To give more context: The reviewer was Jean Lorrain, who also was gay. Both showed up to the duel and both missed on purpose.
gay people can never just ask each other out
One of my fave things about Proust is that he goes into deep, extensive detail about gay subculture in turn of the century Paris (as in, one whole volume is called Sodom and Gomorrah) and every once in a while will stop and say "....not that I know anything about this."
Bro. Bro, you obviously do.

Devastating. Absolutely devastating.

Oh my fucking god hell heaven ANYONE. THIS IS INSANE I'M DYING.
So, I think a lot of us agree that Aziraphale had a realisation in 1941 - either that his feelings for Crowley go deeper than he dared to admit to himself, that he's actually in love with Crowley or even that Crowley loves him back - or all of the above.
But - in which moment did he realise? When Crowley saved his books. Not after the countless times Crowley saved him, but when he saved his books, something that's precious to him.
Aziraphale got himself in trouble so many times and Crowley always came around to save him. But he actually needed to witness that Crowley was saving his books for something to click in him.
Interesting thought. Let's look at some facts:
This was not an instance of Aziraphale playing the damsel. He fully believed he was in control of the situation.
Crowley showed up to save him despite having fought the last time they spoke.
Aziraphale immediately accused Crowley of being behind it.
Crowley denied it, insisting he was here to save Aziraphale from embarrassment.
Aziraphale miracled the two of them safe from the bomb but something distracted him from protecting the books.
Crowley very specifically did not forget about the books, and claimed explicit credit for their safety.
Their hands touched.
Aziraphale was mesmerized by something.
I suspect that Aziraphale was first, thrown-off balance by the double cross. Next, thrilled to see Crowley who he probably assumed was still mad about the holy water, especially since he brings it up. Likely then thrown even more by learning that Crowley has been using the name Anthony which means "priceless one" (and given Aziraphale's previous assumptions about what Crowley might call himself - asmodeus: the demon of lust - I suspect this was a big distraction). Not to mention calling Aziraphale his "friend" which probably stirred some more emotions inside him. So when the books were saved, by Anthony, on purpose, when Aziraphale himself had forgotten about them, it was just the final drive of the nail in Aziraphale's pretense that he wasn't completely fallen for Crowley.
Dream.
Ok ok ok. People, just listen.
Anthony J. Crowley invented the bloody Rickroll.

My friend: You know, when Will just took a bite of Cordell’s face, Hannibal looks so fucking in love.
Me: Exactly, you know that face that Neil gives Todd after he recites his poem?
My friend: It’s that
Me: It’s exactly that

Georgia Tennant joined by Staged co-star Anna Lundberg in Doctor Who story
Ahead of Georgia Tennant's return to Doctor Who, in Big Finish audio drama Jenny - The Doctor's Daughter: Saving Time, it has been announced that she will be joined by a very familiar face.
Tennant, who is reprising her role as the Doctor's daughter, Jenny, will be joined by her Staged co-star and Michael Sheen's partner Anna Lundberg.
Lundberg will be playing the villainous Jexabel Glyce, the richest woman in the universe who has a terrible scheme to rebuild the Earth the way she wants it to be.
Lundberg said: "Working with Georgia is a pleasure – before we've played versions of ourselves in Staged, whereas here we get to play these very heightened characters, and be enemies!
...
Meanwhile, Tennant added: "It's very exciting working with Anna again, as a baddie to my goodie this time. And it's nice to have someone that you know very well is not really like that – she's much nicer in real life. Mostly."
There was a murder in Soho... Crowley's pride
@funky-bug1 put this idea in my head so blame them
He's definitely projecting.

Hannibal and Will killing people is gay sex.
arrival of dawn
Woah. Just, woah. This is gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful art.
this is literally THE lewdest saint sebastian painting i've seen yet (including contemporary paintings) and it's from 1610
thinking abt this painting again and how it's simultaneously a representation of being penetrated and of having a phallus and how much ecstasy he's in
this is truly the gaysex of paintings
Oh, yes, classical art. Obviously people were more chaste before. Yep.
