In my fibromyalgia brain fog, I can't think of an all-purpose word for, "the thing we are fans of."

"Fandom" more usually refers to the fan community and/or its activities.

'Verse serves as slang for "universe," referring to the Watsonian/in-character "world" (another term). Rarely, "(o)Sphere." I refuse to say "content."

But that's not the Doylist object of fans' attention: behind the scenes, actors, production and showrunner, franchise news, collectibles, etc.

"Media" only refers to the vehicle that v which the 'verse is communicated: show, books, series, webcomic, etc.

And then there's fan activities: collecting, cosplay, giffing, meta/discussion. We usually have verbs for these, at least. The collective noun "fanworks" gets used for the object of productive/creative fandom.

All of these things are part of the thing we relate to as fans, but I can't think of a collective term for all of them;

Fandon? Same ending as canon, Greek equivalent of -um (-a plural) in Latin (memorandum, data), since fandum sounds too much like fandom. (sounds unharmonious)

Fanomenon? Fanomena? From Latin "nomen," originally meaning "name," expanded by ancient grammarians to mean noun (things with names).

Discussing this with a friend, I noted that fanworks uses a solid, "everyday" Anglo-saxon word. Since I'm a classics major, I reach for Greek and Latin, but that produces academic words.

She suggests "fanboodle" from "kit and caboodle," since boodle is a bundle, collection, cargo, stuff carried/taken. That gets across the idea of "object of a verb" (fanning). It's cute!
