18.05.2014 I learned yesterday that when you see a bee on the ground that isn’t moving, it’s not necessarily dead, it’s probably just dead tired from carrying lots of pollen and needs re-energising. So if you mix a tiny bit of water with some sugar and let it drink it will give it the boost it needs to continue on its way. Bizarrely, this exact thing happened today! I found a knackered bee, mixed up some sugar water, gave it a drink and watched it guzzle and guzzle then suddenly come back to life. It was amazing! Thank you patrick, it was an excellent tip that i’ll never forget and will continue to pass on to others!

Why is it that paramedics and other emergency staff are really nice and caring and friendly and actually worry about you, but when you actually get to hospital the nurses are all that mean girl from school, and the doctors and specialists are like "Hmm, looks like you've got 'I don't care' disorder and the cure is to stop making me do my job"

At least in North america, Nursing is marketed as a field that's acceptable for housewives and has job stability, Doctoring is marketed as a way to make a lot of money and earn cultural respect.

That impacts who goes into the medical field - nursing is a very popular career choice in conservative leaning cultures, and many doctors are just people who want unquestioned authority.

When you add those factors on to the fact the medical field is set up specifically to keep those labeled as "patients" from becoming medical professionals, you get the current health care system

In the US, healthcare functions as a wing of the prison industrial complex. Who receives care, who gets what diagnosis, who is labeled non compliant, all of these things have social and political repercussions.

Emergency services are hit or miss because they're close enough to the nurse/Dr dichotomy to attract similar people, but the lower threshold for entrance into the profession allows for a greater intersection of people with different motives.

There are people in the notes saying that the alternative reason is that they’re doing it because of trauma and i gotta say that

1) same. I did have this same problem and reason for doing it.

2) this is not actually an alternate reason. You guys also have a problem communicating and while you can trace exactly WHY you have trouble communicating that doesn’t mean it’s okay to treat everyone like they’re potentially your former abuser and that you DO still need to work on this.
