WHUMPTOBER is a month-long, prompt-based creation CHALLENGE (think: Inktober, but whumpier). There are four prompts for each day of the month, giving 124 for you to play with! There is also a list of 18 alternative prompts that can be subbed in for any day to give participants as much creative freedom as possible.
All prompts are meant to serve as inspiration without being taken literally (e.g. you don’t have to include the exact wording of prompts into your work). Feel free to run rampant on interpretation. For example, if the prompt is “flame", you could create something with reference to a candle/campfire, your character could have suffered a burn, or the flame could be a reference to an ‘old flame’ - an old relationship. It’s truly down to you!
You can produce work in any media you choose, including but not limited to: writing, visual artwork, photo/video/audio edits, paper crafts and elaborate recommendation lists (not just a list of links). You can participate as much or as little as you want (i.e. you don’t have to do ALL the prompts if you don’t want to) and prompts can be used in any order. They are also free to use even after the event ends.
Please make sure to read the Event Info and FAQ carefully, as most of your questions will be answered there already. For everything else, you are welcome to come to our ask box or ask questions in our Discord server here.

mashima planned a lot of shit since the beginning, like not everything, but i'm pretty sure that the zeref and dragon slayer reveals were in the works since the very first chapters
you're right! there's quite a bit of foreshadowing in early FT that natsu might not be human, and that the dragon slayers are way older than they look :)
yes! like in the battle of fairytail, there is a stipend on the enchantment freed enables to keep makarov in the guild hall that states that anyone older than 80 (iirc) can’t leave the enchantment’s confines. both gajeel and natsu can’t leave the guild hall, foreshadowing the reveal of their true ages (/being from the past)! this was before we were even 50 eps/120 chaps in!
and i’m sure there are even more earlier on, that’s just the most obvious that’s coming to my mind
can we talk about how crazy strong lucy is?! like she not only caught him, but lifted him up! and when he was exhausted (aka practically dead weight atp) no less. love her, she deserves more credit
i don't think jerza is like the kind of couple that would get married BUT, if they did, erza would definitely be the one proposing AND she would heavily misunderstand it and just lay both knees on the ground and jellal would just stare at her blankly saying erza.what the fuck are you doing
Lucy’s hair has a subtle, natural shimmer that becomes more pronounced under starlight or moonlight, a faint magical trait inherited from her celestial connection
Lucy incorporates celestial-themed accessories into her wardrobe: star earrings, space-themed ribbons, or zodiac jewelry depending which spirit she’s planning to summon
Lucy sometimes sleep-talks, accidentally summoning spirits if she mumbles their names—leaving one of her spirits to sigh and tuck her back in
Natsu’s eyes have spark-like specks in them, bright orange against the dark green
His scarf always smells faintly of smoke and has slight scorch marks on the frayed ends
Natsu sometimes wakes up with temporary impressions of scales on his arms or back, leftover from using more powerful magic
Natsu’s a hidden softie, checking on his guild mates after tough missions—bringing Gray food or dragging Lucy out for “training” when she’s down
Gajeel’s skin has a faint metallic sheen in certain light, an effect of his iron dragon slayer magic. It’s most noticeable on his forearms and knuckles
Gajeel struggles to express care verbally, so he does it very physically. He’ll fix broken furniture or show his care through actions instead
Gajeel has a bad habit of chewing on anything metal in the vicinity when he’s bored, especially silverware
Juvia’s hair almost has a life of its own, shifting and waving sometimes like she’s underwater when she uses her magic
Juvia’s good at observing people. She’s often quiet and sits in the corner, but she notices things about her guild mates that she stores away for later
Juvia keeps a secret scrapbook of Gray, filled with pictures and things that remind her of him—a button from his coat, a sketch of his face
Lucy’s got a lot of freckles on her shoulders from spending so much time outside, in the sun. She also has a bad tendency to burn, and always has to be sure to put sunscreen on
Lucy’s favorite pair of boots is horribly scraped up and almost falling apart. But instead of replacing them, she just keeps getting them repaired and calling them her lucky boots
Lucy, determined to always treat her spirits like people, always summons one on her own energy each week to have tea or coffee or just to chat with—sometimes even spilling the celestial spirit world gossip. It’s also a free time for her spirits to bring up any concerns and for Lucy to address them
Natsu quite literally radiates heat, all the time. He’s hotter when he’s mad, and Lucy often sits near him in the winter because she’s always cold
Natsu has slightly longer and sharper canines, like all dragon slayers do
Natsu has scarily accurate gut feelings, sniffing out who’s fake and who’s not—even with no proof right off, he’s rarely wrong
Natsu has a bit of childlike curiosity, always asking a million questions—mostly to Lucy, who tries her best to patiently answer them
Gray has faint, silvery scars on his hands from his magic. They shimmer like frost in the right lighting
Gray has a secret habit of making small ice figurines, often in shapes he thinks his friends will like. He leaves them around the guildhall and pretends he doesn’t know where they came from when people find them
Erza’s sense of right and wrong is ironclad. She’ll take on anyone, even allies, if she thinks they’re crossing a line
Erza thrives on discipline—routine, order, etc. She does regular weapon maintenance, meal prep, and tries to keep to a schedule. Chaos throws her off more than she’d like to admit
Erza sometimes worries that she’s too harsh on her team and overcompensates by accidentally being extra strict on them. Only Jellal knows this side of her
What if there were new prompts this month, wouldn't that be crazy.
The fairy tail redraw event is open to all artists (whether you are traditional or digital) and editors!
The rules are simple:
Pick a prompt to redraw or edit (or 2, or all of em if you feel like it!)
You're free to interpret and change the drawing however you see fit! Wanna change some colours? Wanna tweak things here and there? Go ahead! Nothing's off the table! The prompts are here to inspire you!
When you're done, @ this blog in your post and use the tag #fairytailredraw for it to be reblogged here and that's it! All there is to it!
Also an important note: though the redraw prompts change every month there is no such thing as a late drawing! You could draw any prompt any time and it wouldn't matter.
So no pressure on being late!
Have any questions? Look here or shoot the blog a question!
i have a whole ass mermaid au plot line in my head and i dont know how to share it but here is this at the very least
dragon slayers are sirens (inspired by sharks and marine iguanas)
Erza is a shark
Gray is a Coelacanth
Juvia is inspired by fancy/ornamental(?) goldfish
Levy is inspired by guppies
