Corrin blushed, and he let out a little chuckle, reaching up to shyly rub the back of his neck as he looked over to the diviner, his eyes following the way she toyed with her hair. Her hair always looked fantastic– like it took her hours of work to maintain it every day.

Stop it, Corrin. You’re acting like Niles.

“I’m not entirely sure I know how to relax, or to take time off. I’m too restless to really sleep, and I just… if I start walking in the woods, I’m gonna start running in the woods, which probably isn’t the same thing, is it?”

Corrin sighed.

“Do you have any suggestions as to how I unwind? I trust your judgment. You’re the one with the knowledge of the cards, after all.”

—≪☯≫ “Then I only have one choice. I’m going to have to take you out on a picnic! That’ll get you started relaxing. Because as long as you’re under my sight, no work allowed!”

    She held her hand up to her chin.

    “Meet me tomorrow afternoon at one sharp. Bring a book... Nothing business, please.”

     With that and a wink, she turned humming out of the room.

“Well, I have not given my personal admiration much thought. Though, upon reflection, there are a few who strike my interest.” Mitama replies, tapping her quill to her chin. “Caeldori seems fair and noble, Sophie equally so, though charmingly clumsy, Midori sweet and eager to help and bring smiles to others …”

—≪☯≫ “Alright. Let’s start with Caeldori, especially since you’re already giving her poetry classes. Tell her the next lesson involves you two exploring nature and she’s to write poems as she gets inspired. It disguises the idea of it being a date and gets you into a place to get closer to her.”

    Easy. She’d have to think of it for all the women in camp though... Oh boy. One step at a time. They shouldn’t have to go through all of them... Right?

“Ah, what an inspired idea!” Mitama exclaims, smiling brilliantly. “It’s true, there’s so many people in camp I’ve yet to meet. I can learn more about our comrades and find my true love all in one activity!”

She grins at Orochi, her eyes lit up with excitement. “I cannot wait to get started, dear friend! Simply point the way, and I shall start there!”

—≪☯≫ “The question is... Who do you aspire the most to learn of first. Who catches your fancy? That would be the easiest start.” Perhaps she should fetch a pad of paper to keep tabs on this. This was going to be entirely fun. She just hoped this wasn’t all in vain.

“I hate to sound bitter or cynical, Orochi, but truth be told, I’m not surprised by that three of swords. Separation is kind of… normal for me, nowadays.” He sighed. “But the other cards are interesting enough. How did you learn how to interpret all of this?”

Corrin ran his hands through his hair, attempting to calm himself. He should have expected that the fortune would bring some measure of bad news, and the last thing he wanted was to take out any frustration on the messenger.

“I just wonder what you could mean by over-examining. Am I being too harsh on myself?”

—≪☯≫ “I believe it’s exactly that. Unfortunately I don’t believe there’s no news without bad news. However... With the over-examining. You’re too focused on getting everything about you better. There’s nothing wrong with you at all. While self improvement is a good thing... You’re currently taking it to an extreme. I say relax on it. Perhaps you should take a day off, there’s a lull right now in combat. Take a nap or go for a walk in the woods. Clear your mind! A revelation might come to you.” 

     As for his earlier question, she wasn’t sure how to answer. It was strange all of it... The gift had come naturally to her. Something she really hadn’t expected at all.

     “My gift of reading cards... I don’t know. I stumbled upon a deck and I found I understood what they meant without referencing any guides. I was just blessed with the gift. Of course, it’s a double edged sword with how people view us.”

“Three? Just three?  You can tell me enough information off of just three cards?”

There was no small measure of curiosity from the prince as he looked over the cards, and he found himself thinking entirely too much about the process– looking over cards, trying to get a feel for them. Eventually he settled on picking three of the cards– consecutive ones, no less– and handed them to her, still face down.

—≪☯≫ “In each card holds a storehouse of information. Now let’s see...” She studied them a moment, holding one up. “Eight of Pentacles. You love your work and work hard to try to make sure that the work done isn’t just done in mass quantity, but quality. However... This tells me that you’re over examining what you put your energy into. If you focus more on what benefits you and other’s around you, a difference will start to appear.”

     Next was the second card, something she mused over for a bit, a frown appearing on her face.

     “This, the three of swords... As you can imagine, given the image, it means bad news. Something is soon about to happen... A separation, someone else interfering with your plans... The result will be quite painful, but you’ll grow from the experience.”

      And now she read the last one, a smile forming now in place of the grim demeanor.

     “However.” She held up the Ace of Winds. “ After it, new things will start to grow in your life, happiness and well being. Your efforts and diligence are about to spread forth new beginnings for the masses. All of your hard work and efforts will pay off.”

“Kind of?” Corrin responded, his voice the tiniest bit sheepish.

“I mean, I feel just a touch silly for asking about something so selfish, but there’s been something that’s… really been bothering me for the past… well, month.”

Corrin’s cheeks were red and his gaze downcast.

“I’m just frustrated with my growth as a fighter– or seeming lack thereof.”

—≪☯≫ “There’s nothing wrong with feeling insecure at times, dear Prince. Let me see if I can help.” Pulling her deck from her pocket, she closed her eyes, calling to the spirits to unlock her vision. Laying her cards out on the table, she motioned to them.

    “Pick three.”

   It took all his self-control not to let go a sigh of relief. It was not good for someone to lie, much less a direct descendant of gods. But he knew that if he got caught, the punishment given by this woman would be far more painful than whatever the celestial beings could do. ❝Eh? Really? Just watching what you do would be enough, please~❞

—≪☯≫ “Alright then, I suppose I will read your fortune to help explain how tarot cards work.” She sat down, shuffling the deck a little just in case he had messed with them. She wanted fate to read them, not because some fool tampered with her cards. 

     “So what do you wish to know? Something in the future, something bothering you at night, what do you wish me to try to call a fortune about?”

“O-Oh Orochi um, if you want too I don’t mind, it has been surprisingly quiet in the castle today”

“Ah, how interesting!” Mitama’s cheeks flushed at this news. Certainly she was not uninterested in other females, but still, being told that she knew the one who would be hers? It was so sudden!

Destiny calls me / to meet the love of my life / Will you aid me friend?” She asks with a grin. She respected Orochi above many others in the camp, that was for certain. Who else was better to help her find her soulmate?

—≪☯≫ “Of course, dear! This could take a little while though, so we must be patient and diligent! Now, what would be the best way to do this...” She hummed, tapping a finger to her chin. Suddenly she snapped her fingers, a grin lighting up her face.

    “You should spend time with each of the girls in camp, over the course of a few days. You can say you’re just trying to get to know everyone better, it’s a valid excuse, especially for those of Nohrian backgrounds. If you don’t feel anything click, then we’ll move on. Meanwhile, I’ll be monitoring to see how they react to you, to see if there’s any lovey dovey feelings from their side! How’s that sound?”
