sometimes I forget that you are not the ones who have come before you and our love is not a bad thing to be fixed. I have loved a man who emptied out my bowels and used them as an ashtray, leaving behind burning things when he was finished, so forgive me for shaking from the recoil of all the wrong steps it took me to find you. I know that when my past grabs me from the inside and stirs up nightmares long forgotten, I tend to throw words at you like handfuls of mud and I wish I could tell you this without having to confess anything, but I’m sorry for asking you to find me while I was falling. I never should’ve told you to grasp at air like that; I was just hoping you’d find my body before it hurled itself to the ground at the feet of the people who made me want to jump in the first place. I’m sorry for being bad at all the things I’m supposed to be good at, but nobody asks someone who was drowning which way the current is flowing, so I stopped trying. I know you’ll hold my hand and burn with me, but I’m sorry there is even a fire in the first place.

It’s so weird how sometimes when I read a poem it just feels like a bunch of words and sometimes when I read a poem it feels like someone ripping my heart out of my body and throwing it at my face at 90 mph
The only meaningful thing in life is to have someone who knows the tiredness in you.

man: has anyone ever told you you’re beautiful? me: oh no sir, today is my first day out of doors and papà forbade mirrors in the house lest we fall victim to vanity
You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could’ve, would’ve happened… or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move on.
