It is pretty cool to be at this zoom wedding
And watch my sister text my other sister
And just in general act like I don’t exist
And people wonder why I don’t want any part of of this family. And why I am detatched avoidant. People keep showing me my level of value to their life and no matter what I say out loud it just fucking grates on you.
I might know I’m worth more than how I’m treated (or perhaps even just how I’m perceived to be being treated) but that doesn’t make easier to deal with the dismissiveness when it happens
if you’d’a been there if you’d’a seen it i betcha you would have done the same
petition to ban “slideshow” as an article format on the internet
This man is at the top of a very particular iceberg.
Alright, I’m going to break this down and make it as simple as possible.
movies and shows that cast men in trans women’s roles teach people (especially straight men) that trans women are “men in dresses”
sometimes, when one of those straight men meets a trans woman, he is attracted to her
however, when he finds out that she is trans, he mentally reclassifies her as a “man in a dress”
which means that in his mind, he is now attracted to a “man”
but he’s straight, and oftentimes really invested in remaining so
so his solution is to punish her for his attraction
in this case, punishment means violence and sometimes even murder
thus, having men play trans women directly leads to the deaths of trans women (usually Black trans women)
Any questions?
Does this still apply for the things like the Danish Girl where it’s a historical trans person who did not have the technology and science trans people can use today?
Yes. Even trans women without access to transition supplies are still women, and there are always trans women who haven’t had surgery yet/ don’t want surgery who I’m sure would be more than happy to play roles like that
VULTURE IS GOING THERE
“Having a daughter shouldn’t be a requirement for internalizing the problems of working within a sexist industry. Your wives gave birth to a baby girl, not a moral compass. (For what it’s worth, George Clooney, a new dad, managed to talk to the Daily Beast for a whole interview without mentioning his infant twins, one of whom is a girl.) Peppering statements about how shocked and appalled you are with a mention of your daughter just makes you look clueless. Because here’s the thing: Only a sociopath needs a daughter — or a sister, a girlfriend, a wife, or even just a lady standing in front of him at Starbucks — to make him queasy enough at the thought of a sexual predator in his industry to do something about it. You don’t need a daughter to feel guilty about working with a man who preys on young women, or about not acting to stop him. You just need a conscience.”
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Women managed to figure out you shouldn’t harm men without needing to have a son. This isn’t that complicated.
This is one my favorite SNL moments
obviously unplanned moments like this are why I love SNL
so hey who else was taught as a kid that “”””wanting attention”””” in any way was wrong and shameful and has grown up unable ask for help or support even in great distress/suffering
I grew up being told I deserved attention and if I wanted it I was encouraged to ask. For attention but also for help. I can literally walk into the middle of my parent’s living room when they’re watching a movie and declare “MY DEPRESSION IS REALLY BAD RIGHT NOW AND I NEED ATTENTION” (usually with my arms spread wide and sung in an off-key operatic voice) and they will pause their movie and give me much attention and hugs if I am in a mood for hugs.
Every single person who reblogs this is allowed to be adopted by my parents. I asked my mom and she said ok.
Sometimes I forget non-abusive parents exist and I read your posts about your parents and I’m like “sounds fake but okay”
reblog this and you will hear great news
Tell me you fat fuckin horse
Well now he isn’t going to say anything you’ve hurt him
A movie about Viola Davis because her life deserves to be known
“The only picture I have of my childhood is the picture of me in kindergarten, I have this expression on my face — it’s not a smile, it’s not a frown. I swear to you, that’s the girl who wakes up in the morning and who looks around her house and her life saying, ‘I cannot believe how God has blessed me.’ “
“I would jump in trash bins with maggots looking for food, and I would steal from the corner store because I was hungry, I never had any kids come to my house because my house was a condemned building, it was boarded up, it was infested with rats. I was one of those kids who were poor and knew it.”
“I was the kind of poor where I knew right away I had less than everyone around me. We had nothing, I cannot believe my life, I just can’t, I’m so blessed. I would jump in trash bins with maggots looking for food, and I would steal from the corner store because I was hungry, I never had any kids come to my house because my house was a condemned building, it was boarded up, it was infested with rats. I was one of those kids who were poor and knew it.”
“It became a motivation as opposed to something else — the thing about poverty is that it starts affecting your mind and your spirit because people don’t see you, I chose from a very young age that I didn’t want that for my life. And it very much has helped me appreciate and value the things that are in my life now because I never had it. A yard, a house, great plumbing, a full refrigerator, things that people take for granted, I don’t.”
“I first envisioned myself as an actor after I watched Cicely Tyson in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman when I was a child.”
“It wasn’t until then that I had a visual manifestation of the target I wanted to hit, It also gave me hope for the future and a different life for myself, she helped me have a very specific drive of how I was going to crawl, walk, run from that environment.”
“I became an artist, and thank God I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life,”
I still laugh when I think about the fact that the Ministry of Magic employs people to come up with explanations for magic-related incidents for Muggles.
I need a mockumentary in the style of Parks & Rec about the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee sitting around a table brainstorming excuses as a floating quill and roll of parchment record everything. The Muggleborns on the committee constantly look into the camera like they’re on The Office.
I don’t think you understand how much I want to be magical just so I could work for this office
“Oh yes, ma’am, you were hallucinating. Giants don’t exist.”
“No, no, you simply saw a man riding a horse, don’t be preposterous. A man can’t be a horse.”
“Come now, be reasonable. Everybody knows a Ford Anglia can’t… can’t fly…… Excuse me, I need to call a colleague of mine to ask him about, ah, something entirely unrelated.”
Addition: imagine being the cousin of a muggle-born wizard or witch who works for this office. You work at HuffPo or CNN and every so often you get a text saying “just say it was northern lights”
and your stress migraine kicks in, because whatever just happened, it’s definitely not going to pass for northern lights
I WANT THIS AS A FIVE-SEASON NETFLIX SERIES
@netflix pleeeeeeeeease
please watch this man video
(video - youtube channel)
@ruff everybody loves callin’ obscure shit ‘cursed’ but this shit is haunted……….
WHAT IS THIS!!!???? LMAO
Can we PLEASE remove the stigma for blue collar work in America?
“You don’t wanna be a garbage collector when you grow up, do you?”
$34,000 a year, no college needed?
God forbid you take an honest job $7,000 above Michigan’s average cost of living line.
“You don’t wanna be a ditch digger.”
Bitch, I was making $15 an hour, post tax, doing exactly that, the fuck is wrong with it? (Other than it was physically exhausting.)
We need to help America, as a whole, understand that college is not, and should not be he only option, and that there is NO SHAME in trade school or even getting a career right out of high school.
I, personally, know plumbers making $80,000+ a year. Better than most 4 year degree workers.
We need plumbers, janitors, truck-drivers, garbage collectors, machinists, to keep this nation running smoothly. And they deserve respect for what they do.
Miss me with your classist bullshit.
Ok i didn’t expect that
This has been on my dash all day and I finally watched it and ajdjfksk
Just wow I was just about to let my 5 year old cousin watch this
the Onion is at it again
