”Just Fucking Go” - Tess
“Oh, creepy…”

So far I’ve only got one starter left, and a couple asks to answer but I’ll see to it those get answered tomorrow. Thank so much for a good first day ;w; you all have been sweet. good night dears !
“is that all you’ve got?”

Tess scoffed, of course, what better place to be competitive than after the fight but that doesn’t stop her from laughing through the heaps of breath, smearing blood from her lip across his hand. “ You best stay on my good side Texas, this makes for a good example.”
There had already been enough hours between them to dawn the headache from Joel and Ellie’s bickering, understandably enough from his own hangup. He never gave her the details but she was smart enough to put two and two together. Joel never spoke of kids. He rarely spoke of his late daughter, and she knew...this was a bit of a hard sell for him. But if there was just one minute that she could ask for some peace, she’d demanded the hell out of it from either of him. He took the suggested walk ( only because she asked him too ) and gave them some space while he went to cool down. Tess knew there would be more to talk about later. “Listen, just—don’t egg him on. He’s hard enough to deal with when he gets like this. Don’t go makin’ worse for us. I get it, things aren’t favourable, but the easier you make this on us, the easier we’ll make it on you.” @xendure / ♡.

he snickers, lips to glass with a burn that’s not unpleasant – he hasn’t touched the stuff in a long time, a luxury he’s not granted ( much like her peaceful company with a deck of cards ) more than once or twice a lifetime. he treasures it for what it is; fleeting, as these quiet moments always would be. the hand shuffles, he almost wants to prove her wrong ( he’s cheating, he knows she knows ), reveal no cards up his sleeve, no plot to beat her, but he takes to giving a grin instead.
❝ you’re just a sore loser. ❞
She gives him a look, one that certainly spelled trouble as she reclined back on the rickety porch chair and felt it bend with her weight. Her legs stretch out onto the floorboards while she laughed, a disappointed shake to her head while she fixed her jaw in a smug grin. “Nothin’ sore about it, Texas, seeing as I don’t lose.” She laid down her hand, a winning full house slapped down between the old bottle of bourbon and their measly pot of shared ration cards and a couple unbent cigarettes. Her winning smile is sour, smug in all it’s delight as she knocks back another sip of her glass. “I win.” She says, chuckling at his attempt before reaching down the front of her shirt and pulling out a spare card tucked beneath the band of her undershirt. “Had a backup plan just in case you decided to get crafty this time.”
She cursed herself for not having back up, but she made it clear she wanted to go alone on this. Despite Joel’s insisting. Normally the tunnels were clear, everything in order save for the old leaks they kept forgetting to plug up ( She’d have to remind Allen to be more thorough ) and was glad to see that they were at least free of any spores or lingering marks of infected. It took WEEKS to clean out the last one that nearly made things impossible to navigate. The last thing she expected to hear was footsteps, quiet ones—too quiet to be going anywhere important, and it was enough to make her nervous as she pulled the gun from her holster and slowly rounded the corner into junction of paths that converged into a wider space. And found a stranger. “Can I help you?” Tess spoke firm, fingers tightening into a white knuckle grip around her gun. “You look a little lost.” @sarraqum / ♡.
She had been pretty quiet the whole time, save for a few quips and some bickering between her and Joel, but Tess could see the girl was keeping up. From the looks of nightfall, it was coming in quick and they were running out of what little light was afforded to them, and though the military finally thinned off their trail, it didn’t make them any less paranoid. Tess suggested they take a moment, catch their breath while things were still quiet and the rain was letting up, wandering through the empty constructs of the old city and finding themselves an empty place to park from the rain. ( An old office building, decrepit than the others scattered amongst the ruins ) Tess sighed, wringing the water from her bandana, and took a squat right in front of the girl. “How you holdin’ up kid, we might wait here until the rain lets up.” @endurcandsurvive / ♡.
“Hold still, quit your achin’...” He was lucky she was being civil after the stunt they just pulled, especially considering stubbornness wasn’t a good playing card in their deck. Needless to say, their schedule exchange with those on the outside didn’t exactly go over well, a few misplaced words and their bruised egos winded them up in a world of trouble with military nearly breathing down their necks. They almost lost a tunnel to this. Tess was at least kind enough to skip arguing, settling for the silent treatment as she leaned over him, cleaning away the large gouge in his temple, and thumbing a loop of thread into the needle. “Now, I’m no doctor but this’ll at least keep you from bleeding out...I’ll have Simon look you over tomorrow.” She wasn’t too kind with the needle. @wearesurvivxrs / ♡.

*whispers* this is the best thing ive ever read
ff, you're too kind~ ♡
It came as no surprise that Joel managed some how to grate on what little patience Bill had left, met the hostile personality that was more out of function than formality. At least she knew better than to be anything but curt with him sometimes. Much less run him into one of these little tirades that could last longer than agreeable. Thus, why she didn’t come empty handed. “Bill—B...JUST ten seconds, okay.” She interrupted, pulling her backpack from her shoulders and yanking at the zipper. She brandish a tall amber bottle, the label water logged from recognition but it was easy enough to recognize the rarity of beer. “I’m not here for business alright, just wanna talk.” @wisenedup / ♡.
They weren’t often afforded the luxury of days off, in or outside martial law and bricks walls, but when they were, the days were good. She finally broke out that spare that she saved for them from their last few runs, promised him ‘ our next day, we’ll crack it open ‘ and she’d even agree to play him cards again. Tess took a sip from her glass, feeling the cool burn slip down her throat as she looked over the remaining hand on the over turned fruit crate. Of course, Joel was quiet when she was scoping the playing field. “Alright, where’s the heart...I knew you were gonna play dirty again.” @textrigger / ♡.
Walking through the eastern tunnels had been a bad idea from the start, considering other smugglers liked to pretend they owned the place ( clearly, they had no idea who they were dealing with ) and more recently Fireflies liked the safety banned areas gave them. Which ultimately made her job harder, having to foot through open areas just to get their routes recorded and current. Tess stops up ahead, hearing the soft crunch of boots skitter across the dirt and slowly reaches for her gun. Her eyes catch first the small glint of blonde, before the chain around his neck. Bending slowly from the shadows she eases back from her gun and scoffs into the light. “I’d put that gun down if I were you.” @warcommanded / ♡.
