i am of the sincere belief that if ur on ur computer a lot you should visually customize it to high hell and back not just for funsies but also because it has literally made me less depressed before. its kind of like how rearranging your bedroom is good for your brain, yknow. i do stuff like this every few months

LIVE WALLPAPER: wallpaper engine. only thing on here that costs any money (its like 5 bucks on steam). im sure theres free alternatives but this one has a lot of presets and stuff so its less hassle and its what i use. might be a bad idea for lower end pcs tho

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies

Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.
just FYI, this is quite literally what the climate scientists at my work who specialized in wildfire smoke impacts recommend. it works great, it's cheap to make, and it will make a noticeable impact on your air quality.
i have asthma & keep one of these running in my room perpetually. after I set it up the difference in my sleep quality was pretty much night and day. Dont waste your time on proprietary air filters; SIMPLY bust out the duct tape

If you've ever heard a movie score and thought "holy shit, this is incredible", there's like, a 50% chance it was Hans Zimmer who composed it.
This is a pretty major letdown, ngl.

Anyway shoutout to John Williams, amazing composer and probably the one who made the other 50% of "holy shit amazing" soundtracks (Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Superman, and incidentally the original Harry Potter theme and score) who famously worked closely with the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, Angela Morley. He respected her, and so far as I can see, has never made transphobic remarks.

Lar’icestra: I don’t think she’s particularly paranoid tbh. Most of her days are pretty chill and low stakes and unless she goes back to Menzo she’s not around anyone she used to know or anyone likely to seriously harm her
Mal: I can never gauge others opinions on my OCs but I don’t think anyone finds Mal particularly scary. I don’t think he’s actually good enough at anything to be that scary tbh…
Nim: Nim has a VERY high pain tolerance. She basically gets hit with giant hunks of wood and/or metal every day, you either get used to it or stop doing that. Their worst pain moment is pretty gross but second worst is getting kicked in the balls. Not a lot prepares you for that
Iimyl: I haven’t had anyone make any particularly out of character assumptions about Iimyl tbh. I think in-universe, a lot of people assume he’s a) a Lolthite, b) evil, and/or c) a fucking weirdo. The last one is definitely true

Question 18 is “What are your OCs bad habits” and is from this list
Iimyl chews on the arm of his glasses when thinking (as long as he doesn’t need his glasses for seeing). He also will just put things he’s holding down wherever and then be unable to find them later, and tends to (sorta understandably) assume that 99% of Eilistraeeans would hate his guts if they knew his deal

17) Iimyl definitely finds comfort in routine, so when life is hard he becomes more strict about his schedule and tends to try to make every day the same. He also tends to seek the company of others when he’s overwhelmed
23) Iimyl is absolutely a calm when angry person. He tries to remain pleasant and in control when upset, but it is generally clear that the calmness he’s trying to project is fake. Iimyl has only truly lost his cool a few times, and when that happens he becomes significantly more impulsive and prone to solving his issues with violence. He also starts screaming at people, which is not great.
29) Iimyl definitely thinks before he acts, which is great when he has the time, but means he gets very stressed and panics when forced to make quick calls. Iimyl also feels most comfortable in the company of others, which is great for things like dicey social situations but bad for when he’s awake at 2 am and stressed out. Thirdly, he tends to keep very few items. This is an excellent habit when it comes to moving or cleaning, but makes it hard to get him physical gifts and is rough for having more than like 2 visitors at a time
