@laparalaela
i donât think iâm exaggerating when i say that the average height for women in the US would increase by at least an inch if teen girls were allowed to eat as much as teen boys are
and not to bring my own clocky bitch ass into this but if cis women werenât so consistently starved their entire lives youâd see a lot more cis women with the kind of bodies that we currently associate closely with trans women. the amount that the standards of feminine presentation are culturally defined by malnutrition is crazy
Not just allowed the same amount of food but allowed/encouraged to have the same amount of physical activity.
I went to a paramilitary school and held myself to the same physical standards the boys were placed on (like girls only have to do x amount of pull ups but boys have to do y), and the body i developed from that made me happy but also had my mom saying I looked like a man
But if all girls were raised to be physically active and risk taking as boy children are, and encouraged to help physically the same way (i need a big strong man to help move these chairs!), the body shape development would be closer to the same

This tweet means a lot to me.
Itâs probably a really cool and good sign that this post I made in 2014 is going around again, right?
late summer / early fall thoughts
I'm still thinking about the guy who saw me realize my wheelchair wouldn't fit in the elevator because he (also a wheelchair user) was already inside it and immediately quipped, "This elevator ain't accessible enough for the both of us."
this is my impression of what it would look like if the toddlers at my job could make traumacore edits about me
alright by popular demand here is more toddler traumacore
happy pride
I've seen this clip many times, but never really appreciated the power of "what was her problem?" Just casually assuming that lesbians come in a wide variety of shapes and being inclusive. As a transbian who is probably still closer to Homer shaped than to my ideal, that's huge!
itâs sooo funny when rude customers encounter employees who can deny them service for the first time.
i was working at a little cafe where I could deny service over bad behavior, harassment etc. & mask mandates had just ended a week before & already people were being weird about me still wearing mineâan N95, the kind shaped kinda like a duckbill.
so this man walked in, looked at me sooo scathingly, laughed at me, and said âdamn. never known a woman to chooseâŚpracticality over looks.â
And I just said, âoh. you can go, youâre not getting a drink.â And he said, âwhat???â
I said, âsir, you just walked in at 6 am & called women impractical and me ugly in one sentence.â
And he was so astonished he didnât even argue he just turned around and left đđđť it was like he suddenly became self aware
One summer I was running ferry rides across a lake so people could see the waterfalls without walking 6 miles when a guy snapped my bra strap as he was boarding the boat. So i immediately threw him off, he started yelling for my manager, my boss cheerfully informed him that, yeah, sheâs the captain of the boat and she can kick off anyone she wants. He goes to storm off, looks expectantly at his girlfriend, and she just goes, âWell, IâM not walking six miles, Michael! Iâll meet you back at the car!â and sits right back down!!!!
The expression on his face when he was told that he couldnât get on the boat, then immediately told that his girlfriend was ditching him? PRICELESS. he just blinked at her and then stormed off like a child. I gave her a free hat and was like maybe rethink this relationshipâŚâŚ.
i once had this fucker come up to order a beer. while i pour it he shows me the wanky fucking chemical structure tattoo on his arm and heâs like âhey. you know what this isâ i was like ânah sorryâ (never cared abt chemistry in school, plus having to look at a some randoâs pretentious tattoo gives me the douche chills). he decides to respond with âheh. you must not read many booksâ
i immediately stop pouring his beer. i reply: âheh. you must not want this beer.â thirsty boy immediately starts groveling like a worm âplease please no i do want the beer im sorry im sorryâ believe me when i say it was one of the most pathetic things ive ever witnessed
gotta love people immediately backpedaling when they realise that there are Consequences To Being Mean
I genuinely believe that part of why it has become so normalized to be openly callous and evil in politics is that customer service culture has trained affluent people that they can treat everyone they consider beneath them however they want and still be treated kindly.
More like the other way around. Modern politics were always going to get this way because the system enforces the type of behavior that leads to customer service culture. Most western systems are designed to create power over others, which means asshole behavior.
I love this and the idea of how common and effective this could be in a post money society.
Right now there's an expectation from most owners that it's your job to do whatever you can to get those precious dollars. And that's largely accepted because yeah obviously the business needs money to survive, and you need to keep your job for the same reason. But in a world where that's not true (or to a smaller degree where the boss cares more about the employees than profit maximization) these kinds of consequences could be the standard method of attitude correction.
When your job is just what you do and not how you support yourself, it becomes way easier to withhold that work. When you take away the profit incentive, it becomes so much fucking easier to freely associate based on your values and who you want to do business with instead of just chasing those with the thickest wallets.
there are places in the world today that are experiencing 40°C for the first time in recorded history. of course there's no way to know whether chucking billionaires into volcanos will appease the sun god but i feel we're doing the scientific method a disservice if we don't at least try
i have an easier suggestion
Promise?
âď¸I have another suggestion
the average red state is closer to Sharia Law than Zohranâs NYC
You: *panicking, running for your life through my labyrinth space station*
Me, over intercoms: You have terf bangs
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
