WHAT THE FUCK??!!!
Male victims of domestic abuse have a 47% chance to be threatened by police, 35% of being completely ignored, and a 21% chance of being arrested themselves.
Of the abused men who called domestic violence hotlines, 64% were told that they “only helped women.” In 32% of the cases, the abused men were referred to batterers’ programs. Another 25% were given a phone number to call that turned out to be a batterers’ program. A little over a quarter of them were given a reference to a local program that helped. Sixteen percent said the people at the hot line “dismissed or made fun of them.”
If anyone wonders why men don’t report being abused, maybe its because the only number they have to get “help” is the same number that’s going to tell them they’re the abusive one.
I know that this is a problem and stuff but you did ignore the unhighlighted part of the above screenshot which says “and men who have been victims of violence in their relationships.” (It’s still shitty that the hours aren’t the same and they have a line for abusive men to address their own violence but not for abusive women)
You’ll notice that the women’s side only acknowledges victims.
The description for the men’s side not only specifies men alone being abusive, but also has it in stated before speaking of male victims of domestic violence. Men being victims is considered an afterthought.
There is even this fancy feminist domestic violence program called the Deluth Model, which handles rehabilitation for domestic violence cases that, by default, treats all women as victims and all men as perpetrators. Where even if the woman alone was violent or manipulative, they are told that this could only be if the man pushed her to it. That her behavior can only be in retaliation, and thus not abuse. Victim Blaming. Various states in the US use the Deluth Model to handle cases of domestic violence.
@jusdreiin-jusdaun lack of empathy for men creating discrimination and harming victims.
Or it could be addressing that the majority of victims are female and the majority of absuers are male and so they’ve adjusted their hours and services to match.
Men are 100% free to create their own hotlines, shelters, and funding just like women did.
So your logic is garbage but let me explain why.
Ignoring the info you received about female on male domestic violence not being taken seriously by society, police, or courts, clearly affecting statistics, why would men being the majority aggressor mean they dont deserve the same services? Why do male services call them the aggressor while female services treat them like victims? You said it yourself that men can be victims too yet you clearly support the notion that…men also arent victims too.
Also as stated before, due to systematic misandry of government funding for gendered abuse shelters only going to women’s shelters, it is a bit unfair of you to just…expect men to ope shelters. They take tons of public government funding. It is significantly easier to open a women’s abuse shelter and feminism is partly to blame.
Remember, feminists have been opposing male abuse shelters and the recognition of male victims for decades. Like with rape laws in India, the government has noticed that society doesnt care about male victims of domestic violence. That many popular activist groups oppose giving men a proportionate amount of aid. So they dont.
This is another example of you not researching what men go through before speaking on what men go through.
