A mcguffin isn't just any artifact the characters are after in a story. A mcguffin needs to be interchangeable to qualify as a mcguffin. The mcguffin serves no purpose to the story outside of the fact that the characters are after it.
The Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War give Thanos powers and allow him to carry out his plan in the end. They're not mcguffins.
The Ark of the Covenant in Indiana Jones is almost a mcguffin. For most of the movie it doesn't do anything except being a vague supernatural power the characters are after. But in the end it activates and resolves the plot by destroying the Nazis, disqualifying it.
The Arquillian Galaxy in Men in Black is a mcguffin. It doesn't do anything in the movie except be sought after by the characters. The bug is after it, but it doesn't do anything with it. The Arquillians threaten to destroy the Earth if they don't get it back, but they don't use it (except in the very end when they play marbles with it) In story terms, it's entirely interchangeable.
Unobtanium in the Avatar movie is so much of a McGuffin I bet most of us forgot it existed
It's got the most mcguffiny name short of just calling it Mcguffinite.
The Maltese falcon in The Maltese Falcon is also a great example.
My favorite example is the Uranium sand from Notorious. It's a mcguffin so interchangeable that it was literally changed during the scripting process.
It was stolen diamonds in earlier drafts of the script and was changed to Uranium because it was 1946 and everything nuclear-related was very topical.

things Iâve noticed in the UK:
- when youâre jay walking, cars will actively accelerate bc the drivers want to kill you for breaking the rules
- servers in restaurants act very scared and apologetic, so maybe people arenât nice to them here??? or I could be terrifying
- itâs really cute when little kids have British accents, but Iâm unmoved by adults with accents
- extremely good gluten free options. this country is like 20 years ahead of Canada in that regard
- people will give random insignificant buildings names with little plaques. and then thatâs the name that shows up on the map. like even a smaller than average family home, you can name it like itâs a dog
- lots of brick and stone buildings. looks cute and charming until you enter one and thereâs no air conditioning
- people are still wearing jaguar print. I like this. donât let it die
ohhh okay! amendment: cars will actively try to kill you for being small and made of flesh, instead of cool and metal like them
I absolutely adore dogs but I think dog haters are (usually) more justified than cat haters wrt their reasoning
your average cat hater: I don't like how they r bitchy and ignore me/ won't let me manhandle them
your average dog hater: I have been mortally endangered by an ill-trained dog
When people argue that food from Chinese and Mexican restaurants in the US are not 'real' representations of that culture's cuisine ignore the historical reality that these dishes were developed by diasporic communities striving to recreate the flavors of home with available resources. Such criticism frames adaptation as a loss of authenticity, rather than recognizing it as a sincere and evolving expression of culture by people separated from their homeland.

Elite mecha pilot from a gritty, fucked up Real Robot milieu goes up against nth-dimensional alien invaders and promptly gets their ass kicked until discovering quite by chance that shouting the names of your attacks actually makes them more effective against these things.
