the way Anya would have a FIELD TRIP at this party with her telepathy im giggling
Very interesting discourse happening on spy x family twitter right now. Apparently, we’re mad at Twilight for… *reads notes* acting like a spy? People are mad he might tranquillise Yor to get himself out of a dangerous situation.
He’s been panicking for two whole chapters. He’s surrounded by SSS. He's running out of ideas. He knows if they catch him, they’ll either torture or kill him. There’s a long con mission riding on him getting out safely. Of course he’s stressed and willing to do anything possible to get out of that party.
Why is potentially tranquillising someone his biggest sin? HE’S AN ACTUAL SPY PEOPLE. He has a body count!!! He’s not some squeaky-clean law-abiding citizen. Tranquillising someone is not out of the realm and would honestly be pretty tame on the list of Twilight’s crimes. It's also not being painted as the heroic thing to do here anyway. It's a desperate act. So the outrage seems disproportionate to me. Like, that man is a spy. He is not thinking straight. He is not normal. He never has been...
Also, it’s a comedy. What about that setup and Endo as the author tells you it’ll be played straight? Tranq probably wouldn’t even work on Yor since she has a strong immunity to poisons and sedatives. Plus, Twilight is not getting off scot-free. This chapter is literally him suffering the consequences of bugging and interrogating Yor disguised as the SSS agent earlier in the story. He is well acquainted with karma by now.
AND he has chronic gut issues.
Anyway, this is my favourite panel from the chapter. Look at him. Pathetic loser.
all i want for 2026 is that gigantic rancid AI bubble to finally burst in such a catastrophic way that the consequences will be so good and i'll never have to see another AI generated image ever again

PRACTICE URGE SURFING
The more I think about chapter 132, the more I realise how uncharacteristic and "stupid" (the word is a bit strong but let me explain) loid's protectivness to shield yor was in the hijack arc. It is so unlike anything that a professional like Twilight woudl/should have done in this situation.
If Twilight had actually thought it through he would have realized quickly enough that the best solution was to 1) diffuse the situation and break the tension and 2) redirect the attention on something else
But no - he gets in front of the gun and glare at the guy with a semi threatening sentence - which anyone as clever and experienced as him in critical situations would know that it's not the best way to difuse a situation when you are weaponless in front of armed people. Also his entire way of working isn't the most confrontational (unlike yor) he works best at manipulating people and getting into their good side with exagerated niceties (like he did with Donovan or with his jealous boss)
He may have tried afterward to reason his action, saying to himself that looking at the angle and likely inexperience of the guy he would have been fine but in reality he was less than a meter away from a guy with his finger explicitly drawn on the trigger - there wasn't much he could have done to dodge the bullet (and yor knows this too - she protected shaty and her family with insane instinct in the cruise arc but she new that at this distance there was nothing she could have done to protect him and that's why she was so scared and disturbed). I don't think endo would have forgotten how quickly she protected shaty form sniper bullets and spears (im not sure its the actual name of the weapon) at close distance just for the sake of making yor scared. The fact that she is so distraught and her "you would have died" is like a professional statement on how bullshit loid's evaluation of the situation - that he wasn't really in danger - is.
And he realised it too - when he start spiraling on the notion of sacrifice for his family or the mission it's like a confession that yes, he could have died. It's like a second attempt at rationalizing his action - since the idea that he wasn't really in danger didn't work then that must mean that he was ready to sacrifice himself ..... but it had to be for the mission or else he is compromised! Even him realise how illogical it is - sure yor is an important part of the mission, for plan C or for the family cover (although I'm not sure Eden would expel their student because their mother died - that seems a bit harsh even for them), but if he dies then there is no one to actually accomplish the mission. If yor dies he still has plan A and plan B.
Although Twilight has been shown to also go out of his way to protect others it was never completely out of thoughts - when he plunge to protect Fiona, he knows that he has a anti-bullet vest and so would be able to tank a bullet better than her who had none.
All this to say - when I first read this chapter, of course I knew or hoped that twilight protected yor because he love her but a part of me also went onto believing that maybe twilight had already calculated the risks and new he wasn't really in danger - maybe it wasn't that much deep feelings for her that made him act this way and more his reponsability to protect a civil (especially considering as she is part of his mission) and so on .... BUT what I have realised is that 1) he didn't calculate anything - yor tells us as much - he really was in danger and 2) if he had really acted as a responsible professionel to protect a civil he would have acted professionally by diffusing the situation instead of throwing oil in the fire as he did.
What he did was everything but professional. He acted on intinct, with no plan whatsoever, as the most shojo-esque partner that sees his loved one threatened = shield them and bark in the hope that the threat backs away (which thankfully it did but it was more luck than anything)
At least that's what I think ....
Which is why I cheered so hard 🥰🥰🥰
When you said it like that, this scene is just like the iteration of chp 86, right?
During chp.86 his body moves on its own. But this time, Twilight whole body and emotion moves on its own. He's angry.
He's angry because someone dares to threaten his asset. (But is Yor really only an asset???) 🤭🤭🤭
Saw a passage from the book and got inspired
i think that Loid loving Yor doesn’t have to be something he notices as inherently romantic as first, but rather the feeling of safety and a warmth that he hasn’t experienced since his mom died.
It’s possible that in relationships the more you live together and exist as a family, the spark of romance fades into something more mellow and consistent like safety, but in Loid’s case I see it more as he starts off with this consistency and experiencing being loved before he himself acknowledges that he too, is allowed to feel that way.
Because of the years of forbidding himself to get attached, to learn how to stay emotionally distanced from those he “works” with, this is the first emotionally charged segment of his life, where he slowly starts putting importance of the family, of his wife and daughter regardless of whether he believes it for the mission or not.
It’s so interesting to see his character flesh out because now he doesn’t just excuse every action with a “for the mission”, sometimes it’s genuinely “for Anya’s well-being”, or “for Yor’s happiness”. This man is becoming a father, a husband, a part of a family, something he hasn’t experienced in earnest since he was ~10, and is only natural that it creeps up on him and he has no clue what’s going on until he’s in too deep.
sorry about the run-ons I have so much more to say but I’ll return lol
Yes. This. 100%.
Tbh, the very first time Twilight feels that safety is way back at chp.35. Then his body acknowledge it at chp.86.
Ohohohoho.... yep 🥰🥰🥰
Hi, I have been seeing your blog for a few weeks and I really like your SxF analysis.
I wanna ask what is the meaning of the shadows underneath Loid's speech bubbles when he said "Yes. I love her" (Chapter 134)
Thank you, I'm glad you've been enjoying my blog ☺️
Yeah, I've been thinking about what the shadow on his speech bubbles mean.
I took a look at a handful of other panels during emotional/important moments (obviously checking every panel in the series would be too much, so I just picked some) and I couldn't find any others that used shadows like this; they were either the usual opaque speech bubbles, transparent ones (which I discussed here) or the dialogue is just right on the panel with no bubble around it (which, like the transparent speech bubbles, seem to occur when the character is saying something very intense and/or important).
So if Endo intentionally made a brand new type of speech bubble for this scene specifically, it only further reinforces how significant it is. I can't say exactly what he's trying to convey with it, but my interpretation as of now is that it's further emphasizing Twilight being truthful - the shadows give off a sense of depth and a "popping out" affect to the words, as if what he's saying is at the forefront rather than being pushed or hidden behind a mask. Again, this is just my interpretation. I could be wrong 😅
If anyone knows of another example in the series where shadows are placed behind speech bubbles like this, please let me know!
I'm reblogging this because I wanted to highlight a few more examples of the shadowed speech bubbles that were brought to my attention!
Thanks to @rafaron1223 for showing me these examples:
It's interesting how the shadows in these two are slightly different - the one for Yor's confession seems a bit lighter but is still hidden behind the transparent speech bubble, while the speech bubble for Olga is totally transparent, with the shadow being fully visible behind it.
And here's another one, courtesy of @summerslastlight
This one of McMahon looks similar to Twilight's from the new chapter, though the shadow is a bit lighter.
It's hard to say if the shadow effect has any true meaning or not, but @micola-originaltaste let me know about this theory that's apparently circulating on Reddit that the shadows are an indication of the layers of deception that the speaker is concealing. For example, when Anya confessed her powers to Damian, her speech bubble was totally transparent, indicating that that's the only thing she's hiding, and since she confessed it, there nothing more to conceal. Yor's confession has a slightly lighter shadow depth compared to Twilight's since, after stating her feelings for Loid, she's not hiding anything else besides her assassin job. Twilight, however, is not only hiding his secret job as spy, but he's likely still very in denial about his feelings and will probably try to convince himself that he only said he loves Yor as part of his coverup (even though the SSS officer saw through him). So he's still concealing more about himself compared to the others even after this confession.
I want to say that the example with Olga is an indication that she's letting go of all the hiding she had to do while living "in the underground" since she'll be starting a new life far away from it all. Not sure about McMahon, but I want to say his situation is similar to Twilight's in that he has true love for his wife but maybe isn't fully aware of it himself.
...or maybe there's no meaning at all to the shadow effect and Endo just kinda gives the speech bubbles unique effects at random to make them stand out, nothing deeper than that. But it's fun to analyze anyway 😅
honestly i think it's a bit of a lost art with some younger fans these days to just like............do things? people hold themselves back from making amvs, gifs, writing fic or drawing art, etc etc because "they don't know how" but the truth is a lot of us didn't have that knowledge handed to us, we looked at what other people were doing and then tried to copy that in our own way. and yeah the first hundred thousand words you write are probably going to be kind of shit. and the first gifsets you make will probably be grainy. your amvs will be clumsily edited, and your first year or two of drawing will make you cringe in the future. but if you don't try, you'll never improve! and these days there's so many more resources out there with the internet being so large—art tutorials for specific things, gifmaking guides handed around that compile the steps down the the finest details, writers who talk about their processes, amv makers/vidders who are more than happy to share what transitions or text overlays they use. and i sometimes want to take people by the shoulders and say, just try! take the first leap! the worst you can do is make it badly, and made badly is better than not made at all.
I’ve noticed this too.
Back in the late 2000’s - 2010’s, everyone was excited to share their art online because the internet was so new. Now, I think people get overwhelmed by it, and don’t want to post anything.
Just know that because of the internet, you could end up surprising yourself. You aren’t going to get attention immediately, but once you’ve got something special, people will let you know.
It’s not going to be easy, but once you’re ready, people will find your art and let you know what they think.
when the author describes someone dying and you can just tell they’ve never actually died by the way it’s written
the future is wild, yo.
