adhd is so fucking stupid like. you have to be Obsessed with something or you will die. you literally cannot do anything productive without some sort of extra "distraction" helping you focus (like listening to music while you clean) and you will do almost anything to avoid doing something you don't like, including "nothing"

and like, being able to hyperfocus and spend all day working on something with no breaks is great and all but i really fucking wish my brain just worked normal and i could like. do the dishes without having to force myself

for me personally,   who existed before the internet,   I’ve found that the internet has made this SO much worse.  

Not worse as in I could do dishes before or whatever without a struggle,  cause I couldn’t.    But before the internet it was easier to latch on to other things I enjoyed,   like, sewing, or gardening.  My need for absolutely constant instant gratification wasn’t so well-honed.   Things that take set up, or patient precision weren’t so frustrating. 

And I really really miss that.  

Before the internet it was like my brain was a three lane freeway.   One lane for my hands, one lane for my thoughts, one lane for auditory,  like music or something.  

With the internet it’s like,  a 20 lane highway.  I have 15 tabs open right now.   I’m in 4 or 5 conversations on Discord.  I’m listening to Spotify.   Scrolling Tumblr is like a firehose of information being pumped right into my stimulation centers.   It’s quickly too much,  but anything else just isn’t enough.  And it’s been a really freaking long time since I’ve worked on a sewing project or done anything else like that productive,  because it just feels so ....   SLOW.

yeah im not surprised to hear that. the instant gratification probably fucks us up the worst what with our brains having little-to-no internal reward system...

on the other hand, i like doing stuff like sewing sometimes bc i get a result that i can physically hold in my hands as opposed to all the digital stuff i do that doesnt feel as... real? but for sure i have trouble with projects that take more than a few hours to complete
