Writer Sign ups Information
Anyone who writes! Whether you are new and would like to try writing, or a fan that has actively contributed to the fics, we welcome all!
Are there any requirements?
Unfortunately, to standardise this, we will be using AO3 as the platform for the fics to be submitted. Thus, you will require an AO3 account. Please do have an AO3 account on hand. AO3 accounts are given by invitations, which you can request. It usually doesn’t take more than a day. Usually, it ends up in junk mail, or somewhere else. So do check carefully!
One more thing is for you to have a discord. We will use discord as the main source of communication for announcements and any important news we need to deliver. We will be giving reminders of deadlines and more through the channel. Also, it will be a fun way for you to recognise your fellow writers!
Am I only allowed to write in English?
Absolutely not! We understand the big support from the filo community! Love has no barriers, including language. What matters is our appreciation to this fandom! As mentioned previously in our prompt submissions, we have filo prompts available too!
Claiming of prompts will be done through an excel file. We will compile the prompts collected on an Excel file, and send it out on the discord chat. There will be a separate form that you will be required to fill out, where you will rank your top five prompts that you would like to select. Please note that you will only be able to claim two prompts at a time to allow for fairness.
Additionally, prompt claiming will be done on a first-come first serve basis. This is to firstly avoid the multiple claims of prompts and secondly to ensure each prompt is written. After 24 hours of the release, us admins will go in and strike out the prompts that have been taken, and thus also send out confirmation emails of the prompts that you have gotten. You may begin writing once you have your prompts.
In the event that you don't have your prompts you picked or you only have one, you will have to re-pick your prompts after 24 hours.
Every 24 hours, we will strike out the prompts that have chosen, and thus do check back after 24 hours for remaining prompts!
How do we get our works to be beta read?
When you are done with your work, you will have to put in a document and share it via email with a beta reader that we will assign you. Your beta reader will need to have editing rights and viewing rights. Please be courteous to our beta readers as they are humans and have lives to lead!
When your beta reader is done, you can hear their feedback and fix the mistakes! Afterwards, you can consider that work done!
What if I want to write more than the two prompts?
Of course, feel free to write more! However, to ensure fairness, you will have to complete your two prompts before recommitting to another two prompts. Our admins will require you to send in your two fully done up fics, as a proof to show that you are eligible for another two fics.
Our first check ins with everyone will be on the 11 August 2021! On 16 August 2021, We will reveal the prompts and writers to the public via our Twitter account. From 22 August 2021, you will be able to start publishing your works on AO3 under a collection, which will be revealed later on! If you are unable to submit your works by then, it's alright! Just that they will not be added to the collection, however please still post them!
Each fic submitted has a word limit of 5000 to 6000 words. If you prompt is a longer prompt that extends into a multipart, only your first part will be required to follow this. Please note that you don't have to continue and finish the series to complete the prompt! You can complete your series later on after the ficfest!
No headcanon styled fics allowed! We will only accept fics, not headcanons.
Appropriate warnings will also have to be given (eg: trigger warnings) and absolutely no plagiarism. Beta readers will remind you, however it is the responsibility of us writers to be accountable and sensitive. If plagiarism is caught, we will disqualify you immediately and refuse to beta read your work.
What if I am unable to continue writing due to unforeseen circumstances? (Eg: Commitments and deadlines.)
Please sound out to us admins! We will free up your prompt for others to take instead.
What if I have trouble with my prompt and would like to switch?
Inform us admins, and from the list of prompts on the excel sheet, select a prompt! We will switch your prompt within 24 hours of you informing us.
