carol sturka has watched her wife die, the entire world turn into some freakish cult that reminds her of conversion camp, and she cant be mad about it without killing millions of people.
shauna shipman has watched her best friend die, gave birth in the wilderness only for her baby to die, and then watched all the people around her turn into some freakish cult!
now, i am NOT saying the shauna is a solely a victim to the rest of the jackets that got manipulated and played no part in their moral deterioration
what i AM saying is that they both were put in unfathomable, awful, horrendous circumstances that would provoke less-than-perfect reactions to their surroundings
was shauna a good person pre-crash? probably not. but she was also a HEAVILY closeted TEENAGER btw.
was carol a good person pre-hivemind? also probably not.
but people love to call their reactions to their trauma character flaws because they may have other character flaws.
people LOVE to defend s3 lottie because she hadn't done anything bad (that we know of) pre crash
but lottie and shauna went through the same trauma and were objectively morally wrong by the end
now here's where we get into zosia/melissa
ZOSIA IS THE HIVEMIND. THEY ARE MANIPULATING CAROL.
people love to forget that and be like "omg stursia!" no. i will explode into a million stars. carol is mourning her dead wife and has been love bombed by the hive. this is another reaction to her trauma, and it's weird to me that this is the reaction yall pick to defend or even deny is from trauma because its "a ship"
shauna is mourning jackie and her baby, and while i do think shauna IS a closeted lesbian, like sophie said, the shaunahat kiss wasn't her coming out as that. melissa was just what she needed at the time, just someone to listen and be there. this is ALSO a trauma response.
denying that it is and saying things like "shaunahat >> jackishauna" is silly to me because these are the same people that genuinely hate shauna for killing mari.
shauna and carol are both flawed characters with or without trauma and you are allowed to, or even supposed to, dislike these characters because of their actions.
but you cannot hate them for their worse trauma responses then turn around and deny that the ones you like even stem from trauma.
