(This was after I gave him the doll and my letter, when I was asking for him to sign my childhood blankie. It meant a lot to me for him to sign it, but I didn’t think it would mean that much to him; clearly I was wrong. I may not have gotten a huge smile or a genuine giggle out of him but I got this, and I think that’s more amazing than any one of his angelic smiles ever could have been.
