if i had a nickel for every book i read that was set in 1800s england and featured a clever dark haired female protagonist who doesn't sacrifice her femininity to prove herself, her older brother named nathaniel who betrays her and was involved with mixing machinery with human body parts, a sarcastic but very devoted love interest who encourages the protagonist to pursue her interests, and a near raising of the dead, i would have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's really cool that it happened twice.
