she has no interactions with if you don't romance her" and they'll respond "that's just because she's unlikeable" and completely ignore that part of the reason she's so "unlikeable" is because a lot of people just genuinely do not like lesbians

I know you think it’s “feminist” to hate on women who already have self esteem and image issues (through no fault of their own, as a direct result of patriarchy) for doing something to help them cope with their fleeting youth - which may or may not have been stripped from them against their will due to years of depression, abuse, oppression, or whatever else - but the truth is that the freedom to get Botox is actually a right feminists have fought for - whether intentionally or unintentionally. Women used to get thrown away when we outlived our youth and beauty - now we have the option to prolong it and change the way we are perceived and treated by society as a whole. We ALL had to grow up too fast. We ALL have to cope with a childhood that ended too soon. I’m no less a feminist than you are simply because I choose to hold onto my youth and beauty because it helps me feel better about my own loss of innocence.
