hey gamers !! long time no see. i suck at keeping solo blogs alive so over the next week i will be moving ati to a sideblog to @hauntics !! same url and everything but i will keep you updated <3

they've played this game a million times. this isn't the first and this won't be the last time they meet under less than desirable circumstances. neither will it be the last time he will toss a pair of gloves and wash his forearms of a welcome guest's blood. it's not like he minds much. though, the leader of this situation still hangs in the air. ❛ actually, kostya ❜ a pause between the two words and an emphasis on the nickname. it's almost as if he's given his former offer a second thought and came to the conclusion that it is a demand. atienne does not mean to belittle him and his oh - so - busy life, but this is his own expertise and he insists. they both must know he is nothing if not stubborn. ❛ this isn't nearly as much up for debate, as you think it is. ❜ he pauses once more. listening to the voices in the stale and metallic livingroom air. they demean, they mock. you had your chance to get out of this. you had your chance to watch them leave you be. an ever so slight jerk of his head shakes out the conversation not held by living people.

❛ you cannot work without healing and you cannot heal without rest. easy as that. ❜ atienne does realize that he sounds like a concerned mother. one part of it is correct, at least. he is concerned. always has and always will be, if it's kostyantyn. an odd thing to realize, though. he should be fearful, he should beg for them to leave him be. they are, after all, the thing that haunts him most. of all the spirits that share his space, this one is flesh and bone. this one is real. this one bled all over his windowsil. this one gets granted the most delicate hands atienne can offer while mending.

nevertheless, he disappears into his bedroom door for just a moment and returns with a spare blanket. the decorative one on the couch offers little warmth. he's always been one to hold kostyantyn's gaze. not tonight, though. almost sheepish in the way he drapes it over one on the armrests, before he turns to the cabinet.

he sighs as he squats down and pulls open one of the wooden doors of the, mostly glass, cabinet in his living room. a hum and a lot of digging fill the following silence until he retrieves a paper box - still sealed. he breaks the sticker seal with a fingernail and pulls out a plastic blister. the box itself is tossed listlessly onto the coffee table while a metal hand holds out the plastic to kostyantyn. ❛ now [ . . . ] this should tide you over for the night, at least. one every four hours, two if it gets worse. three and i won't take responsebility anymore. you can take the rest of the blister home. ❜ he doesn't expect the box to still be on the table once @gonchayas is gone. he's grown to not expect anything from kostyantyn - unpredictable as he is. ❛ also - i do have a door, you know. ❜

true tension lies in silence and what comes with it. the fleeting eyecontact, the mirrored movements, the silent judgement of eachother. but oh, it is never truly silent for atienne. neither is he ever alone - there is always someone, something, just barely out of reach, out of vision, out of audible range. though, she doesn't know that yet, does she ? has he given it away by merely being present ? has his presence been so off putting ? a moment passes and he shakes the thought. surely not. it must be something else. something he said or did, something that annie had perhaps not anticipated out of him.

he hums, in thought about how to finally break the ice, but before he can even conjure up a proper thought, @viskozen speaks up :

atienne spots his chance to diffuse the tension and takes it. ❛ a lot more charming than anticipated, i assume ? ❜ deflection. he's good at that, at least he likes to believe it to be true. though, his underlining smile fades as quickly as it appeared. being found out . . . found out ? no, that's not the right word. there is nothing he is hiding, only truths he is omitting. truths he'd admit if prompted. at least to those at home, he harbors no secrets. it's easy to pinpoint the ghosts clouding his every move.

ㅤThe demi-god had been preoccupied, too. On things that would have been deemed unimportant to all... except to himself. ( daydreaming is not so much of an uncommon hobby , you see . ) Though if the blame were to be taken by anybody, it would have been him. Remauriel. Not the stranger's. At least, that is what angelic agent would have claimed it to be. He should have been more prudent on making himself unseen and unnoticed. ( he believed he had , though . ) Most people would have have not run into him. Most normal people, that is. ( this one is not normal though , is he ? ) Many had not bumped into him, really. Until now.

Perhaps, then, this was pre-determined? Maybe. Maybe not. 

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤthe gods , too , like to play games . 

ㅤㅤ"hmmm ... ?"ㅤㅤ

ㅤA smile. and a soft, gentle hum. ( perhaps lethargic even ) unbothered. he is completely and utterly unbothered. He shows absolutely no sign of anger. his head does offer a slight tilt. Confusion, yet also... amusement(?) So is that the card that is being played? he know better than to reveal his hand. instead plays the unfamiliar - and innocent - stranger perfectly. ( he does not , after all , know him personally . ) despite the fact that the other, somehow, has managed to see through the veil. 

most people cannot see him , let alone bump into him . ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ' how peculiar . '

ㅤAh! well, since he has already seen him ( bumped into him , actually ) - and has spoken to him - there is no point in ignoring him. ㅤㅤ"no..."ㅤㅤ he responds tender and sweet, voice airy with strange sentimentality, ㅤㅤ"should we have?" ㅤㅤhe looks at him with a serene kindness, waiting for a response.

ㅤㅤ"graduated together, that is."

the hum, the long silence, both things that immediately make him uneasy. not by the person but rather by his own actions. with his apology remaining unaccepted, atienne feels himself more impolite by the breath ( as few as he takes, since ). unoccupied hand scratches the the wrist of the other. the following words, however, confuse him more than anything. should we have ? who asks that ? his head tilts like a curious animal. ❛ i don't . . . ❜ again, it stops him dead in his tracks. even if he only thinks about it for a fleeting moment. the rest of the sentence escapes him until the shake of his head. atienne inhales a loud breath and tries again. ❛ i don't know ? ❜ there is little he can add as an answer to the given question. why should they have ?

the rabble in his ears once again rises to a cacophony, in which he can barely make out his own thoughts. the next statement that follows is one given little thought, for he cannot hear his own ❛ that's such an odd question. i must have mistaken you, then. sorry about that, too. ❜ his everlasting habit of apologizing persists even in the strangest encounters and he swiftly falls deeper into the wish to be elsewhere. maybe this time, his apology will be accepted and he will be given leave. though, something keeps him - either the pull of spirits or the mere curiosity about the given statements. ❛ probably for the best you didn't share schools with me. ❜ he adds finally and feigns a laugh. it is half-hearted and stressed. there are quite a few stories he could share, classmate or not. a school such as his only invites disaster. in hindsight, of the hilarious variety, but he still vividly remembers the horror and embarrassment his younger self would have felt in the moment.

❛ if not school, then work perhaps ? ❜ he still isn't letting up the search of the familiarity. it's an itch in the far back of his skull, an itch that demands timely scratching.

upsides to dating ati: he's nice and polite and very attentive

downsides: the ghosts and spirits are a shared custody thing

i think if both laudice and the general hauntings were more of the poltergeist variety, ati would not have that many issues with them. bc moving, throwing, interacting with things is something physical that doesn't make him feel like he's losing it. movement just along his periphere, barely inaudble talking and whispering and just barely noticable weights around his shoulders like someone else's arms, however, are making him feel like it

ati's best days are the ones when he recieves his quarterly letters from his sisters. the rest? well, he's surviving at least

❛ careful ! ❜ it's no warning, nor is it a demand. if anything, it sounds like a plea. hands shoot forward as if he's about to catch a falling baby but nothing lands in them. it doesn't take long for a sigh of relief to follow once he knows the mechanical sparrow safe. at least for the moment. ❛ sorry. that wasn't supposed to come out this loudly. they're fragile, is all ❜ atienne's tone more apologetic than anything. his attention moves from @hatefueled's hand, to his face. for a moment, atienne simply watches for any reaction before he snaps his fingers like he'd just been graced with an idea.

a swift left hand reaches into the neckline of his shirt & past the static compass to retrieve a wind - up key. ❛ i can wind it up for you if you'd like ❜ an offer he'd love to fulfill. there are few precious chances to show off one of his remaining hobbies and the care that goes into them. a labor of love, he'd call them if asked.
